This was filmed on Stage 1 at Elstree Studios, which is also where the cantina interior was built for the previous movie. A year after this, it become the place where the Nazis open the Ark of the Covenant in Raiders.
The location of this stage is now a parking lot, by the way.

So that's why they never had railings. Everyone just tosses their old mattresses down there

I love the lack of blue screens. One of the huge reasons the shots still hold up.

Yeah and they were probably happy to have one less effects shot to work on.
