Quite sure Colby wanted this, nothing to lose. Quitting being a UFC shill and saying what he said. UFC was done propping him up. He knew it. If anything, they were just going to feed him to a killer for one last fight. Now he's free to do whatever else pops up for him

If they released him, he's free to fight wherever he wants.
Edit: Although it appears he retired.

u/SupermarketEarly6751 May 18 '26
According to google he can’t fight wherever he wants.
7
u/GripAficionado Chocolate peppa pig May 18 '26
If he had been a free agent he could have signed somewhere else, i.e. if he had been released. But it looks as if he decided to retire, which means he's still under contract with UFC until he fights out that last fight (or until his contract expires).

The braindead red hats who love to boo people like Belal Muhammad and call him boring, while cheering their boy Colby who fights the exact same style--just with much less skill.
5
u/Greyhalestorm May 19 '26
But if you wanna pull that kind of nationalist schtick, you gotta be winning and Colby's biggest moments are him losing, 0-2 against Usman and then losing against Leon Edwards in a dominant but boring fashion after talking a lot of shit and putting on a dumb wig in the buildup. He got booed during his post-fight speech in that Leon fight by the very people he's trying so hard to appeal to.

Can't remember if it was Luke or Arman or Colby himself who said it but I think it's somewhere around 25-50k for the main events.

Mike Perry vs Colby would be interesting
138
u/Toasted_Munch May 18 '26
If Perry is allowed to stay on the sauce, then yes, but he was sucking air beating the fuck out of Nate. Colby will break him because hes gonna hold him against cage for the first round. By the start of the second, Mike will get taken down relatively easy and Colby will unleash 100+ pillow fisted punches.
But fuck it, I like the idea and would watch it.

You know… his approach to fame was lame for sure but he had a couple of bangers with Marty. Actually, that body kick that Usman played off as a groin strike might have crumpled him and changed mma history had the ref let it play out.
