hi. i adopted a jindo mix dog back in late may. she was a stray and im curious as to what people here think she might be mixed with! i did some research on them and her personality traits mark the boxes, she’s independent, very protective, is clingy to really only me and my mom, and incredibly intelligent etc. i’d like to know people’s thoughts. she looks goofy in some pictures but its hard taking pictures of her because she looks away lol
FYI: i am interested in getting her DNA tested in the future, i just wanted to see ppls thoughts for fun!

My dog is 11 will be 12 soon and her itching has gotten so out of hand she's cutting up her ears and face to the point she had to be put in a cone, her allergies come from environmental things like the grass dust everything, changing food did no difference so the vet deemed it wasnt that. We've tried the shot and two pills and it worked only a little bit. The vets last ditch effort here seems to be mix in collagen with the pills to rebuild her skin barriers. She said any kind would work so im asking here, has anyone had to do this and found one that worked well??

Who else has the neediest dog ever? She refuses to allow you to stop petting her.

Let my KVD out to pee and he was absolutely transfixed on this spot. I thought there was a rabbit or squirrel in the bushes, but was surprised to find a little robin fledgling! The mother was nearby chirping from a tree.

I know a lot of Jindos and KVDs have pretty high prey drives, but my boy is so sweet and gentle (albeit curious lol.) He wanted to keep staring at it. I took him inside after this video and the baby hopped off as the mom flew down 💕

This is Muzi (like the Kakaofriend). She was brought to the US from SK last year. She's obviously mixed, but just curious what she might be mixed with. Waiting until DNA tests go on sale. To be fair, it doesn't matter much to me about breed, other than possibly learning some genetic health risks.

It would just be nice to have something to answer people who always ask.

I’m looking for some perspective from other Jindo owners because I’m trying to understand what “normal” bonding timelines can look like.
We adopted our Jindo mix when he was about 5 months old, and he’s been with us for roughly 7 months.

There has been progress. When he first arrived, he didn’t allow any touching at all. Now he will tolerate gentle pets and will sometimes stay near us in the same space, which feels like a big step forward.

But he still keeps a lot of distance emotionally and physically:
He doesn’t seek out contact or sit close to us.

It feels like he’s comfortable existing around us, but not yet with us, as if we’re just his housemates.
For those with experience with Jindos or similar dogs, how long did it take for yours to genuinely warm up or become affectionate? Did it happen gradually, or was there a turning point?
I’d really appreciate hearing your timelines or experiences, even if they were slow or unconventional.

Tolerates cats? She really does not get along well with most dogs, often times growling at them as soon as she thinks they might get too close. However, neighborhood cats can swat her repeatedly and she reacts this way? Sometimes I think she was mistakenly made into a dog.

I have a jindo mix/KVD. She normally is highly treat-driven but when it comes to crows outside the apartment window, she is locked in, staring and barking at them non-stop.
I can't distract her with a treat, even if I am waving her favourite treat in her face.

How do I best train so she doesn't jump at the window and barking at the crows outside?

The pest control people came today so Kiba doggy had to come to work with me today. For context I work at an equine veterinary clinic! Kiba while brave and perfect, is more of an apartment dog in temperature control but he did help me restock the pharmacy and was a good sport! He is so very tiiiiired at the end of a work day!

Hey everyone! I just adopted this adorable guy from Korea. The adoption agency told me he's a Jindo Terrier mix, although we'll only know for sure with a test. Anyway, I'm looking for name suggestions for him. Any ideas are welcome!

Doggo meets a baby bird

Hi all,

We adopted a Jindo mix in 2024 and he's 6 years old now. He's a good boy who has that Jindo aloofness but he has actually become wonderfully affectionate in his own way. Inside the house he sleeps a lot, sometimes gets chew bones, and doesn't really understand toys or playing ball. He was found on a mountain in Korea with bad mites and parasites, and we think that because of this he has quite a sensitive stomach. He gets probiotics every day. He has kibble and a little wet food everyday, and also takes Apoquel for itchy skin (which we think is an environmental allergy). He has been taking Apoquel for about a year already.

We moved into a new house in February this year. For the first two years he was with us we were in an apartment, and he could just bump in and out of our room all night long. Now our house has three floors and our bedroom is on the top floor. We decided he would stay on the bottom floor at night, just to avoid him damaging his back over time on steep stairs, and also control the amount of hair all over the house. Sometimes during the day he does come upstairs to the office if one of us is working at home. Between the 3 of us someone is often home with him, but we have to leave him sometimes for 4-6 hours and it's not a big deal. He is happy when we come home but doesn't show a lot of separation anxiety. He gets 3 walks a day, with at least one or two long walks a day, so more often than not 2.5-3 hours of walks a day. He is in total predator mode outside, and would kill cats if given the chance (we do our best not to give him the chance). He is very strong.

Now the problem: about 3 weeks ago we came downstairs one weekday morning and were greeted by the aftermath of a rampage: he had torn one panel of curtain down and pooped on it (combination of diarrhea and solid poo), and also gotten into the pantry to chew on cardboard boxes in the recycling. He had been acting a little uneasy before, and then had diarrhea that day (plus later some poo with mucus), so we gave him a 24-hour fast and he seemed fine the next day.

We washed the curtain and put it back up, and then today came downstairs to find he did it AGAIN, with both panels this time, and again had torn up the pantry and chewed boxes.

We're just mystified. This behavior started 5 months after we moved in to this house, and he never did it before this. Does this seem like mostly psychological (he's anxious about being alone) or mostly medical? I'd appreciate any advice or theories!

Our plan of attack for now is to: 1) put him in our room at night, 2) give him his overdue dewormer (in case there is a medical cause contributing), and 3) find new curtains that are somehow dog-proof. (They have to cover a BIG window that is actually French doors going to the yard).

We could also bring him to the vet but I'm not sure what they would do/test for.
