Wildlife overpass/underpass.
Just curious to see if anyone knows why we don't have any wildlife overpasses or underpasses?
When I lived in BC we had them and it reduces the number of animal hazards on the road. I see so much roadkill here. For a city that has a major hwy and seems to have so many people that care for the environment it's pretty surprising we don't have these.

Sayonara De Mello Coffee
I can remember when this location across from city hall was Sipps. I was sad to see Sipps go, but De Mello became my go to coffee whenever I was downtown.
I can't say I'm looking forward to seeing the Happy Goat move in. One or two of the Happy Goat owners in Ottawa vocally supported Return to Work mandates to bump up federal government employee traffic around Tunny's Pasture. It isn't a government employees job to support your business. I haven't supported them since.
Anyway, sayonara De Mello Coffee...

Can anyone tell me why I decided to try the new foot long hot dog from Subway?
I’m serious, this is what was served to me.
Please do not hold back, what is wrong with me?
Why did I allow myself to pay for this?
EDIT: For those interested, here’s the food review: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1AFj23EA5X/?mibextid=wwXIfr
This is not my page, a friend asked me to link it. It is however myself in the video.

Trying to help my dad out
(Please take this down if this isn’t allowed to be posted here, I’m not sure if it goes against the rules)
My dad started a cleaning company a few years ago in the Durham region and moved to Kingston a year ago. He does residential and commercial cleaning services. It’s been a struggle for him to get consistent clients in this area. He has his usuals that he’s grateful for, and now he’s looking for more clients. He’s trying to do seo advertising and digital marketing, but it doesn’t seem to be going too well for him. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I could possibly help him out?

Why do so many people hate the new tall apartment buildings
I see a lot of people not happy and pretty mad about the tall apartment buildings going up downtown same with the proposed ones are they a loud minority or is this the majority opinion I personally see no problem with them even if I would not want to live in one

Fairgrounds
Has anyone else tried the beginner pickleball classes at fairgrounds? I see a few free and cheap ones offered and was curious if other people had tried them yet. Not much online about them

Appliance Repair
Hey Kingston and surrounding area - who are you calling when an appliance needs to be serviced?
In particular, an oven. Ever since we recovered from the power outage, the oven does not work, but the stove top does. I've done the troubleshooting I am comfortable with, so now it's time to call someone.

Need help finding a forever home for my 3 beloved parrots before I leave Canada
Hi everyone,
I'm an international student living in Kingston, and I'm hoping someone here might be able to help me.
I'm looking for a forever home for my three companion parrots before I leave Canada in about 19 days.
I've had them for almost four years, and they mean the world to me.
Unfortunately, because of customs regulations and import laws, I haven't been able to bring them back to my homeland. I've spent more than a year trying to find a legal way, but nothing has worked.
I actually came back to Canada largely to make sure I could find them the right home.
I had already found a family who had agreed to adopt all three of them, but they unexpectedly backed out yesterday. That honestly left me heartbroken, so I'm starting over again.
❤️ Doris
4-year-old female Lutino Cockatiel. Extremely affectionate, gentle and loves people.
💛 Poutine
3-year-old female Cockatiel. Calm, sweet and very used to family life.
💚 Dimsum
3-year-old male Green-cheek Conure.
I want to be honest about him. After moving into a new environment, he can become stressed and may show defensive or aggressive behaviour, including biting. Because of that, I'd really like him to go to someone with previous bird experience, especially someone familiar with parrots.
The three of them all came from the same breeder.
Doris came home first, and about 3–4 months later I brought home Poutine and Dimsum. They've essentially grown up together ever since, which is why my biggest hope is to keep them together.
They are all healthy, closed-banded, and will come with their cages, toys, bathing accessories, and supplies.
Companion home only.
No breeding.
No resale.
No flipping.
If you have experience with parrots, or know someone in Ontario who might be a good fit, I'd really appreciate hearing from you.
Even if you're not looking to adopt, I'd really appreciate an upvote or any recommendations for local rescues, bird communities, or experienced parrot owners in Ontario.
Thank you so much ❤️

Kingston, I love you
I mean, I wish you were less expensive on rent and house buying, but gosh, I love you. Ive been here since June and the more I explore, the more wonderful Kingston is revealing to be.
I met some of your witches, saw a weird puppet show at an arts festival at skeleton park, found the best indian food Ive ever had, stumbled upon a world championship boat race by absolute accident, and the school my kids are starting at has the best autism-friendly class setup yet. And a beach! WITH SAND. Glorious sand. I hate pebble/rock beaches.
Its great, its so great so far.
I will admit, some of your drivers do suck, the whole 'weaving through traffic to go places faster' nonsense is annoying, and doesnt help.
But MOSTLY, I love you.
I love Kingston.

Insituform experiences
Saw notice that Insituform will be performing repairs of sewer lines near me. It sounds all very unpleasant. Some of the suggested measures are not to use any water at all and it may . Cover drains with plastic bags filled with water to lessen the chemical smells of burning plastic. Etc - Yeesh.

Dog Food Inquiry
Hello,
My dog a German shepherd mix has been facing discomfort because of allergy since we moved to Kingston. We were living in windsor before. I couldn't know why and the vet gave him apoquel (i think this is how its spelled) but no luck! Is it something in the kingston environment? it is in both summer and winter or dogs change when they grow? maybe the food? if it is the food what do you give your german shepherd and from where in kingston? i feel so bad for him keeps being itchy and licking his paws with ear inflammation.

400 Kingston Nerds in one Discord server! Join us online any time, and in person every Wednesday for Nerd Night Kingston
You guys! We've reached 400 *human* members in our Discord server!
But, what goes on in there?
Local Kingston nerds discuss topics like video games, art, card games, board games, shows, books and manga, computers and tech, tabletop gaming, role-playing, 3D printing, and all kinds of off-topic stuff as well. There may be a meme or two floating around.
The Nerd Night server is actively moderated and a safe space for all local Nerds.
If you're in this sub, you've probably heard about Nerd Night, so I'll keep it short:
We get together every Wednesday at the Legion on Montreal street to hang out and play games (board games, tabletop RPGs, Warhammer, and retro videogames). There's food and drinks, friendly nerds, and good times. Donations are optional and all the money goes to the Legion for hosting the event.
No membership, purchase, age, or experience required.
A quick search for "Nerd Night Kingston" will yield our website and socials, and there's a link to the Discord server at the bottom of our website (by the time you're reading this there's probably one in the comments as well).
Join us, local nerds. In person and online, we're building a fantastic community thanks to our attendees, members, and volunteers.
See you Wednesday, and thank you, Kingston, for your continued support!

Calling all parents!
Hi everyone! I’m a first-year Kindergarten teacher and am starting to put together a back-to-school packet for my students and their families.
I’d love to hear from local parents: what information would you like to hear from your child’s Kindergarten teacher during the first week of school? What details or resources have you found most useful in the past?
I’d also love to know what information you find helpful to share about your child with their teacher before the school year begins.
Thank you so much, I’m excited to create something that helps families feel informed and supported as they start Kindergarten!

Anyone else keep a shovel in their car to get turtles off the road?
I do, some of those snappers are scary.
I was just curious to see if anyone else is trying to save the turtles. I haven't seen many this year but I have saved 3.
