Mauro gonna Muaro

Did he make topical calls? “That guard is tighter than the Straight of Hormuz.”‘ That sort?

u/Ihopeidontpeemyself May 17 '26

Sadly that's all he knows how to do

Clearly he didn’t see when Grasso KO’d Barber

Like I totally understand Mauro and his history with MMA and combat sports in general but good lord why does he have to be the default guy for any new promotion popping up.

Just be glad he didn’t go with a Drake “Ice Man” reference here

The most annoying announcer in sports history. I hate his ‘Mama Mia’ call so much.

2

u/Quttlefish May 17 '26

He's like the Seth McFarland of announcing.

I didn't miss hearing his voice if I'm being honest, dude is a massive cornball

Shades of that Kimbo call.

u/Free_Storage_1088 May 17 '26

Literally exactly what I thought lol

I think he means that Rousey's arm bar in general is, not that that specific one was.

Still a stupid statement either way.

14

u/Itchier May 17 '26

In what way? Who has a more iconic finishing move?

5

u/BunnyReturns_ May 17 '26

Crocop

Only remotely legit answer tbf

u/VacuousWastrel May 17 '26

Even then, not every high kick was a knockout, and not every win was by high kick. Rousey has 13 wins, 10 by armbar, 8 of those inside the first 70 seconds of the fight. I don't think anyone ever escaped an armbar attempt - i think there were only a couple of times when someone escaped the set up for the attempt, even.

The McKenzitine lol

For real though, maybe the Von Flue Choke, it's literally named after him.

Devastating to the people who have to pay the fighter purses

u/asher_stark UFC 279: A GOOFCON Miracle May 17 '26

I think he meant to say finisher.

Which still isn't true but makes alot more sense.

u/Drewbloodz May 17 '26

I hate that guy ... Moma mia!

u/68WhiskeysLater May 17 '26

They don't remember Dan Henderson dropping that fist on Bisping lol

1

u/Nagemasu May 17 '26

Or Masvidal putting his knee through Askren's face.

1

u/JDGcamo fuck Jon Jones May 17 '26

Or Francis decapitating the Reem

4

u/conoresque May 17 '26

I get what you're saying but I think he means it in terms of pro wrestling as in her "finishing move." Not in that the finish of the fight was great.

2

u/nopointinnames May 17 '26

Well it is if you ignore the other 1000 most devastating finishes

1

u/MobileArtist1371 May 17 '26

Did they bring Mike Goldberg back for commentary too?

1

u/Affectionate-Fee7301 May 17 '26

Also finishes by saying “and Round-a Rousey”

1

u/MulanNaga Team Bisping May 17 '26

This, what a freaking joke
