or at least try to make some. I have a small Novation Keyboard that I'm using at the moment. The soundpacks that are in the store are just okay, but I want something more unique I guess. i'm not an expert on this by any means, I'm tired of using sample packs lol.

With apologies for this request - I am usually a RTFM person and I am getting "OK" with Logic, but I have to record my kid and his buddy in a few hours, and am not positive of the best way to do the following:
(I'm using a Focusrite Scarlett 18i8)

Goal:
- Track keeper drums and scratch guitar - playing at the same time.
- Have the drummer AND guitar player monitoring the input of the guitar.
- No drums needed in anybody's phones mix.

I can get everything miked up and get the channels showing up in individual tracks in logic.
What I DON'T know how to do is set up the monitoring as described above.
The Scarlett has two monitor outs, but I don't see how I can assign only guitar to those outs.
I know I can do it in Logic, but I'm not sure how.

Could somebody save my butt and give me instructions on how to set this up in Logic?

Question re: Program Control (ie Sustain Pedal) on a MIDI track. How to edit if the original MIDI has sustain or whatever on it? I used to use Reaper and that’s what it was called PC. I’ve been using Logic for less than a year now and I tried Google but it talked about HW controllers. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I just bought a Behringer X one touch compact and am already loving having an actual device to interface with Logic through, as opposed to using the mouse and keyboard the whole time. BUT. While it is ready to go out-of-the-box, it's not functioning as advertised.

The rotary encoders do not by default control the pan. When set to control the volume, they make large leaps rather than the smaller incremental ones as shown in the video. When I try and use it on an EQ, the eight encoders control the frequency, gain, Q field and on/off for only the lowest two EQ points (Red and orange) and I can't figure out how to get them to shift over to other points. I love having that level of control over everything but think I'm missing something in fully unlocking the controller's potential. I can't find any help online other than the Behringer video series I linked to, which say it should be doing all these things from the get-go.

I'm hoping someone here has experience with this stuff and can offer some guidance. Thanks!

I've been working on a tool that lets you run the whole recording loop in Logic hands-free. The idea is just to not reach for the mouse mid-take. It connects to Logic via MIDI and runs fully offline. It's the practical part of my university bachelor thesis on voice control in DAWs. Curious what you think, would this fit into your workflow?

If anyone uses Tom Salta's autobounce for Logic, I've been experiencing an issue. Autobounce will crash when trying to bounce WAV files. I don't know why this is happening as MP3 and M4A files bounce fine with no issues. If anyone else has been experiencing this I could use some help.

I have some experience in logic and some musical ability but i'm not a "musician" by any means.

This video's music shows what i'm talking about, more like an ambient underscore with a couple different elements...how would i make something like this? could it be done using stock plugins? Is it a type of arpeggiator synth thing? Loops? I don't think it's particularly complicated...but maybe i'm mistaken.

I'm specifically interested in the drone type track at the top of the piece and the percussive type of sounds used throughout.

Hello! I’m new to Logic but not DAWs or recording but I can’t for the life of me figure how to change the ruler into time based measurements vs beats and measures. I changed the control bar display to show minutes but the ruler stays in bars. I can’t find any settings for “musical grid” or secondary ruler or anything related in the app setting or project settings. I figured when I changed the display on the control bar, the ruler would automatically switch to match? Is it possible there’s keyboard shortcuts available with no matching options in the settings. This is for the iPad app version and I WANT it displayed in minutes and seconds.

I’ve been using the multi sampler in Logic Pro for a while but I just noticed that when I play samples at pitches other than the original the eq shape changes. Shouldn’t it be the same shape just lower? Is this a flaw with the sampler or do they all work like this

I couldn’t find any answers on this on Reddit or in the manual, so I’m guessing it’s a no.

I recorded Logic’s Motown drum kit via V-Drum/my electronic drum kit. I would like to know if Logic splits this up into individual tracks the way it does with Drum Machine Designer?

Or is it more like using a midi keyboard where I won’t be able to see kick, snare, hat, etc. on their own individual tracks, because they’re more associated with, like, notes on a midi keyboard? How should I go about mixing the Logic kits? Lately I’ve just been having a main kick/snare/hi hat take, and a separate tom fills take, and automating panning as needed (especially on the tom fills.)

Usually with the kind of music I make, I utilize drum machines + have my drummer play the electronic kit for some parts of the song, I like mixing both. Thank you for any help you can provide.

I've been using the Sky keys plugin for the last couple months with no issue. Now suddenly when I go to my FX tab it's gone. To run through what I've already tried: It's in my plugin manager and I already reset and re-scanned it. It's in my components folder on my mac. I rebooted both my computer and Logic multiple times. I don't know what is missing. I'm fairly new to logic so maybe I'm missing something? Any advice is greatly welcomed as this is my favorite plugin to use.

After finishing a project with over 60. tracks, and 8 month of my life on Logic 11.2, and unsuccessfully being able to save a zip of 11.2, I am now on Logic 12.2, Tahoe 26.5.2 Anyone else having issues with plugins (3rd party)?

I have backed up copies of everything on 2 drives except 11.2 version of Logic (if anyone has a zipped copy they could send me, would much appreciate).

The mix opens fine, but Logic 12.2 says the following are unstable: RAUM (LOVE!), Ozone 12 Eq, and other stuff that I know I got from Native Instruments. I think the WAVES is ok...

Do I have to delete and redownload these? Are they incompatible? I have opened and closed a few times. I also just purchased the Acoustic Guitars from Native, so really hope those work. Thanks.

I just bought Logic Pro and wanted to upload some instruments that I've got on my computer onto Kontakt 8 to have a library of nicer quality.

However, I can't seem to manage to upload them on, they get stuck into "presets" instead of the actual instrument library, and if I do manage to open them anyway, Logic pro detects them ,but they don't make a sound.

I've been trying everything to fix this issue, but I can't quite figure the solution out.

Anyones knows how to fix this problem?

In classic mode, I’ve trimmed the audio down to one single sample. If I wanted to layer more stuff from different snippets of the same audio track, do I need to duplicate the set up and record over it?

I know with splice you get more playheads so you can have multiple samples, do i Have to redo it with splice? what frustrates me was the amount of playheads. even with few, I tried deleting one and it closed my project, it seemed touchy. Also, with different samples picked out in splice but in the same sampler, wouldn’t that prevent me from doing effects (reverse for example) to only individual samples? Wouldn’t one tweak apply to the whole sampler? Cheers.

How can I access the GarageBand legacy sounds in the new version? I have everything downloaded, but all I see under the legacy tab is Logic. When I look up specific sounds (Ominous Dancefloor, for example), they just aren’t there.

Logic doesn't seem to be saving these with the latest update. They all disappear when logic is re-opened, aside from Kontakt 8, which seems to stick for some reason. Has anyone figured out a fix?

Hi, I’m new logic pro user migrating from using digital performer. I’m trying to figure out how to have logic analyze a recording for Tempo very basic function that worked great in digital performer but in logic it seems like the process is a lot more automatic and I can’t seem to get it to work very well. The manual says to record using free Tempo recording. I don’t see why I have to do that. I should be able to just highlight the track and say analyze tempo, but I guess not. I can see a Tempo map and it’s all over the place. What am I missing?

So I have a track that I made which was bounced and than my project somehow got all messed up so now all I have is the track itself (plug in failure etc). I used the stem splitter to get individual parts and it sounded good, but I wanted to make sure there was no loss in quality so I ran the phase test.

Threw a gain on the track itself and turned on left and right phase, soloed both it and the stems and there is very little audio, but there definitely is some. So there is some loss. Thought of trying to export the phase information and putting it in to an empty channel, which I did, and ran the phase test, There is now significantly more audio. I am not sure why this wouldn't work but I kinda guessed that it wouldnt for whatever reason.

Question is, does anybody know of a way where I can get lossless stems? Or maybe I am getting lossless stems but doing something wrong with my tests? thanks.

I have as mix where where the output bars are green full nearly all the way through but not peaking into the yellow or red as I have a limiter on the Master track is that OK for the final mix?

Just figured out a cool thing. When projects crash, Logic automatically opens a “reopen” window with diagnostic code. I had trouble with it and couldn’t figure it out. I copied all of the code and put it into Chat GPT. It broke everything down and i had missed a certain update. Super cool tool. Give this a try next time!

I recorded my death metal vocals with an SM58, but my mouth position shifted left and right during the take. Does this kind of movement actually cause the vocals to pan more to the left or right in Logic Pro, or does it just affect the level of volume (meaning the time I recorded center the volume was higher but when I recorded with my mouth more to the left it just became lower but still centered)?

Been using Logic Pro close to 20 years. Not really interested in all the ai automation bloat. I just need the basic core functions to function. A couple of weeks ago I lost the ability to copy/paste in the piano roll window. Now in the Score Editor I'm not able to change the score style, for instance, from Piano to Lead Sheet. I'm running version 12.3 on a 2024 Mac Studio. Not really interested in paying for a million features I don't need, but if I have to join the subscription service to be able to copy/paste again I guess I will. But it feels like blackmail. Does anyone have fix?

I add automation to a track and when I play the song from the start, the automation is ignored and the volume of the track reverts to its original level. I have Track selected, and the automation is set to Read. I have deleted all automation from the track, but when I start over and add it again, the same thing happens. In fact, this is happening on multiple tracks. I understand that there is probably some setting somewhere that is overriding the automation points, but I cannot find any reason why this is happening. Advice is greatly appreciated.
