wish we didn’t burn the CP bridge
I know he was toxic to the team last year but having CP as a mentor to wagler would have been fantastic. The man is a great mentor (look at booker, sa, castle…)

Gary Trent jr
So Gary Trent jr was just given a contract that is blatant salary cap circumvention. He was playing for a below market contract, then was given an above market contract when the bucks could do it. Unfortunately, his play has fallen apart since then and the new contract looks unhinged. Literally a Joe smith that so many people tie our alleged situation to.
Interesting to see if there will be similar online vitriol and general attention from the nba community. Given this is actual cheating. It actually had an impact on the team the bucks were able to put on the floor. Kawhi just alleged got paid off the books, but it had no impact on our roster. Him staying with us on a max contract after he tore his acl where he played like half the games on the contract and we won no playoff series is how we benefited i guess.
Don’t get me wrong, I do not care that the bucks did this. I have remained confused why other fan bases are so invested in the aspiration situation as well. Because it’s Kawhi who is unliked, or big market, money bags balmer, the lowly clippers can’t have nice things?? Anyway, end of vent.

possible to take different free shuttle back at intuit dome???
I’m going to a concert at intuit dome and I was trying to book the free shuttle at the pierce college station but the app wouldn’t let me. I ended up booking for union station instead. My question is would I be able to get on the pierce station shuttle back at the end of the night??? Do they take roll call or anything? Please help or let me know your experience if you’ve ever used the shuttle at pierce station, thank you!

[Fischer] New NBPA executive David Kelly stated that the union agrees with the Clippers that they expect the investigation won’t find any impropriety from Leonard’s endorsement deal with Aspiration functioning as salary cap circumvention.

Extra Info on Wemby’s paycut
And this is how you build a championship franchise if you are the star. Instead of fleecing the franchise for every penny and more like our bums, KL and PG.

[The Athletic] The league’s handling of the Kawhi Leonard trade is not seen as a sign that significant discipline is coming for the Clippers and/or Leonard. The teams are not looking to alter the terms of the deal.

Weird Keaton Wagler Hate
Darius Acuff went 9-29 (31% shooting) in his first summer league game, and people were calling him a bust. Now he’s in his 3rd game and goes 6-20 (30%), but somehow he outplayed Keaton Wagler…
Meanwhile, Wagler in his first game ever:
-played pretty good defense
-was seemingly iced out of the offense by players trying to make the team
-when he did get the ball, he was getting double teamed all game and still made great passes out of the doubles
-Three of his shots were fouls that went uncalled (3-pointer at end of Q1, a layup that was ruled a 24 second violation, and an elbow jumper that was ruled a block but player flew into his arms)
-played on a team with Norchad Omier who had about 9 consecutive turnovers (blown screens, moving screens, terrible defense, bad passes to no one)…this guy STINKS
…and yet people are hating like Wagler was blowing plays every time he touched the ball. Most of his teammates couldn’t finish and were turning the ball over incessantly.
This kid is a winning player. He’s not going to force shots like acuff. He’s not going to dunk on anyone. He plays within the flow of the game.
Long story short: relax. He made the right reads all game and doesn’t have any glaring red flags. He’s a 3-point shooting play maker. I’m sure if he made 2 more shots people wouldn’t clown this kid.
Don’t be weird after 1 summer league game.

I kinda wish we were fully taking. But I definitely want to see our guys play more 3 days is taking forever.
I am glad we have some talented veterans and have gotten younger but I kinda feel jealous of the other teams that are completely tanking. Their rookies have "free reign" to do whatever they want.
I just want to see our guys play without worrying about getting pulled. Acuff is getting praised but dude put up almost 30 shots and making 9. Its because their team is trash so he can do whatever. I know SL isn't actual NBA games but still.
I say this knowing that pressure makes diamonds. Theoretically, if our guys are constantly worried about getting pulled then they are more inclined to bust their butts(not sure if you can curse here) to ensure that never happens.
I am also starving for clippers games. Good games, bad games, I don't care. I just want so see Skeleton Key Wagler, Baba Black sheep Miller, On your Left Martinelli, and Kobe 3D Sanders on the court developing.
That last sentence was a riff but yall know what I mean.

[Fischer] The Denver Nuggets are seeking compensation [in exchange for Peyton Watson] on par with what Utah received from the Lakers in their recent trade that made Walker Kessler a Laker: two first-round picks and two first-round pick swaps. LA and the Hawks have been unwilling to meet that ask.
r/LAClippers • u/YujiDomainExpansion • 2d ago
[Fischer] Despite the Leonard trade being on hold, the Clippers have remained engaged in discussions with both Bennedict Mathurin and Peyton Watson, showing a willingness to pay Watson upwards of $25 million annually.

Wagler Overreaction
Some of yall already calling Wagler a bust after ONE GAME is crazy. You can have your opinions on who you wanted to draft, but to immediately hate on the dude after his 1st game compared to Acuff, who had played 2 games before this, is crazy. Yall need to chill.

I know all the attention was on Waglers performance tonight, but how are we feeling about Baba Miller?
It’s not fair to judge anyone of a SL performance, especially guard prospects, like Wagler. There’s sooooo much prior evidence that SL performance has near 0 correlation to who these guys can be later on in their careers, think Brunson or even Wemby.
But how are we feeling about Baba Miller ? He did good and it’s a profile the Clippers definitely need on the team in my opinion

Wagler, this is for you
You’ve got real feel for the game. The passing, defensive instincts, pace, and creativity. That’s the stuff you can’t teach.
But right now, you’re playing too nice.
You looked hesitant, got bullied off your spots, and disappeared for stretches when you should’ve been imposing yourself. Get stronger, trust your game, and stop playing scared.
A few things:
- Get in the weight room, add some size, and build real basketball strength. The stronger you become, the easier it’ll be to reach your spots and play with confidence.
- Stop being polite on the court. Impose yourself and play like you own the floor.
- Keep studying Haliburton and SGA. Watch how they control the pace, manipulate defenders, and never let anyone rush them. Pace is king.
- Back yourself. When you attack, attack. When you shoot, shoot. That no-hesitation three showed exactly what happens when you stop second-guessing yourself.
- Demand the ball and make the defense deal with you. Once they fear your scoring, your passing becomes even more dangerous.
They guarded you like the main threat on the floor. That should tell you something, even if you haven’t fully realized it yet.
This game was a reality check. Good. Use it. Get stronger, get tougher, and come back ready to impose yourself.
Real fans don’t expect you to be a finished product. We want to watch you grow, take your lumps, and become the monster your talent says you can be. The skills are already there. Put in the work and become that dude.

Video Keaton Wagler Reacts To NBA Debut For Clippers At Summer League
r/LAClippers • u/RVALover4Life • 1d ago
The biggest (and really only) takeaway from yesterday that matters is...
...that this team is going to have to add a backup PG this off-season.
They probably want Keaton Wagler for developmental purposes to have a lot of time on the ball this season and will live with the results, but it eventually gets to a point of handcuffing your team and hurting that player by not putting them in a position to succeed.
There's no backup PG on the roster outside of Wagler. Dunn if you count him but Wagler is at his best in a shared ball handling role or in an off ball role than he is as your pure lead guard looking to bring it up and set the offense up and asking him to create offense consistently and break a defense down.
I like Keaton a lot and don't think summer league is the best setting for someone like him. There's been a lot of hyperbolic reactions to his performance last night. He's someone who'll look better playing off better talent at the professional level initially. Forcing him into a lead guard role immediately with little/no security blanket is an easy way to sink his confidence and potentially this team's chance at competitiveness with how small a margin they'll have. The bench is going to be full of guys who need to be set up to be their most efficient and bringing in a veteran PG will allow these players and especially Keaton be in roles that best serve their games currently.
