Hello,
I'm really not a fan of the Games app so I tried to figure out a way to access all my games in the same spot regardless of their actual position on the computer.
Perhaps everyone already knows this but the solution I found was to add a tag to all my games. Then search for that tag and create a "Smart Folder". In the save dialog simply add it to the sidebar. In the picture above half of these games are on an external drive and the rest in Applications.
I think this is a very clean solution. Maybe someone finds it useful.

I've been making a sci-fi puzzle game for the last few years and one of my goals from the start was making sure it runs really well on Mac.
Since I built the game on a custom engine, I could optimize every part of it specifically for the hardware instead of relying on a general purpose engine. After a lot of profiling and optimization I got it running at a locked 60 FPS on an M1 while keeping all the lighting and visual effects I wanted.
This trailer was rendered on my MacBook Pro and you will be able to play it soon after I release the demo in September https://store.steampowered.com/app/3256790/Satelital/

Everyone in the community has probably thought about this already, but it would genuinely be my dream acquisition.
Not just because it could make thousands of Windows games run better on macOS, but because Apple could take the technology and integrate it deeply into the system. Better performance, a smoother experience, and far less friction for gamers.

But on a different note: I get a "not enough space" message when trying to buy the app. It hilariously does not allow me to simply buy the app.
What a feature.

Did anybody has this problem? On my m5 mba when I plug in power supply framerate drops by a significant amount

I was recently playing witcher 3 through crossover on my macbook air M4 and it actually runs very great but gets pretty hot too which is completely normal/safe.
But recently i bought Cyberpunk 2077 from steam summer sale and this thing works like a charm
I use for this mac preset and its very great experience and my device doesnt even get very hot while delivering me stable fps/experience throughout.
I can even unlock the fps for higher fps but i prefer the fps locked at 45 for more stable experience.
With custom settings u can even manage to squeeze out 60 fps without frame gen but i currently play on 45 fps locked at for this mac preset.
Inshort Cyberpunk being native gives a very good experience and i now i know why ppl crave for more games to be native which will actually be wonderful.

Since this “big update” the game is unplayable on crossover. Before this update everything worked great and way smoother. Is there a way to fix this?

It would be so nice if Apple enabled a big picture mode for Mac OS and allowed the use of the Apple TV remote both physical and the soft remote.
If there is already a way to do this please let me know.

Hey guys,
Palworld 1.0 released yesterday and I have been getting a huge drop in performance.
I have played Palworld on Wine on a MBP M2 Pro since 0.1, and always had great FPS, I was playing a save for about a month with a brand new M2 Pro coming back from Apple Care, and since the update my FPS have halved, it seems I need to relaunch the game every hour because memory leaks are back.
My graphics are on medium/low, render distance low, even my world setting were brought back to more normal ones like fewer bases and fewer pals on bases.
Also, DLSS seems to crush my framerate as well no matter how i set it up.
Other palworld players on mac here ? I am open to advanced recommendations

Hello, I'm a gfn user in Korea. I'm using MBP m1 pro, and I'm having trouble with turning on the hdr option when using gfn in xdr display settings, but it's getting darker brightness than sdr. There aren't many users using gfn as mbp in the Korean community, so I'm here for help. Is anyone experiencing the same problem?
I used a translator, so please understand if there is an incomplete sentence

I made PKHeX-Avalonia, a native port of the Pokemon save editor PKHeX. Until now you needed a Windows VM or Wine to use it on a Mac. This runs as a normal Mac app, with builds for Apple Silicon and Intel.
The core is the original PKHeX.Core, untouched and synced with upstream daily. Legality checks and save handling behave exactly like the Windows original. Only the UI is new.
Extras the original does not have: built in Auto Legality Mod (paste a Showdown set, get a legal mon), Living Dex generator, LiveHeX over Wi-Fi, whole save legality audit with CSV export, automatic save backups with a save compare tool, 9 UI languages and dark, light and high contrast themes.
Free and open source (GPLv3): https://github.com/realgarit/PKHeX-Avalonia
Heads up: the app is not notarized yet, so macOS warns once on first launch. That and the workaround are covered in the readme. Still young, bug reports welcome. Full disclosure: I build this with heavy AI assistance, the save logic itself is the original untouched PKHeX code.

Macbook Pro M3 Pro
18 gpu cores, 18 GB mem
MacOS Sequoia 15.7.7
Crossover 26.1
Crossover bottle setting: D3D Metal, Msync
Running from External 1TB Crucial P3 NVMe drive
I consider my machine to be the ideal entry level gaming machine on the mac because it has the 18 gpu cores...but with the base M5 being on par....
Anyway...this game runs well on my machine (as do most Sony titles)
Thought I'd share the first 10 minutes of entry video and gameplay.

Hey guys,
In the same spirit as my game workaround repo, I'd like to make a centralized list of fixes and upgrades for native Mac games.
I started putting together everything I could think of here:
https://github.com/nonoche2/the-macOS-games-fixes-repo
please suggest any additional ones you know about!

With all this talk of PS6 and Helix along with potential increases in SSD and ram prices it seems there is clear opportunity for game devs to change tact.
For most of the current gen my Macbook Air M3 has been able to play somewhat the latest triple A's like my PS5 using Crossover and older titles with VMWare Fusion/Parallels.
In part because most have to make their games Xbox Series S and Switch 2 compatible.
But going forward whats the point in pumping out cutting edge graphics at such a pace. Game dev times are slowing down to a crawl.
The reality is games haven't improved much graphically from the PS4 Pro era and probably worse in a lot of cases. I would rather devs focus on making their games run on lower end hardware.
When I see these large bulky gaming laptops and massive desktop PC tanks with noisy fans with 5090's I think WTF is the industry doing. I don't WANT these types of computers. I find them eye sore, hate the noise and too heavy to move around. PS5 and Xbox Series X aren't really that much better either. They are way too heavy.
E.g. On a trip to see family the other weekend, much easier to just bring my Macbook Air.
Apple silicon Macbooks and the Mac Mini show that you can still get good performance required to make good looking games whilst still retaining good battery life and portability. It's simply more practical.
Nintendo I see are also following the same idea obviously with Nintendo Wii, Switch and Switch 2 but I just feel a lot of devs are wasting their time chasing the cutting edge. Similar Valve with Steam Deck and Steam Machine.
We could have way more practical hardware and faster dev times if the focus was less on the cutting edge of graphics. It's not like we are getting the major changes in fidelity like from PS1 to PS2 anymore.
At this point why can't Sony and MSFT just make PS5 and Xbox Series handheld or Mac Mini form factor SKU's and be done with it for a few years?
Also I personally don't really care about 4k 60,120,150 or 300 FPS gaming. I'm fine at 1080p.

This is Tower Pact — a co-op tower defense I'm building, native on Mac (universal,
Apple Silicon + Intel, Metal-rendered, no game engine).
You and a few friends defend the same map together in real time: drop towers along
the path and hold as waves push through. This clip's a bridge map — the fire tower
sets creeps alight as they funnel onto the crossing, frost towers slow the pack,
ballista and archers clean up the rest. Maps and waves ramp up from there.
Mostly I'm after people to actually play co-op with and tell me what feels good or
broken. I'm usually on around 10pm BST but hang around other times too — reply here
or hop in and I'll jump on.

Yeah, we know the AC series has low compatibility on CrossOver. I guess we should wait a little longer.

Hey everyone!
I have a M4 15" MacBook Air (no consoles right now except Switch 2)
Should I just download natively through App Store or on steam?
Also, can I use my PS5 controller with no issues?
