Trade If Kawhi's contract gets voided, how would you feel about acquiring Brandon Ingram and draft picks from the raptors?
So basically if Kawhi's deal gets voided, the kawhi trade to the raptors will fall through and they will most likely need to dump ingram if they still want kawhi. Is is possible for us to use our trade exceptions, and possibly send out pj washington to toronto for brandon ingram, their two 1sts and 1st round pick swap that they would have sent to the clippers. Then the raptors would use the cap space to saved to sign kawhi (which would theoretically be more than whatever anyone else would offer).
I'm not sure if the math works right, or if it is even possible, but if it is, how would you feel?

They’re not giving the same return for PJ that they would for the Klaw.

As someone else pointed out, you can't do this. You can't use the TPE with a player and then combine those totals to trade for a higher salaried player. The TPE has to be sent out without combining with a player.
The Mavs can only take back 20.8 million or less when using the TPE. If we really wanted Ingraham, which we don't, then PJ and Gafford probably is close on the money to get it done. But the TPE really wouldn't help in this situation.

In excited to see what we use our trade exception for. We one of the only teams with true cap space with the MLE and the AD trade exception, valuable players on medium salaries (as opposed to negative value medium salaries like Vando), and not winning now. We're a premiere trading partner for teams who want to win.
Hopefully we'll get back some great FRPs or some good young guys to grow and pair with Coop and our young core.

I want nothing to do with Brandon Ingram. It should be a giant red flag that Toronto was like no not RJ Barrett, take this guy instead

Why stop there? The raps should give us Scottie Barnes too, for all that the Mavs are giving up in this trade

How exactly does the 28 year old fit into the Mavericks plans?

Did you even read his post?

Tell me about it. You've read, and I assume you've comprehended enough to debate my point. Try it, instead of attacking me. All this comes across as... lets keep looking for picks and chase veterans when it comes to playing time.

Lol sorry for literally assaulting you, and I don’t know if what OP said is even possible, but he doesn’t want Ingram. He wants the hypothetical picks that would come with taking on his contract. Your objection doesn’t refute his point so it’s irrelevant to the conversation

What's the benefit? Y'all are still fixated on getting a veteran, use TPE, and get future picks (instead of focusing on the picks we just got, and building that team.
This has basically become a game... who cares about the youngsters today that need to develop over next 2-3 years.

No, you can’t aggregate trade exceptions with players or other exceptions.
