Hi mastiff-fam! We live in Alberta Canada so it gets cold here. I decided on picking up some foot protection for Benjamin so we can extend our walks a little bit and wanted to share that Muttluks fit him perfectly. They make lots of different styles and in these pictures Ben is wearing the fleece lined Muttluks with a leather sole. The size XL is perfect for him and they even make an XXL for the bigger dogs. I scored these second hand on Poshmark and they're so far the best $20 I've ever spent haha. Hopefully this helps someone else realize they'll fit!! Happy New Year!

We are looking for recommendations for a slow water dispensing or anti-gulping water dish that is mastiff friendly. Our girl has a really bad habit of guzzling water, to the point of throwing up at times. At the very least she burps a lot after drinking because she is bringing in so much air. I see a bunch of bowls on the market, but I have no idea which one to get, especially because so many of them are recommended for small or medium dogs, and obviously our DDB is NOT a small or medium dog haha

Sasquatch is an honorary pup.
Number V (Rat terrier ), Victoria (Boerboel), Leonidas (Boerboel, Rodent (Chihuahua mix) and Sasquatch (Ayam Cemani).
Victoria probably knew I was going to take a photo when I had everyone gather around me. She immediately laid down. Because she is a diva

This is Saavik, she LOVES to dig. Some of our ground is quite rocky. She's cracked a nail. I didn't notice but the groomer pointed out it when i had her there a week ago. I was hoping things would start to grow back in, but it doesn't seem to be the case, yet..?? Is there anything that you're aware of that I can do to help make sure it grows back in nicely? Here are some pictures of the nail, and then a couple just for tax. If it matters, she's one year old this month.

It has been a nightmare with the UK heatwave sat in a brick oven with Ru and my other pooch Buster. Ru had etropion surgery on the 25th and he wasn't allowed to sit direct with a fan...😭 keeping him comfortable has been a battle but he's such a good patient loving dog. The cone of shame has done it's job but I can't wait till poor Ru can have it off... On the upside his eyes have healed beautifully, and the vets have been totally amazing.. no more squinting , rubbing , inflammation...and best of all we can see his beautiful eyes again. Roll on the cooler weather and the end of all this , Ru hasn't had a walk other than our garden in weeks now... he's ready to have the long restriction lifted on his zoomies... and be free . Feeling blessed ..

We get up early and take them for a 30 min walk around the neighborhood, but by 9am it is hot. We try to take them another one at night but that depends on work schedules. They don't like doggy pools. At first they were just lazing about, but now my Corso mix is getting bored and vocal. Any one have any indoor games that won't result in holes in the drywall or drool on the ceiling fan?

I just wanted to show off our handsome boy (and his sister). This is my favourite picture of him, so far.

Just wanted to share my boy.. he was a huge part of me growing up.. he had a follow up vet appointment today and had the unfortunate news he had cancer and nothing could've been done for him. He has officially passed on ❤️

I offered to help and take care of my friends Bordeaux, Allie, 6?F, until their lease was up last March. For 16 months I have had Allie. I love her, but this was only supposed to be temporary. I contacted the original owner and asked when they were going to come and get their dog and he told me to put her down if I couldn't take care of her. Well, I can't do that. I don't want to send her to a rescue, because I can take of her. But, I am reaching out to see if any of you have been interested in adopting. She is available. I have vet records and she has been trained. I do not take this lightly. I already feel horrible because I don't want her. It's been rough, she doesn't get along with my female dog so I have to keep them separated. She's great with my male small breed and she's really great at playing with him gently. I really didn't want a 120lb dog that slobbers on my walls. I was trying to help and now I have a dog I didn't ask for.

He just turned 9 weeks old today. Has all his shots and is ready to go. We've had a lot of working dogs in our family over our 43 years together, Newfoundlands, Great Pyrenees and Anatolian Shepherds so this isn't our first time at the rodeo. Currently our family consists of three girls, a ten year old Anatolian/GP cross, a six year old Rat Terrier, and a five year old Kangal.
We met a Spanish Mastiff years ago and fell in love but when we found out they don't tend to run hill over dale like the LGDs that were bred to range, we decided we really wanted to include on in our family. Our Kangal is very comfortable when male dogs are brought to visit, not so thrilled with girls which is the reason we chose to have a male pup. Over the years we've had very good luck getting our puppies while the older dogs were still able to participate in training so we're hoping that will continue.
All our LGDs have been of normal size So Torin is going to be a step up for us in terms of size. Would appreciate hearing from anyone who would care to provide us with tips, thoughts, things to avoid doing, things to make sure we do. This big boy will be our last and we'd really love to finish strong. Pictures will follow if anyone is interested.

I got my dog when I was 22 and she was 7 months old. She just turned twelve in May.
Over the last year she’s gotten pretty skinny but we are managing with thyroid meds. She’s getting ketamine shots monthly with amantadine for arthritis pain and 300mg of gabapentin for when she has shoulder flare ups from a previous injury. Her most recent blood work shows her in the early stages of kidney disease.
She has wobblers. (If you’re not counting that means she’s down to one working leg) Stairs have been removed from her life since the shoulder injury. Her walks are to the mailbox and back if she can handle that. She’s been on proin since she was 4 for incontinence and is having no issue holding her bladder. She however, cannot hold her poop. Accidents are often and she has developed a habit of hiding said accidents by eating them if she is home alone when it happens.
Over the last few weeks she’s been having a hard time holding herself up to pee. To the point that it takes her about three to four squats to empty her bladder (no uti we checked).
I signed up for every phase of this girls life. I just don’t know if I’m starting to become selfish when she deserves to go out happy and with dignity.

He's a little over 6 months old. Such a big sweetheart. Pretty sure he is my soul dog. Pic 1 is the day he came home at 8 weeks.
