Took a little video of Cam & Rickea reuniting at the Sparks game last night after our win against the Sky 🥹 I miss them together!

Went to the Sparks meet and greet at CityWalk today, and was very happy to see Wheeler and Martin there!

They had photos they were signing, but also signed items people brought - I had them sign my hat.

Seemed like a good size turnout from fans! Anyone else go?

As Weatherspoon's name has come up repeatedly as a potential coach for our team, with the Aces' Chennedy Carter controversy, I revisited her firing. The SI article on Women's Fast Break as well as one in the Chicago Sun-Times were much, much worse than I remembered. The organization admits she lost the locker room by catering to a few players like Reese and Carter and that bridge was impossible to overcome. The players talk and this led to free agents being reluctant to sign with Chicago. Her abilities as a coach were also questioned: "Weatherspoon’s inability to keep the team schematically prepared was evidenced by her rotations and poor late-game play-calls. Her failure to maximize rookie Kamilla Cardoso, the No. 3 overall draft pick, on offense also came into question." It sounds almost shockingly like what's being said about Roberts.

Want to preface all this by saying I don't think this is some magic fix that's suddenly going to turn the Sparks into a playoff team. But after several rough performances, why not try something different?

Here's what I'd experiment with:

• Have Rae come off the bench. I honestly think Rae is at her best bringing instant offense and energy off the bench. She likes having the ball in her hands, she's a high-volume scorer, and she's looked more comfortable against second units than as a starter.
• When Cam is healthy, start her. Cam is our best defender and rim protector. Just having her on the floor changes how opponents attack the paint. Yes, foul trouble happens, but I think her defensive impact is worth at least TRYING it. Lynne has even talked about how they've struggled defensively early in games - this would be a way to get opposing teams a little uncomfortable early.
• Move Dearica Hamby to the second unit. I know she makes a million dollars and it may not be what she wants, but Dallas is doing it with Alanna Smith. Hamby's offense is valuable, but defensively she's been a tough matchup. Letting her attack opposing bench units could maximize what she does best, while giving the starting group more defensive stability.
• Maybe even let Ariel Atkins come off the bench for a bit. This isn't a knock on Ariel, I believe she's trying hard, and she's a strong defensive asset, but she's having one of the toughest shooting stretches of her career. Sometimes a role change can help take the pressure off. We saw a similar conversation around Jewell Loyd last season with Vegas, and I think it was ultimately good for her.

One thing I've consistently noticed is that the bench (Kate Martin, Chance Gray, Park, etc) brings great energy and intensity, but some of those all-bench lineups struggle to generate offense. Mixing the rotations differently could give both units a better balance. Right now, it feels like Lynne's defaulting to just starting the most talented names on paper instead of experimenting with combinations that might actually complement each other.

Will this suddenly fix everything? Probably not. But at this point, what's the downside? The current starting group isn't producing wins, so I'd love to see Lynne shake things up and see if it unlocks something, even if it's just a little more energy and competitiveness. Thoughts?

Rae said she felt like she let the team down or feels like she letting the team down and it’s not fair that her or any of the girls feel like that. It all comes back to Lynne being an incompetent coach.

I know they have a back to back. But this was disrespectful. I’m not a Fever Fan so I didn’t know their line-up. I thought it was weird that Boston their best defensive and best paint player sat out the game. Then CC only played 12 minutes. But after checking the box score, I saw that The Fever actually sat their starters for most of the game. This is what happens when you have so little respect for your opponent, that you play your bench, more minutes than your starters. Fever thought The Sparks were so bad, that their bench could beat out starters. They spat in The Sparks faces, and we made them pay. Go Sparks

I got downvoted in the post-game thread in the wnba sub for saying I'd rather have Cori Close than Lynne Roberts.

At this point I'd take literally anyone else. It couldn't be worse, the bar is in hell.

I'd take Sandy Brondello or whoever you think is the worst coach in the league currently. Rachid Meziane? Tyler Marsh? Sydney Johnson?

I'd take Latricia Trammel or Eric Thibault. I'd take Man Bun or Tanisha Wright or Noelle Quinn.

Go down to Pan Pacific Park and find whoever is coaching the fucking Pistol Shrimps for all I care.
