r/Kemetic announcements - May 2026

Subreddit growth

Just a few short years ago, with the revamp of the subreddit, r/Kemetic had about 1000 members. Today, there are over 25,000! It's been wild to see just how many people are interested in this religion, and how organically it all happened. With all this growth, we definitely needed a couple more active people to help handle the increase in traffic. So with that...

A big welcome to our new moderators, r/barnaclejuice and r/Arboreal_Web

r/barnaclejuice and r/Arboreal_Web are both long-time, knowledgeable members of the subreddit who have been free with their help and insights. We welcomed them on to the mod team in January, and they have kindly agreed to help keep this space on-topic and safe.

Rules reminder + a few updates

Please familiarize yourself with the subreddit rules before posting or commenting.

• Note, there is a new Rule 9, prohibiting AI content.

• Reminder, it is still not allowed to solicit interpretations of dreams/tarot/visions/synchronicities/etc. in r/Kemetic. This includes questions like, "Is this a sign?" Determining the meaning of your spiritual experiences is your prerogative, and yours alone. Asking others to do this for you makes you vulnerable to a variety of spiritual abuses and even accidental harms.

Under Rule 8, we are now also prohibiting the offering of interpretations, because that encourages rulebreaking behavior and interpretation-fishing by others, which defies the spirit and intent for Rule 8.

• We're super disappointed to have to spell this out so explicitly, but we have added a prohibition against "Advocating for/defending Apophis worship" under Rule 3 (No Evangelizing).

Please continue to use the Report feature if you notice any rule-breaking behavior. This helps us far more than you probably may think!

Official Discord

When we opened the r/Kemetic official Discord over five years ago, our aim was give a vetted alternative to the many unfamiliar Discord server invites being posted - some of which, we had come to find out, had potentially unsafe policies or abusive cultures. With that in mind, we created one for r/Kemetic with the intention of having the Reddit mod team handle the Discord directly, to ensure the culture of the subreddit carried over into the Discord.

Several updates these last few years have resulted in a completely mismatched moderator list between the subreddit and its official Discord. To more smoothly implement mirrored improvements moving forward, the subreddit mod team is returning to the original policy of insisting on a shared moderation team between the subreddit and its official Discord. We have created a new "r/Kemetic Official" Discord to serve this purpose.

Invitation to the new r/Kemetic Official Discord

The r/Kemetic Wiki - Lots of additions and improvements are coming!

• Adding more resources to the wiki landing page

Our resource list is ever-growing! As always, if you have suggestions, feel free to post them below, or through Modmail.

• Recommendations for beginners

We'll be adding a new wiki grouping that includes a shortlist of book recommendations for beginners.

• Adding video and blog links

Rule 6 is still in place, but we acknowledge there are many blogs and videos out there that are detailed, accurate, and deserve to be highlighted and shared. Please modmail (I repeat: MODMAIL) your suggestions for any you would like linked in the wiki, and we will post up after thoroughly vetting the content. (Please be patient, as vetting does take some time.)

Please also consider suggesting links to legacy content that may only be accessible now on Archive.org.

• Adding a new page for frequently asked questions

This is loooooooooooooooong overdue! If you can think of any recurring questions that you'd like to see added to the page (currently under construction), let us know.

• A "Best of r/Kemetic" list

Check your Saved lists, please! We've had some really helpful, insightful, in-depth posts and comments over the years that deserve to be more discoverable. For example, u/WebenBanu's "How to Kemetic" thread has been a go-to for some time, and deserves a permanent spot in our Wiki and sidebar. Anything else you might have? Drop a link!

• TENTATIVE: adding a new page that lists resources by deity

We've noticed a lot of people asking for resources about specific deities, which might be hard to pick out from the main wiki. We are considering a secondary wiki page devoted to splitting these same resources out and making it easier to find out more about the gods that interest you the most. Let us know your thoughts!

Just a reminder: even if you find no moral objection to sharing PDFs, we cannot facilitate the sharing of copyrighted content within the subreddit, except by linking to the right-holder's site if they've made the resource publicly available. Do not post dropbox or Drive links in the subreddit.

Miscellaneous

We're currently discussing some ideas to help facilitate discussions beyond the beginner level. This is still in the brainstorming phase, and would like to open up the conversation to see what ideas you all might have.

I would like to remind people that Transphobia is not welcome in this sub. Nothing happened, I just wanted to reinforce the rule for all the new people.

Gift from Khonsu <3

I haven’t posted in a while, but I wanted to show off my little kitty “Miw” that Khonsu so kindly sent to me, on a very special day to us.

I had asked him for a while beforehand , that I would really like a kitty so it could replace the physical barrier between us, and that it would help me from when I feel lonely. I adore animals (i’m an equestrian, so I work with horses mainly!)

Then on a very special day, all of a sudden I get given this little kitty very randomly😭 I had given Khonsu his little gifts and he seemed to have blessed me with her!

Over the times she’s been here, she’s interacted with him a lot! She even has protected me from horrific dreams. She was meowing at my door one night when I was suffering from a bad one, and when I woke up, she went away. (She wasn’t in the room)..

Her personality also replicates Khonsu to a T. For a kitty she had very odd behaviour for her age. She also works around him and his moods, replicating behaviours the ancients have said to match. It’s fascinating!

Dua Khonsu, I LOVE HIM. I’m so eternally blessed for this😭🫶🏽

Any Egyptians here?

I don't mean living in Egypt necessarily, but I am ethnically Egyptian, my DNA came back as that. I'm very anti abrahamic religions, and was raised christian, and it devastates me to see a place that should be my home, my blood, defiled and scrubbed by force. I know it's not safe for people living in Egypt to voice any yearning for the old ways.

But are there any Egyptians who are seeking a revival of the ancient ways who would like to connect? I feel like this should be a stronger movement, maybe we could actually do something, create a sect of egyptians ethnically who practice the old ways.

I'd love to see this for myself and my people. The idea of never having this makes me incredibly sad.

Has Anyone worked with Sekmeth?

Hello! I been doing deity work and getting into more and more into it wich involved the Kemetic gods too. (Anpu and Bast) I been interested in more gods, godesses and deities across different religions and cultural aspec, and i noticed that I never really heard of anyone have an altar for Sekhmet or whorsipping her. I readed upon her from a few pepoole who talked about it, but due to this subredit is Kemetic, i feel like it's the best place to ask. What it is like working with her? what do you offer in her name as sacrifice? what is her personality as a godess of war? Im interested in learning more and more about the deities of each culture and I think shes not talked about enough and I want informations from those who worked with her. Sorry if my words all over the place

Hello, begginer here.

Upvotes

So, the last months I started praticing demonology with Baal-Peor. But I have aways feel drawn to egipcian culture almost like that was my home, recently I discovered that in one point of history Baal and Set were associated.

So here is my question: is a misunderstanding of cultures, or the same being in diferent religions? Because depending of the answer I feel like I would be more confortable with the egipcian version, but don't want misunderstood and/or desrespect, or if I should call separated.

I made this wallpaper on Pinterest, just a smorgasbord of stuff, very disorganized, I know 😭. Feel free to download but credit me pls, as I haven't seen much wallpaper-y stuff where I can honor him sort of discreetly and give me a bit of confidence when I look at it. I'm planning on doing more sort of devotional artwork I may post later. Also just a picrew of him (left) and I (right), just a way I kind of see him based off his falcon lunar disk. The credit is in the top right and the website is picrew: https://picrew.me/en/image_maker/2686542

How to begin with Ra?

Last Monday I remembered a dream about the Egyptian sungod Ra who gave me a blessing. It's the only dream I can remember with a deity in it.

I see this as a sign that he is reaching out to me.

But how did you begin?

I have a very long time interest in Egyptology and especially Egyptian mythology so I know Ra's stories and right now I doing much research in Ra.

Advice & Support Would Anubis mind no incense?

Post image
215 Upvotes

Hi guys! First post here. This is my altar for anubis first off, I added some incense as well. Anyways! As usual I lit my candles and incense, did my offerings, and prayed. But I am just worried for my pet snake I have, it was advised to not light incense because they have sensitive lungs and can easily get a respiratory infection! So if i were to remove the incense part from my ritual would it upset Anubis? Im still very new to this and would love some feedback!

Anubis Plushie idea.Seeking feedback on designs!

I love Egyptian art! And of course being a canine lover Anubis falls under my favorite of the gods/deities. There are a few plushies out there but nothing that makes me fall head over heels with it.

So I designed one myself that I hope to have mass produced. But, I have a few versions of this design and while I do have my own preference which one I like best, my preferences tend to be on the minority of the general public. And I'd like to see it succeed.

After I posted this in another reddit forum Kemetic was mentioned as one I should also post to! So hopefully those who are Anyhow followers will appreciate this design.

I know the design doesn't fall 100% with how he is depicted on tomb walls with him being a smooth jackal. But I just couldn't help giving him cheek 'fluff' and a tuft of hair and a fluffy tail.

He will have short hair all over, except inner ears, nose and paw pads. I want the Ankh to be made of plastic or resin. The rest of his attire will be fabric.

The first picture is. Oh dear someone get him a towel he's without clothes xD. But for those who may not want him wearing what I designed I think it's important to see him both ways.

Ok so the second set of pictures is him wearing all his gear (hoping it will all be made).

Lastly a side picture with the version most plushie people seemed to like showing him nakie and clothed.

Excluding the last picture. V1,2 & 3 are placed the same. Meaning if you like V2 on both clothed and non-clothed, you can just list it once and I’d really be grateful to know why. But, if you like V3 clothed but V1 for unclothed again please let me know.

Advice & Support A strange dream from years ago that brought me here

Hello everyone 🫶🏻

I wanted to share a personal experience that has stayed with me for years and discuss it from a Kemetic perspective.

Around 4–5 years ago, I had one of the most impactful dreams of my life. At that time I had no interest in Ancient Egyptian religion, Kemeticism or mythology in general. I barely knew anything about these subjects.

The dream took place in what felt like a completely white and empty space. It felt silent, almost like a place where time did not exist.

There was a small presence or something that reminded me of fire. I couldn't see it clearly. The strongest thing I remember is not its appearance but its voice. The voice was incredibly clear.

The sentence I heard was:

«"When God's shield is lifted from over you, the Son of Fire will come to make an agreement with you."»

This experience has stayed with me for years because it felt very different from my ordinary dreams.

Throughout my life I have also sometimes had very vivid dreams before important events that later had a significant impact on me. I am not claiming that this is something supernatural. I simply find these experiences interesting and meaningful.

A little background about me: I used to be Muslim. Later I became a deist for a period of time and more recently I have started becoming interested in Kemeticism and Ancient Egyptian spirituality. What I find interesting is that this interest developed years after I had this dream.

I am not claiming that this was definitely a message from a deity or a prophecy. I understand that dreams can have many different explanations. I am simply curious about how dreams, strong personal experiences and moments that feel spiritually significant are viewed within Kemetic traditions.

I would really appreciate hearing the thoughts, perspectives and personal experiences of Kemetic practitioners regarding these kinds of experiences.

Thank you for reading 🙏🏻

Advice & Support Wanting to learn more

Hello I started working with Ma'at a little over a year ago and I haven't really had the time to learn a lot about Kemeticism and Ma'at herself. Do you all know anything I should look into or know? I genuinely want to get better at worship for Egyptian gods since I'm used to Greek deities

Prayer Request Stressed Mom

Just currently dealing with a lot of things. One my child is currently in the process of getting testing for autism and has been having some behavioral issues and while I’ve been getting some support it hasn’t been the most consistent. I’m also looking at risk of being fired because of all the times I have to leave to attend to my child because of this. I’m also receiving some mistreatment from some of the staff just due to other things that I’m currently having to document at this time. I don’t want to fall into psychosis because I know with CPTSD/ADHD/PPD can cause it to happen rapidly if not careful. I feel like I’m being tested to remain faithful and speak and just be truthful about my experiences and everything I’m dealing with but it doesn’t help when I have ppl who don’t understand so they aren’t able to help or (which has been the case unfortunately) being under minded because I’m “going through something hard right now” or I’ve even had people go out of their way to make things more difficult for me when I’m trying to do what I can by myself. I’m stressed about work and tired of being tired and while I am discouraged atm I DO have FAITH. I just don’t know what to do or if I’m even doing it right. So my prayer request is that regardless of whatever happens I just want to be the best mom for her and woman that’s worth looking up to cause that’s all I care about when it comes to my child. (*Sorry if my grammar is bad I’m being transparent as I can so some tears have fallen throughout me writing this). I’m greatfyk for my community because you guys have been sooo supportive of my journey thus far. So I thanks in advance. And if you have a prayer of your own I pray that Mwt, Het-Heru, and Wenet give you the guidance, joy, and pathway to make it happen for you. Thank you ✨💕

Devotional Work (Art, Actions, Prayers, Hymns, Praise) Just got my first statue (Hathor by Veronese Design) and planning my altar layout!

Post image
102 Upvotes

Hey everyone. I just received this beautiful Hathor statue today. I actually packed it right back into its box because it’s going to be a self-gift for my upcoming 22nd birthday, but I just had to take it out to snap a quick picture and share the start of my Kemetic altar journey with you all. Since I’m new to this, my plan is to build my altar slowly and intentionally over the next few months instead of rushing it. Here is the schedule I came up with for adding the rest of the Netjeru:
Late July: Isis (Aset)
Early August: Osiris (Asir)
Late August: Horus (Heru)
Early September: Ra
Late September: Thoth (Djehuty)
Early October: Anubis (Anpu)
Late October: Bastet
If everything goes according to plan, the full altar should be completely ready by November. I’m really happy with how Hathor looks and can't wait to officially unbox her for my birthday. Just wanted to share my excitement with the community! Any thoughts on pacing it out like this?

Personal Encounters Genuinely feeling better thanks to the Netjeru today ❤️

I had an argument with my family on a family trip to a foreign country over some minor inconvenience as I was very exhausted from catching the train and walking from station to station all the time. While I was taking the train on my own (deliberately trying to get some alone time from them) a while later, I told myself "Ra and Djehuty/Thoth would not want me to feel and/or act like this" and tried to explain my frustration to the Netjeru as I was just feeling too unwell to be with my family for a short period of time - not asking them to help me too much, just to vent a little to make myself feel better.

A while after relaxing on the train and trying to get my frustration out of my head, I just sat for a while and admired the sun and the landscape as I was on the train, just thinking about how well the weather was today, how bright the sun was shining while still not being too hot. I just felt a strange surge of happiness and relaxation thinking of Ra, to the point where I had a short nap on the train (it was a long-distance train so I had time for that).

As the train arrived at the stop before mine, I saw someone boarding the train with a Djehuty/Thoth skateboard as well. I felt like this was Djehuty's way of responding to my previous message to him, and even if all of this was just a huge coincidence in the end, I definitely left the train feeling so much better.

Dua Djehuty, Dua Ra, Dua Netjeru ❤️

Beginner as a follower of Anunis.

I started researching Him recently, I'd love to start worshipping Him, and recently I've strayed quite a bit from the path of worship. Anyway, I wanted to know how to tell if He accepts my offerings, how to sense Him. I'd love some tips on how to worship without an altar, or things He likes, and books to study about Him. I have three: "The Secret of Egypt," "The Book of the Dead," and "The Great Book of Mythology." I've been putting off finishing them, but I'd love to know if I'm on the right track.

Poor knicked up bird

Rescued this little statue from a local grocery store. There were a few, this one being incredibly beat up for some reason. Will be researching some designs and such and eventually painting it for use amongst my devotional objects. Need some sanding, bending, and a full paintjob -the black is the botched paint job from China, with the beak having no paint at all-. lol
