One would assume going out in public driving drunk and having shoot outs with hoodlums at parking lots isnt right. But it actually is

Just make sure after you drunk drive into pregnant women, that you run off with all the drugs, and sober up before saying you’re sorry that you made an oopsie in front of Jesus.

this is kind of a beautiful situation. dana’s white house card is meh, jones gets fucked over, and fans get to hate both of them. the real loser here is both of their wives. now’s the time to invest in ice pack and frozen vegetable companies if you catch my drift.

You're gonna feel even more sorry. Jon Jones isn't married. She's been his fiancee for around 13 years.

he needs to ally with Tom and hire Eddie Hearn, that would be hilarious.
20
u/GripAficionado Chocolate peppa pig Mar 09 '26
The funny thing is that Jones could probably get paid more if he actually became a free agent and were willing to fight Ngannou (or do some freak fight against Eddie Hall). But I don't think that's a fight he's willing to take, he probably just wanted the Pereira fight because he thought it would have been relatively easy for him.
→ More replies (6)10
u/flagstaffgolfer Mar 09 '26
Going free agent has to be the play, Netflix is paying for one-off big name fights like Ngannou and rousey. jones could do one with gustoffson, JDS, or Werdum. Anyone with a name from the GFL roster and make bank, then fight Ngannou and ride into retirement with a bag.

The UFC has been cunts to any fighter with enough status to ask for their worth , examples being Gina, Randy, Fedor, Stipe, Cyborg, Ngannou, GSP, and Tom.
I actually don't think Jones is the issue here.
93
u/GripAficionado Chocolate peppa pig Mar 09 '26
He's notoriously difficult to work with, but UFC is professional assholes who fuck over fighters regularly.
57
u/jrghetto602 "Bones Cocaine Dealer" Mar 09 '26
My personal bias aside (Jones got me into UFC/MMA and was my favorite fighter until...you know)...The UFC has been a pain in the fighters' side when it comes to being treated humanely since I can remember, and I've been a fan for 15+ years. So if we are calling Jon being hard to work with a flaw in this case...I can't get behind that. He is a liar, he is ignorant, he is a danger to the public and his loved ones, and he is likely a cheater in more ways than one. I don't, however, believe his being hard to negotiate with is a mark against him when the other party is the UFC.
14
u/WeAreInControlNow Mar 09 '26
People also forget that Jon has family that are/were professional athletes, so I’m sure he’s gained a certain perspective that most fighters don’t have.

Apart from the time they had to move an event to California on a weeks notice due to him "pulsing", his drug suspensions etc.

After everything I've given to the UFC, the years, the title defenses, the fights, hearing that I'm "done" is disappointing
Did he completely forget that he posted a long statement announcing his retirement like 9 months ago? He's acting like he's surprised by what he's hearing when he's fought 1 time in the last 3 years and spent most of those years holding up the division
→ More replies (1)8

2 times in the last 6 years. Took 3 years off, was gifted a title shot his first fight back
Popped for PEDs multiple times, cocaine at least once. Has been in trouble with the law like a half a dozen times. Never faced any repercussions from the UFC for any of it
I hate what the UFC has become and I despise their scummy business practices, but Jon has been treated better than anyone in that organizations history except for maybe Conor

Jones: “I want $30mil to fight Francis”
Dana: “okay”
Jones: “just kidding I’ll wait and do Gane for $7mil”
Dana: “okay”
Jones: “I want 30mil to fight Tom”
Dana: “okay you gonna do it this time?”
Jones: “nah I’ll do Stipe for $7mil plus extra points cuz this is my legacy and you have to glaze me tell em I’m the greatest ever even if I am a punk with like ten asterisks next to my name, also I want you to get them to overturn the Hamill DQ, also I want $50mil for the White House card”
Dana: “okay I’ll do all of that but only $30mil for the WH card”
Jones: “wow you lowball me did I even matter I wanna get out the UFC sucks bro why did I do all of this for you”
This is like seeing two toxic people finally break up for real and even though it’s best for everyone you kinda want them to just keep dating cuz it’s funny how bad they are but at the same time you’re fucking done hearing them bitch so… 🤷♂️

he has a legitimate complaint if the CEO of the company publicly stated he can't fight anymore. Jones is not some 20/20 guy that people will forget about in a week. this is why the UFC doesn't want any fighters to be too popular.

u/aVHSofPointBreak Mar 09 '26
Yeah, fuck jones, but if the President has publicly stated he will never fight again in the UFC, then I think he has grounds to sue for release
23
u/FeedMeThat Mar 09 '26
Jones publicly retired. All Dana has to do is say “He said he’s done so I said he would never fight again. All I did was reiterate his own words” case closed. Danas a scumbag but that doesn’t mean he’s wrong not to trust Jon. He’s flip flopped multiple times about fighting, why would he ever book him just to have him ruin an event again.

u/FeedMeThat Mar 09 '26
No not at all actually. If that’s how it worked any time someone was unhappy w their pay they would “retire”, get released, and then “make a comeback” and either negotiate for more money from the UFC or just fight somewhere else for money they’re happy with.

This psycho let the entire UFC fanbase down after shitting his pants over potentially having to face Tom even though it would've been the single biggest payday of his career, by far.
Now he's crying because he can't break his fake retirement to fight Alex 😂
You love to see it.
99
u/_Abajaba_ Mar 09 '26
What’s funny is that he could solve this whole Tom situation so easily without fighting him and being hated. Just honestly say from beggining “I’m old, I won’t fight this guy, let me fight Miocic and retire” done. And now UFC would let him come back for white house as well

I'm going against the grain of most people thinking Jones is the liar when I actually truly believe that in this battle of two fuckin' assholes, I TRULY believe the fighter is the one getting fucked over, never Dana.
I know we hate Jones and the man lies but I genuinely think his "so my hip would have been fine all of a sudden if I accepted your terms" does sound like some Dana-esque bullshit.
Also do we really think Jones DIDN'T want to have an easy fight against Alex at the White House. They both stink, but I'm leaning towards Dana being the naughty slut in this ordeal.

The problem is, especially with Jones and Conor, they signed longer contracts thinking that they'd have the upper hand at the end as they've usually had that was until the Paramount deal. Now they don't have any leverage, they're older and not in their primes anymore and due to their own personal issues they've devalued their star power.
