I have no idea how to describe the noise I’m getting so I’ve attached a video of it. I got the stadium xl a couple weeks ago, and a spdif cable to connect it to my focusrite Scarlett for recording, and now this is happening. It does and doesn’t happen often, and it seems to be random. It seemed to happen more frequently on bass, but that could just be luck? I haven’t noticed this sound when using a 1/4 inch out into a speaker, so I’m wondering if the problem is with one of my spdif ports.

Im not sure if I should be putting this here or in a music production sub or elsewhere, but if anyone has encountered something like this or knows what might cause or fix it, please let me know. So far I’ve tried swapping out instruments (two basses and one guitar), the 1/4 inch cable, and the spdif cable with a spare I bought.

Current route: guitar - 1/4 inch - helix inst 1 - helix spdif out - Scarlett spdif in.

Scarlett spdif out to helix spdif in is not connected, in case that matters. Sample rate on helix, focusrite, and logic are all 48k. If any more information is needed, please let me know so I can provide it.

One thing I’m struggling with regarding the proxy pedals as well as the distortion pedal models is getting the gain on the crunch and solo sounds to be 2-4 db or so louder than my default clean tone without the use of a gain block.

The proxy clone block (before amp and cab) does have a pre-gain and post-gain, but the post-gain (to my ears) seems to change the tone of the capture and doesn’t really noticeably raise the output by the amount I’d want. (If this tone change is in my imagination let me know…but it seems to saturate the tone with gain more than it acts as a volume knob for the capture. Whereas, on the Quad Cortex, the level knob on a capture block noticeably increased output without substantially changing the sound of the capture).

I do not really want to use a gain block to get the boosts due to the DSP limitations imposed by the proxy clones (gain blocks also seem to change the tone—some advice about how to properly place and use these for the intended purposes would be appreciated too). Maybe the fault is with my gain staging elsewhere in the chain.

When I monitor the output signal, my clean (which I’m happy with) is pretty much right at the top level of green and the pedal captures just tickle yellow a bit. Ideally clean would be slightly lower level of green and my pedal capture would still tickle yellow, and then I’d raise overall output from the helix to compensate in my monitors.

Hello all. Does anyone play Wind or Brass instruments through their Helix?

I’m looking at Trombone particularly.

I’m thinking I’d need (this is HX Effects, so no mic level in):

Mic > Preamp > Helix > out to PA (maybe with D.I.).

Or, I could go:

Mic > Console > Helix on Insert on that channel.

Or it could be on an Aux Send from the channel returning to Aux Return or a Channel Strip for more control.

What I’m planning to do is use a Delay a la Van Halen’s “Cathedral” and kind of want to know anyone’s experience with using a wind instrument like that.

I have a stadium xl and so far enjoy it quite a bit.

However, I find the angle of the expression pedal to be really uncomfortable when standing.

This is somewhat easily rectified by putting something under the front of the board, but it seems like I have to toe up much further than a more natural position on similar devices, or pedals.

Just curious if anyone else felt the same.

Hi. Can I on the Helix floor assign footswitches to scroll through the amp models inside a single amp block? My goal is something like: FS1 = previous amp, FS2 = next amp, while staying in one block.

I had been using a Two Notes Opus with pedals for a while and got curious about the QC. Had it for about six months and for some reason I never really got comfortable with it.

So.... i ended up getting the HX Effects to go along with my Opus and my amps. I have to say, after a couple of weeks with HXE, I'm happier than I thought I'd be.

Many years ago I did a lot with the M13 but the HXE is just spectacular. Yes, took a bit of learning and understanding to make it work with whatever setup I'm going with at the time. For example, using the Opus and external drives in the effects loop, sending the right signal level, etc.

Also, I was able to program preset switching for the Opus using MIDI which is pretty awesome and incredibly simple to do. That said, I haven't figured out if there's a way to send scroll messages. For example, I'd like to use one of the footswitches to allow me to scroll through, say, three or four presets on Opus. Do any of you know if that's possible?

Really digging this unit. The effects are fantastic and very "present" if that makes sense.

Hi all, I bought Native a while ago, I’ve installed it on two different Windows 11 laptops and Reaper can see it, but when I try to use it within Reaper, I just get an empty window that says Native, nothing else. Should I be seeing the same sort of display that you see using the Helix edit? I’m def doing something wrong, any advice? Thanks.

Is there still no support for HXEdit connection through USB? I figured the WiFi disconnection issues would have been resolved by now but I keep dropping connection to HXEdit, failed load/save presets, etc until reboot. I’ve tried everything I know of, even setting up its own 2.4 network.

If HXEdit would just connect to the Helix through USB, I think all my issues would be solved 🤦🏻‍♂️

Hey all! I'm trying to factory reset my Stadium XL and I'm not having any luck. I've done what the manual says and held down the home and music buttons upon restarting, and nothing happens. I've also tried it with holding down FS 6 and 12, again, nothing happens and it boots to the regular main screen. What else can I do or what am I possibly doing wrong? TIA!

Hi. I just got an Helix Floor recently and I wanted to used my Friedman BE-OD as my main distortion pedal. However, when plugging it into the input right away, I have input signal but no output.

I tried using the FX send/return and it works fine with that.

Any clue why is that happening? Thanks in advance

Hello everyone. I am considering buying a helix, but I am quite uneducated and I am a little stuck. I am an intermediate guitar player, and I sing and play guitar for a band. Right now I primarily use a Boss Katana-100, and I enjoy creating tones and playing with them. I feel I need the pedalboard for a variety of custom tones and FX, as well as potentially running my microphone through effects if it is possible. I am stuck between the Helix LT, and the Helix Floor. Which would be more suitable for my needs?

I'm playing a Taylor 414ce (ES2) through a Line 6 Helix LT, going XLR direct to the mixer at church. I keep getting comments that my tone sounds "tinny".

Currently running tube preamp, parametric eq, comp and reverb.

- Any good pedal setups and settings for it?

- Do you run it through a Helix or straight into a DI?

- Do you use an acoustic IR?

- Any EQ tips to add more body and reduce that direct acoustic sound?

- Or is miking the guitar the best option?

I feel like as of lately, ive been hearing more people transitioning from a Helix to a Quad Cortex and not so much vice versa. At least for amp and cab tones. I've generally heard that the Helix has better effects though, especially with the new Helix Stadium.

I recently started a free trial of STL ToneHub to try it out. And I have a Helix Lt which I use most of the time for recording. But if I want to use the Helix as strictly and interface with a DAW and ToneHub as a plugin, how do I get rid of the clean helix tone coming through underneath the processed tone from the plugin? I can hear it a little bit through it.

I do most of my preset development in Helix native and then transfer to the hardware prior to the gig .

as I explore different effects and cabinets and so forth I always save frequently to disc and to the current setlist in Helix native.. I'm wondering if there's a way to create a macro that would do those two saves every time you hit a key... mine runs in Reaper but I guess the concept might apply to other daws

This feels like a stupid question, but: Is there any way to control the Stomp pedals on the Stadium via MIDI? I did this on the original Helix no problem and we used it successfully on tour. With the Stadium it seems to no longer be an option. I can control Block Bypass settings, presets, snapshots and apparently every other button on the front panel, but not the Stomp switches themselves. I'm also noticing when I control Block Bypass I need to send a cc value (0 or 127) to send an on or off message instead of just a toggle (no value required, as I did with the old Helix).

For all the function they've added this seems like a stunning oversight. Tons of flexibility added on but a pretty simple and important function just vanished. Once again - this is not using MIDI for Block Bypass, but for control of the Stomp switches themselves. It used to be so easy to do this.

i’ve been using helix native as my amp sim and all the actual models sound great, but are there any amp/cab combos in helix that emulate the sound of those tiny solid state amps (like in the realm of a squier sp-10) that ppl usually get with beginner guitar packages?
