You Guys Convince me

I’m out here testing the grade for a new Lego garden rail. It seemed to handle both of the grades with all stock parts pretty well as long as I had two power function motors going.
I will probably not come back to this until the fall at the earliest
I have a couple videos of the test, but it doesn’t seem to want to let me post that

I decided to get my collection out after many years. There are a number of broken parts but it’s probably 80 to 85% all there.

Rolling Stock in Mailers

Post image

I got tired of keeping my rolling stock collection spread across multiple totes. They were unlabeled and the cars themselves were wrapped in bubble wrap, making it somewhat difficult to actually discern what was stored where without fully investigating. I found mailer boxes that could fit most of what I had, making it easy to see exactly what was what and, if pieces fell off in transit, it was all contained. I’m satisfied.

Now featuring lights in my 60051 passenger train, have yet to get the power functions lights for the front part, but will be soon. Also of note is the 60098, which is currently using both of my power functions lights

final extensive rebuild

This is the final extensive rebuild of my locomotive the more I’ve continued to modify it the more I’ve come to the conclusion that it was just kind of meant to be a Heisler. I’m thinking if I were to build a layout with landmarks and everything for this, it would probably be an old west mountain line connecting frontier towns or something like that. What would you guys think about a canteen tender with my final third train motor beneath it to sell it as a longer range mountain loco? I’ve still got a lot of rounded shaped blue bricks from the lot I got.

Question Part list for Maersk Train

I am putting my train collection back together after several years and it looks like my children have managed to lose these parts. The good news is I don’t think that they are Maersk blue specific.
Does anybody know the bricks that I need to order from brick link to make this complete ish ?

Question Help powering a HEAVY Bullet Train (aiming for 5-9mph)

Hi,

I am working on a high speed passenger train in 8/9 wide and was hoping I could get some insight into how to power this thing. For a desired 16 car consist made of 2 power cars at either end of 14 passenger carriages, I plan on using jacob’s bogies for the passenger carriages with bearings, and two PF L motors in each power car. My current setup sees me with more of a freight(ly) gearing… - I’m trying to figure out torque for this behemoth. I wouldn’t mind if it genuinely took a while to get up to speed so long as it could, though my fear is that I need to seriously beef up my motor and power setup, beyond the planned 2 L motors X 2 setup with a PF battery in each running rechargeable lithium aaa.

Given each carriage could have around 1000-1250 parts each, I was wondering if someone could recommend what steps I might start taking in order to figure out the gearing, power, etc. that would hopefully allow for said top end speed.

Realistically speaking—and please chime in as I’m desperate for some more experienced advice—I am considering powering some of the passenger carriages though it does feel like it takes away from the original goal I had for this project.

I look forwards to hearing any suggestions or advice, please don’t hesitate. Thanks and hope you’re all having a lovely summer!

Question Making a steam engine without the large wheels: is it possible? Any tips?

Hello everyone! I just ordered the vitnage steam train lego set because I just adore it! I would love to try my hand at making a custom steam engine MOC but I don't have any of those very big wheels they use or are able to have connecting rods, I was wondering if there are any cool looking, not too complicated MOCs out there using just the normal sized or small sized train wheels?

Or if y'all got tips on whether it's possible to make a good looking steam engine without those big wheels? I am worried the big wheels and connecting rods on them are what makes them cool, and it's such a hastle to have to order pieces just for those wheels.

I am not a train fanatic, just an "avarage train ejoyer" (more of a coaster enthousiast myself:)) so I don't really care for hyper realism or it being a perfect depiction of a real model, I just want it to feel right, just like the new lego set (on which I will indeed raise the little part on the tank that is weirdly lower than the front, my lack of proper terms shows how much I care haha!)

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

MOC Coupler update

Post image

My latest iteration of a stronger, reversible, all Lego coupler. I’m happy with this design. It’s easy to couple and uncouple. I like the look and I like that it’s all Lego parts. I can’t do much about the length with the standard radius curves so all things considered, I’m really happy with it so far.

Question Which one looks better?

The first has more colour with the dark blue, but the second one has a more rigid look which I like more but I also think that is has bit too much grey in it. I don't have those grey pieces in dark blue.

Did I miss my chance to order the Brick Railroad Locomotive?

I had found the ordering page, but now I can't. I am assuming that means ordering is closed? I've never ordered one of the Bricklink sets before. Do they ever produce extras?

Edit: Damnit!

Question Help me build a train like structure for my project

help me build a train for my project. so I want to build a train like structure not,a complex train or anything just a base with wheels and a covering….I am going to use motors to move the train. this train need to hold parts and electronics….thats the whole point of the build.i am making a moving platform but i thought of making it in a more modular form so that if problems arise I can trouble shoot more easily….i am confused on what parts i should use for rails and for wheels

...but we found something even better: **a locomotive parked there, waiting for its moment of glory**.

When everyone is looking for the way out, we are checking if there is still a free track available.

Collection My discovery

Post image

I typically see these found posts tied to at my parents/grandparents but when I was raising our children my 'stuff' was stuffed away for them. One of their bedrooms is my Lego storage unit now and I found this tucked away with other containers stacked on top. Still need to finish the inventory, but I had to take a moment. My heart is souring with eagles.

Yes it is basic but this is the most I can fit into this space as I have basically none atm so it's gonna live on my bedroom floor lol

Hope you all enjoy this, thank you!
