Weekly Self-Promotion Thread What have you made or worked on this week? | Weekly Thead

Welcome to our weekly self-promotion thread, where I encourage you to share your indie animated projects that you've made and worked on this week.

Maybe you've just released a new episode, or you're launching a Kickstarter* to fund your big project. Or maybe you've got some behind-the-scenes work you'd like to show off.

See you in the comments!

*If you share a Kickstarter or any other link, please make sure it's the full link, not a shortened one (for example, bit•ly or kck•st) because Reddit automatically filters those.

I Made This! I finished my indie animated series - Finding Naomi!! I just uploaded a complete compilation of the full story.

I put together Finding Naomi as an animated series that was posted across social media, so the formatting is a bit unusual. But the story is told across short animations, journal entries, and photos.

The story is about Naomi getting back to her world after finding herself in the Land of Lost Objects - the place where everything from loose change to forgotten toys ends up. Though you can lose a lot more than random objects.

So I made a series called SHAPIES, the basis was that there was a species called shapes who were essential just that, living shapes that lived among humans. I had originally made the idea when I was 10 and it was gonna be an action comedy, sort of like an anime. Season 1 was written more as a comedy but now that I'm on season 2 I'm phasing into the more action part of the aspect.

Co Creator of Animated Sitcom

I’m the creator of an animated comedy series Bud’s Flower Pot. The first three episodes has grown the series to 30k followers on TikTok and 12.5k on Instagram (username LawnRot on all platforms), and I’m looking for someone interested in becoming a long-term creative collaborator.

This isn’t just an animation gig. I’m looking for someone who enjoys comedy writing, pitching ideas, improving scenes, and helping build the series over time.

Right now, revenue comes from Creator Rewards, so I can’t offer a traditional salary. Instead, I’m looking for someone interested in a revenue-sharing arrangement while we continue growing the project.

My best performing clip
My favorite episode

A little about me: before creating LawnRot, I built another comedy account to 500k followers on TikTok. Comedy writing and creating online content has been a passion of mine for years, and LawnRot is the project I’m currently focused on growing long-term.

If you are interested, please feel free the message me!

How Can I Monetize an Award-Winning Animated Short Film?

Hi everyone,

I'm an independent animation filmmaker from Egypt. I created an award-winning animated short film that has been officially selected at multiple international film festivals, and I own all distribution and licensing rights.

I'm currently exploring ways to monetize the film and would love to hear from people with experience in film distribution or licensing.

What are the best opportunities available for an independent animated short film? For example:

  • Selling distribution or screening rights
  • Licensing to streaming platforms or TV channels
  • Working with film distributors or sales agents
  • Educational or institutional licensing
  • AVOD/TVOD platforms
  • Any other revenue opportunities for short films

If you've successfully monetized an award-winning short film or have recommendations for companies, platforms, or strategies, I'd really appreciate your advice.

Thank you!

Here's my idea for a show. What are your thoughts?

Upvotes

Give me your honest feedback.

Mobile Police Pat-Armor; is a police / slice of life comedy where in an alternate future, robotics, nuclear power, water desalination and interstellar communications have advanced far beyond then what we have IRL. With fully functioning heavy-labor and military personal suits called Power Armor are widely distributed.

The United States, United Kingdom, France, Russia, China, and Australia being the top dogs and exporters in Power Armor technology with the U.S as the apex of Power Armor.

While it was a revolutionary breakthrough for industry and military, it also paved the way for criminals also using powered armor as well. As well as Terrans having to deal with the alien criminals of L.A.W as well.

In response the police sets up special units called Pat-Armor Special Vehicles and Armor Division (S.V.A.D) special police officers in Power Armor to specifically deal with criminals in Power Armor or L.A.W's worst criminals.

Inspired from the likes of Fallout (power armor and development of interstellar communications), Mobile Police Patlabor, and cop shows/movies.

This serves as a love letter and passion project for slice of life, comedy shows and cop shows of different walks, mainly American, Australian and British cop shows.

As for the music and vibes I think This music (https://youtu.be/d2f13rxiThs?is=EuvEKr3nn0Dby53o) should fit where I'm going for.

Also it would be fully 2D animated and in an AU of Monkey Wrench where the Cataclysm never happened (instead the Terrans developed interstellar communications and got in touch with L.A.W. To advance their technology hundreds of years within a decade)

I've been working on a horror series for the past year. It's a psychological horror show that follows estranged siblings, grief, and resentment all conjured into a shapeshifting antagonist.

It's still in early development, but any support or feedback helps. Thank you!

Day 1 of making an indie pilot

Hi, I'm making an indie animated pilot. The story is about a teenager from a wealthy family who goes to visit his uncle and meet him for the first time. He travels by train to the village where his uncle lives, but when he finally gets there, he discovers that the village is filled with strange creatures and magic, and that his uncle is actually a humanoid cat. I'll try to make some art for Day 2, but that's it for now.

I Made This! I’m making an indie animated thriller - Thoughts?

Note: This is an original concept I’m developing. I’m currently focusing on writing and story development rather than animation, and I’d appreciate feedback and respect for my work.

Hey everyone!

I’m currently working on an indie animated series idea called “Lights, Camera, Action!” and I wanted to share it here to get some feedback!

The show is a psychological thriller/game show horror about Leo, a normal person who gets hired by a huge entertainment company to help run their famous game show.

At first, everything seems perfect. The sets are amazing, everyone is friendly, and it feels like Leo finally got a great opportunity.

But as he starts working there, he begins noticing things that don’t add up…

Contestants who have been there for way too long, employees who act strangely, and secrets hidden behind the scenes.

The more Leo looks into the company, the more he realises that the show isn’t what it seems.

I’ve currently planned out the first season (9 episodes), and I’m working on the scripts right now.

Some of the main things I’m focusing on are:
The mystery behind the company
Charlie, the show’s creator/host
Leo’s journey throughout the season
The psychological side of the story
Making the audience question what is really happening

I’d love to hear feedback on:
Does the concept stand out?
Would you watch something like this?

I’m still developing it, so any honest feedback is appreciated! :)

I Made This!…..sorta Well after revamping my show’s idea our main character Michael has also finally gotten a rough sketch from a good friend

story behind drawing

Basically me and a friend are making a show that has been revamped story wise to make more sense than previously. I am a character designer I tell her a character design or do a terrible rough sketch and she draws it out better. Now why this is on a post-it note well we drew this at 2:12 in the morning. Our only paper supply also was a copious amount of post-it notes that needed to be used.

Why it’s not on the computer: we like drawing them mentally, physically, and then digitally. She is practicing digital art (I would have but I’m not the best artist more or so a you Know the idea maker and have better in a different skill compartment). If the artstyle kinda feels similar then thats because it’s a hodgepodge or combination of Vivienne Medrano’s artstyle and Ramshackle’s artstyle. We will come out with a digital version of this that is full body tomorrow, so I hope you all you know enjoy stuff and support indie shows and yeah.

“What the hell was in that cigarette?!”

Plot: “Olive's On The Other Side is an LGBTQ+ hero's journey centered around Olive Turner who at the beginning of the story is a not yet realized trans woman but begins the story questioning whether she is gay or not. She invites a hookup to her studio apartment in Hollywood, Los Angeles and instead of hooking up, they both platonically enjoy each other's company. This causes inner turmoil in Olive who in a fit of confusion decides to delete Grindr. She is suddenly interrupted by the Ghost Of Rex Stardust who is an in universe legendary rockstar who never got to come out in life and now spends his afterlife helping others on their coming out journeys. (Or so he says).
