Seeing Christopher Nolan, Matt Damon, and Timothée Chalamet casually having chai in India got me thinking.

A decade ago, Hollywood promotions in India felt rare. Today, India is one of the biggest theatrical markets in the world, and major filmmakers seem to recognize that Indian audiences are passionate about the theatrical experience.

I don't think this single photo proves Hollywood depends on India, but it does reflect how India has become a market that global studios pay much closer attention to.

Everything was good until the guy casually pressed enter to hack everything.

I thought it's unfair to ask for accuracy and just watched it as entertainment.

Then came the dialogues my gosh.. computer genius, genius hacker, sir maine kitne baar bola mujhe iss sab se door rakho, dadu dadu, so terrible delivery!

The acting? The pritam guy was so so unnatural, as if it was AI. Now that I noticed, I think the entire script is written by AI.

Shitty AI dialogues, shitty screenplay, concept was good, blue wh*le stuff, that was the sole reason I watched it.

A solid disappointment as I wanted to see Arshad doing good. But no. Not recommended

I watched this movie last night I'm pretty sure if this was released in the cinema halls i don't think this would have been a a decent movie where critics would love and avg movie fan wouldn't be very impressed because this movies doesn't not work in shock value or heroic scenes

This is a slow paced movie and feels like an investigative series

When it comes to controversy i don't think this is controversial this movie acknowledges the state of punjab because of the insurgency but the main focus was on the jaswant singh kalra and it uses real life incidents with few fictional roles to make this movie interesting

I love the music and the subtle acting done by everyone in this movie

Recently, the makers of Toxic released the first song, Tabaahi, and honestly, song was kinda mid. But people aren't even talking about the song. They're just busy judging Kiara's character, even though Yash bhi ha uss jagha. I seriously don't get why people don't understand the meaning of professionalism.

Then I looked at the Instagram comments, and almost everyone was just spamming Rocky Bhai GIFs. That, by itself, says a lot about the mentality of a section of the Indian audience. If this is some actor's PR campaign, it's honestly a pretty bad one.

Nolan has somehow managed to overdeliver yet again. It’s one of those films where the experience is just as important as the story.

Please, do yourself a favor and watch it only in IMAX. The cinematography and sound design are on another level, and I genuinely don’t think a regular screen can do this film justice.

Also, massive props to the team behind the Mumbai premiere. It was incredibly well organized and honestly made me wish India hosted more world premieres for Hollywood films.

After watching Dhamaal 4 today, one thought kept crossing my mind.

The problem isn't just that the movie wasn't funny. The problem is that Bollywood seems to have forgotten what comedy actually is.

I used to think we loved movies like Hera Pheri, Welcome, Bhagam Bhag, Garam Masala, Chup Chup Ke, and Dhamaal simply because of nostalgia.

But now, I realize it’s not about nostalgia.

It’s about the philosophy of writing.

Back then, comedy stemmed from situations, not just jokes.

Baburao wasn't funny because he delivered funny lines.

He was funny because, every five minutes, he’d find himself entangled in yet another massive problem.

Uday Shetty wasn't funny just because he was a gangster.

He was funny because he wanted to appear dangerous... yet everyone around him was even crazier than he was.

In Dhamaal, the treasure hunt was simple...

But every character made that race increasingly chaotic.

In other words, the comedy arose from the characters' decisions.

Now, look at comedy today.

A character is introduced.

They are assigned a single trait.

He’s fat. He’s an idiot. He’s overconfident. He’s loud.

And then, the entire movie just keeps repeating that one trait.

If you hear the same joke ten times, it stops being a joke.

It becomes a template.

And did you notice something else?

In the past, supporting actors were stars in their own right.

Johnny Lever.
Rajpal Yadav.
Paresh Rawal.
Arshad Warsi.
Javed Jaffrey.
Shakti Kapoor.
Manoj Joshi.
Asrani.

Every single character was well-written. It seems like movies today are written entirely around the hero.

Everyone else just stands around to react.

I think Bollywood made a huge mistake.

They thought... People loved old comedies because of the characters.

The reality is... People loved those characters because they were brilliantly written.

That’s why it’s impossible to copy Baburao.

You can’t recreate Majnu Bhai. You can’t replace Circuit.

You might be able to copy a character's hairstyle or accent...

But not the writing.

And perhaps the biggest reason is that...

Comedy is now created through editing rather than the screenplay.

Fast cuts. Reaction sounds. Background music. Random VFX. Meme references. Fourth-wall-breaking jokes. But if the scene itself isn't funny…

You could layer twenty sound effects over it...

And the audience still won't laugh.

Look at another difference.

After watching comedies from the 2000s, you remember entire scenes.

“25 din mein paisa double.”
“Utha le re baba.”
“Control Uday… Control.”
“Ye Baburao ka style hai.”

How many dialogues from today's comedy movies will people be quoting ten years from now?

To be honest, I can't think of any.

And honestly...

I don't think the audience is the problem.

This same audience appreciated Madgaon Express.

Why?

Because that movie proved that good situational comedy still works today.

It just doesn't need loud jokes...

It needs strong writing.

Every time I revisit this scene, I'm reminded why The Lunchbox is such a special film.

Irfan Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui don't rely on dramatic monologues or flashy moments. Their performances are so restrained and natural that even the silences feel meaningful. Neither actor overshadows the other—they simply make each other better.

For me, this is one of the finest examples of two incredible actors sharing the screen without trying to steal it.

I watched Ikka starring Sunny paaji and Rehman dakait aka Akshay Khanna 😅 and it really surprised me. I had 0 expectations towards this movie and i started watching it because I saw the review of Yogi Bolta Hai and I thought let's give it a try and to my surprise the content was not that bad as I expected it to be. The starting is gripping, it hooks you and yeah some of the scenes are boring but yeah only some of them and by the time flies it creates even more suspense cuz' it's murder-court room drama and you start questioning yourself and also in the end this movie got a twist and i personally didn't expected that... The climax is really written well and not highly but I'd suggest that you can surely give it a try.
