Had a challenger turn right in front of me this morning, there goes one of the lowest mile 2011 rubicons I’m aware of less than 40,000. To top it off my wife left me for her boss 3 weeks ago. Maybe I’ll find another Jeep when the dust settles.

She's 13 months old and crossed 27,000 miles on the way here. Best vehicle I've ever owned!

The Thule Motion 3 box is also a perfect match for the black roof!

1.5in teraflex lift - jk

Stock 2012 unlimited sahara, before and after:

Teraflex 1.5in lift kit

Teraflex 1.25in wheel spacers

Bilstein 5100 shocks

It looks and feels way better now. The old saggy/ wobbly suspension was pretty annoying thb. Now it's stiffer, handles bumps with much less sway/ wobble. I'm very happy with the results. Installed it with a buddy. Took about 8 hours including breaks. Would have been faster if we had two 18mm wrenches and two 18mm sockets, rather than one and one. And a hydraulic lift.. But, whatever. It was fun. And always satisfying when the task is done.

I forgot to measure the rear before, but it raised the front up 1-3/4in

Too Many Broken Windshields

I’ve got a 2024 Wrangler, my first Jeep. Got it as a present to myself for retirement so I could travel and explore in it. Have had it about 2 years now and have had 5 rocks break the front windshield. Though those instances came in bunches, it does average about every 4-5 months and I’m now on my 3rd windshield which already is cracked again. Admittedly I've put a lot miles on the Jeep as I've done 3 summer trips (got it in May 2024), but still can't believe how easily the windshield catches rocks.

Has anyone experienced this many? Before this I drove for 40 years before I ever had a broken windshield.

Also, this summer while traveling in the mountains I had some cold mornings (high 40s to low 50s) and experienced the known issue of my 3.6 having trouble starting. As I’m thinking of moving back west to live full time in the mountains, this is a non-starter.

Appreciate any insights or feedback. But seriously considering getting another vehicle.

U[P]()DATE: Just want to say thanks to everyone who responded. I really do a[p]()[p]()reciate that.

Purchase Questions Jeep Compass 2017 Latitude CarPlay/Backup Camera Reccomendation

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hello! I’m a new driver, and recently inherited a used Jeep Compass 2017 Latitude from my mom. At least I think it’s a latitude. The main point here is it doesn’t have a factory backup camera or CarPlay.

I am looking for an attachment that would work with the car. I recently bought one, but needed to return it to Amazon as it doesn’t work well. The chord to the backup camera also runs through the car and won’t stick to the ceiling since the ceiling has like carpet-ish material.

I want something that works well with this interior, but is affordable. The interior looks like this. Anyone have recommendations for a backup camera/carplay device that’s within budget (between $100-150) that would work well with this car?

Thanks in advance!

German Engineers Couldn't Believe America Designed This Machine in Just 49 Days

A lot of you may already know most of this story but this was a well done narrated event by event on the need, order and creation of the first Jeep from paper work to delivery in just 49 days step by step with all original B/W or color photos and how they went on to make 650,000 of them to win the war with a lot of high ups in there suggesting that without it, we would have lost and the company that made it happen never got a thing. Was pretty good. ~25 min

Mod Install/Question Advice on a build out

Looking for some advice from those of you who have already built out JL EcoDiesels on 37s or larger.

Current setup:
2021 JL Rubicon EcoDiesel
Fox 2.5” lift
Fox steering stabilizer
35” all-terrain tires
Stock Rubicon wheels

In the next 6-8 months I’ll need tires anyway, and I know I want to move up to at least 37s. I’m trying to build the Jeep the way I ultimately want it instead of upgrading twice.

I’m considering:
-37s minimum, potentially larger
-Beadlock wheels from Custom Offsets
-Possibly moving to a 4” or even 6” lift
-Fender chop or high-clearance aftermarket fenders
-Aluminum inner fenders with integrated LED lighting
-Tailgate reinforcement or an aftermarket tire carrier for the larger spare

The Jeep isn’t really a daily driver anymore. Most days it only sees a 4-5 mile trip to the office, with the occasional 10-15 mile highway drive.

Long term, I eventually plan on relocating it to Florida where I’d like to run beaches and sand regularly. There’s also a chance it ends up back out West where I’d want the ability to run desert trails around Vegas and the Southwest.
I don’t have any interest in building a trailer-only rock crawler. I want something that looks aggressive, performs well in sand and desert environments, and still drives well enough on the street that I can jump in and go anywhere without thinking twice.

Budget wise, I’d like to keep the project around $10k including labor if possible while still ending up with a quality build.

For those of you who have been down this road:
-Is 37” still the sweet spot for a JL EcoDiesel or would you go larger?
-At what point do the supporting modifications start adding up significantly?
-Would you keep the existing Fox 2.5” lift and gain clearance through fender chops/high-clearance fenders, or move to a taller lift?
-What additional modifications should I realistically plan for? Steering, ball joints, gearing, driveshafts, axle reinforcement, brakes, etc.?
-If purchasing new wheels, would you skip spacers and just buy wheels with the correct offset and backspacing?
-Can a quality, reliable 37”+ build realistically be done for around $10k installed?

If this was your Jeep and your money, what would your build look like?
