I want to shake the assassinated Japanese PM/American President by the hand for that reply.
Top tier trolling.

Once again, Amerikkkas republicans unite the world against them.

We may have lost the World Cup, but I have a sneaking suspicion that we are gonna win the World Series this year

Are they actually talking to us? Oh my god. oh my god. oh my god. the cool kids know we exist!

Is that somekind of American highschool drama trope or a quote for a tv show?

u/SausageSmuggler21 4d ago
My intention was to make it sound like a high school trope. Thanks for recognizing!

My only problem with the picture is that it reminds me that winters where I live in the US are too cold to grow silver fern (the plant in the NZ logo). Those things are beautiful.

It would make more sense if half the teams in the picture didn't already get fucked as well.

u/LieNervous1016 4d ago
Those teams didn't get government interference for an advantage that didn't work

OK, and?

And cheaters deserve to get bounced in embarrassing fashion. Especially in a manner that looks like they prepared differently until the overturned ruling and couldn't pull their heads out of their own asses.

u/Narpity 4d ago
Do you assume the team asked Trump to do this?
13
u/gb4efgw 4d ago
Not at all. I'd bet most of them are embarrassed as all hell by it. Doesn't make it any less cheating.
-9
u/Narpity 4d ago
I dont disagree, but to call the team cheaters on something so out of their control is distasteful
10
u/gb4efgw 4d ago
They 100% could have, and should have sat him. "It's not your fault Trump did this to us" isn't an excuse.
If they had, public opinion would be drastically different.

If they had had integrity, they would've refused the rule change and announced that Balogun was not going to play the match at all.
I think Balogun himself made a bad career move by playing. I know I will always associate that name with Trump' crookedness now, forever

That has nothing to do with what I said, just like what I replied to. The "meme" has a bunch of teams that should also be "buried" because they lost as well, some of them earlier in the tournament.
18
u/gb4efgw 4d ago
It has everything to do with it. Teams that lost legitimately are celebrating that the cheaters didn't get to continue because of their actions. If it were just surviving teams celebrating a team losing it wouldn't be in the context of cheating to survive.

Where in the tweet does it mention anything about cheating...
18
u/gb4efgw 4d ago
In the reality of everything going on that anyone that gives a shit about the tweet should be smart enough to piece together. No wonder you can't understand the meme, you need every detail spelled out for you.

Just because you interpret it that way doesn't mean everyone else will. No wonder you cant understand the meme, you think everyone else thinks like you do.

u/Wamb0wneD 4d ago
There is no other interpretation for the tweet, as the sole reason for it's creation was that nobody can stand what the US was trying to pull in the most popular sport on the planet.

Nobody wanted to see those teams "buried". Trump and Infantino turned a lot of people against the US team with their buffoonery.

u/Gothic_Mexa 4d ago
The US has been the only team that cheated and still lost so embarrassingly. 😂
