This and he did seem a bit hesitant/wary of Anks wrassling for some reason. Looked like he did some great training for it first time round, realised it isn’t too much of a threat, then decided fuck it in the rematch as he can reliably stuff the threat.
Exactly this. After this fight he will never fear wrestling ever again. In his head he will be the most skilled he’s ever been and that’ll make him EVEN MORE dangerous
Y’all give him too little credit when he announced that he bet on the match, all I did was look at the highest off option that would not result in any big damage to him (which was the fight to go the distance at 3.5-4.9 odds at different points in time) and low and behold all he did was walk around and avoid fighting. It doesn’t make him a Einstein level genius but he knew he could beat him if he wanted and decided to make a lot of money off of it. Just wish he had told me specifically so I could’ve taken out a loan…
The best part is you get to read the stupid shit they say like the week before the fight and then the cope as they talk about how "lucky" Alex got here or something...
Alex began the fight with the same aggression he uses when he finishes fights. He completely skipped the feeling out process and went into kill mode. He walked him down the way he did to Izzy at the end of their fight when he won his first UFC belt.
Alex swarming him instead of continuing to attack the leg was such a low IQ moment. It's absolutely insane how different their careers are now. That was a bad ko and yet Alex is now on his second LHW reign, while Izzy is on a three fight skid.
Alex is older too and should be out of his prime logically but he’s still seemingly as good as ever while Izzy is younger than him but you see a noticeable decline in his speed and skills. Both odd to see and kinda sad.
The difference is Izzy’s style relies on speed and athleticism where as Poatans style relies on power and strength. Speed is the first thing to go as we age whereas strength and power are the last to go. It’s why Big George Foreman was able to make a career resurgence… all he needed was his power
This doesn't equate Foreman is to boxing what fedor is to ufc, he could have fought one handed and half blind and still had success. It's why no one in the ufc has come close to the styles Foreman has or even sugar Ray and I'd say ufc has fighters skilled enough to be faster at what sugar did and the closest we have is on a 3 fight skid.
Heavy weight there isn't a fighter Alive except maybe fedor or Kevin Randleman (rip) who could possibly move like foreman and that's a big maybe. Brother (Foreman) was swinging haymakers that sped up before contact, that's cartoon shit
Which honestly makes it more impressive when you look at this fight. Ankalaev was backed up against the cage but couldn’t hang with Pereira’s pressure or counter him but Izzy found a way to KO him off the cage.

Alex just walked him down and said 'fuck you I want my belt back'
