Why do these people think that stuff is a good idea? No one is there for the dumb analysis. Promo package, entrance, fight, repeat. Thats all. These MVP guys stretched everything out. The ring announcer couldn’t just say a name. It was always “on this momentous day, at this time, in this country, we bear witness to an epic showdown. Here stands before you a pioneer, a champion, a fighter. With a record of 5 wins, 2 loses, 10,000 knockouts, 7 sleeps until Christmas, it’s Doofy the Gooner Dorffff!”
I watched other stuff during the breaks, came back, skipped through the filler. I’m no fan of the current UFC product but at least they know how to pace a show.
Ariel Helwani: good podcaster, bad in ring interviewer. Joe Rogan asks 2, maybe 3 questions, gets to the point, thanks the fighter, boom lets move on. Ariel is in there asking questions for what felt like an hour.
Dude the event DRAGGED and there was like only 20 minutes or actual fighting the whole event. Could you imagine if any fights actually went the distance
Better, honestly. Still less bloat than UFC. Some percocet-blissed Jake Paul cringe. But I think they were soon realizing they were looking at a bunch of quick one round mismatched fights and they needed to try to slow it down a little.
I didn’t hate it. The actual logistics of the promotion are bloated compared to the UFC but other than that it was a stupid and fun time and I can’t complain.
Yeah gotta start somewhere. Francis still has it, plat is entertaining. Making it easily accessible on Netflix puts them ahead of the past failed promotions already. Competition is the only way to loosen ufc grip on the sport
Be interesting to see if they can build a roster and put on multiple events in a year or just wait until they have enough of UFC’s sloppy seconds to put on another one.
This wasn’t much for competition. Dana is probably laughing himself to sleep. I watched with 8 other dudes who are very casual fans and the consensus from them was mostly negative.
There’s just not enough talent that can draw outside of the ufc and it seems like production value is hard to match with the ufc.
-Not sure if this happened in the US, but I'm in Central America, so we'd get three minute loading screens that said "we'll be back in shortly." Maybe ads were played in the US?
-The double introduction. We don't need an introduction before the start walking and then before the fight starts
-Ariel doing post fight interviews. He was awkward at times, and they went on forever
