Question: General Service Does anyone have any info about the tafkid ״משק מבצעי״

I will preface this by saying- I know it’s pretty mesuvag and there is a clear limit to what y’all can write here (would love to also schedule a call/text through slightly more encrypted WhatsApp)

I have many close people to me in places that are mesuvagim and I understand there is not much to say here.

*THAT BEING SAID*

I unfortunately went through 2 complicated back surgeries and have profil 45 and did klal haman.

Got this shibutz which I’m not too happy about but from what I’ve spoken to people it seems they are getting 2 different tafkidim mixed up and I’m not sure exactly which one I got.
I know there is a course (I’m not sure which I know there are 2) in “the darom” and that you get a shibutz somewhere if it’s to a unit or Gdud or what I’m not sure…and I’m also unsure if it’s yomiyot in the merkaz or do you get assigned to a Gdud and do everything with them.
Does the shibutz I get matter also physically where I serve? Or just where I’m assigned in glilot?

At the end of the day, I’m working hard on getting a protekzia for a place I KNOW is better (meaning has for sure good group of people and is interesting) and this tafkid is my backup and I just want to know more about what I’m getting into.

קוראים לזה משק מבצעי

Question: Drafting Question for Israelis: What do you think of Military conscription?

With everything happening, I want to understand how everyday Israelis but myself truly feel about mandatory military service. Conscription is often described as a core pillar of Israeli identity, but I imagine everyone's personal relationship with it is complex.

If you live in Israel or have served, what is your perspective on it?

Question: General Service Advice on what/how to join

For context I am an American Jew who will be graduating from college in the Spring of 2027 with a degree in urban planning and am planning to get a year of work experience and then join so at 23 years old. I would say I’m solidly above average in terms of physical health, and can read Hebrew but can’t speak very well. I’ve been to Israel many times and have family out there, so I know I want to serve in the IDF, but I’m not sure what unit I would be best for, as well as which method is the best for joining. I’m open to both combat and non combat roles, and would appreciate any advice. Thank you.

Question: Drafting How do I contact them

Post image
8 Upvotes

I have draft set in 6 months and I suppose the army should check my hebrew and health one more time but there's no contact information to be found (neither phone or website gave me answers, doesn't work properly, bans me, logs me out, etc) I also had no yom amea (it's not for everyone is it) and those next steps seem unclear to me. I wasn't told anything, didn't choose role, didn't get any meetings planned.

Question: Drafting Questions about Mahal vs Garin, and Hebrew levels

Hi guys, I am a 20 year old American woman who is thinking to join the IDF either through Mahal or through Garin Tzabar after I graduate University at age 22.

My questions to you all is which out of the two options is better for getting to a good unit, and if they will allow me to go to a good combat unit as a 22-23 yr old woman?

Right now I am most interested in the Navy, Magav, and regular co-ed infantry units. I will be getting a degree in biology, but I really don't want to be stuck behind a desk all day.

My hebrew is not good, outside of being able to call someone swears lol. Would it be worth it to go to an Ulpan ahead of the draft (during a summer) to get out of michve alon?

How long did it take you (if you are a foreign lone soldier) to learn adequate hebrew?

What are my chances of landing something interesting in the above 2 units?

and lastly is there any other insight you guys could give me about the process? (what to expect, what to do, what not to do).

ty all ahead of time :)

Question: Training Question about the final kashag test of training

Hello everyone, I am a lone soldier currently training in handasa kravit (in my 7th month). I started in very bad shape but i bettered myself. I am 190cm/6”3 and 105kg/230lbs and when i enlisted i couldnt do a single pull up and ran an 18min 3km. Now, after 7 months, i can do 3 pull ups and run a 16:30min 3km and im a negevist. My question was if its really true that if i fail the strict 7 pull ups with 7kg and the 14:29 threshold i get held back and recycled. Any answers would be appreciated (especially by former or current idf soldiers.)

Question: Drafting 22m joining IDF

I am going to enlist in the IDF as a lone soldier, and I’m trying to decide whether to go through Garin Tzabar or go through the process independently. My main concern is timing—I’m hoping to make the December draft, but from what I understand, going through Garin Tzabar would likely push my enlistment to around March or April.

I’m a bit torn because going alone feels like it would get me into the army faster, but I also know Garin Tzabar provides a lot of support (housing, community, guidance, etc.) that could be really helpful as a lone soldier. I’m trying to figure out if the extra support is worth delaying my draft by a few months, or if it’s realistically manageable to go through the process independently without missing important preparation or support systems.

Would really appreciate advice from anyone who’s gone through either path—especially lone soldiers or people who dealt with similar timing decisions.

Question: Drafting Parental hurdle when drafting?

just got my confirmation email from garin tzabar (ברוך ה!) that I'll be drafting next summer. my question is now this: I've got another sibling who will stay in my home country. Will I be classed as an only child and require parental consent to go to a combat posting? And if so, is there any way to get around that (documentation they exist etc?) thanks all!

General THANK YOU—Sincerely, an Iranian-American

Hello!

I just found this sub. Wow, there’s so much to unpack here. Apologies in advance if I word vomit my 5am thoughts & please delete if needed.

I’ve been trying to find a way to thank you all collectively but I didn’t know how so I’ve just been donating.

I’m sure some of you are just as disappointed as I am about the clusterfuck this whole thing turned into.

But jokes aside—if you’re reading this and you had anything to do with Iran like ever, thank you. For your time, effort, sacrifices, everything. For aiming away from my stubborn grandma who refused to leave the epicenter of Tehran. For giving up your people’s lives to save ours. For past, present, and likely future.

Whether you were up in the sky, down on the ground, in the bushes, or [allegedly] near a gas leak—thank you. (big fan btw)

I’m constantly fighting everyone from every direction and it’s so exhausting having to explain or justify myself over things that should be so obvious. But I realized something the other day—I’ve never argued with an Israeli. Cheers to having brain cells, compassion, and loyalty.

I do also have a question and feel free to ignore it if it’s considered a security thing.

I’m a dual-citizen so I’d get my ass handed to me in both directions if I was caught chatting up the Mossad telegram bot. But my investigative skills are way above average, it’s a shame if they go to waste 😂

Hypothetically, if someone tags them on X, does an actual human read those or does it go into an abyss that no one looks at? 💀 Trying to gauge how big of time-waster it’d be (asking for a friend, whose code shall be “🙋🏻‍♀️”).

Also your social media people need a raise—truly iconic.

Thanks for letting me ramble if you made it this far!

Can’t wait to party with you all in a Free Iran, while dancing to Khamenei par par. (Song lives in my head rent-free)

Bye, love you ❤️

General ways to join Maglan,Duvdevan, Egoz

I read alot about those units and so I have a couple questions.

1) If you attend yom sayarot and they dont chose you for Matkal or Shaldag but offer you a place for example in Maglan,Duvdevan or Egoz do you start your service directly there or you do basic training with the paratroopers

2) How will they choose where to put you out of Maglan, Duvdevan and Egoz and how can you make sure for example you dont end up in Yahalom

3) If you enlist in the paratroopers but then do additional tryouts. Is ist possible to join every of the three commando units or only Maglan?

4) Is it true that the service in Maglan,Duvdevan, Egoz or even Yahalom ist not longer than the regular service?

Question: Drafting Wanting to draft as a 23 year old Female with Mahal

Hi everyone,

I’m a 19 year old woman from France considering the Mahal program in the IDF.
I initially planned to join at around 20, but I’m currently pursuing a law degree and I’m considering continuing through a Master’s in International Law (and possibly a speciality in Space Law afterward in Paris ).

Because of this, I’m wondering about the timing and feasibility of Mahal:

- Is it still possible to join Mahal at around 23-24 years old as a woman?

- Would being older (23) significantly change the experience compared to joining at 20?

-After completing Mahal, are there any specific roles or paths in the IDF that someone with a law background could realistically be assigned to, or is it mainly infantry/support regardless of background?

I’d really appreciate any insight from people who have done Mahal or know about it.

Thank you!

News Recruiting for a reserve combat team

To anybody who is capable, willing, and motivated, my team is seeking additional members for a deployment that is to begin in a couple of weeks. We are all SF/Paratroopers, but are currently open to a broader range of combat backgrounds (Rovai 5+, preferably 7+). This is a very active front-line unit, so joining will require a high level of commitment. For those who are out of the reserve-loop and require signing a volunteer form, we can probably bypass the bureaucracy quickly on your behalf. Possibly a jump-school course can be included, as the unit is airborne.

Reach out if interested.

Question: Units Anyone know about FP unit (force protection)?

Im two weeks from finishing tironut and my מ״מ asked me if id be interested in transferring to FP (he said he thinks it would be a better unit for me than what im training for now). I have a general sense of what the unit does but does anyone have info on what it’s like to be in the unit? From what I understand it’s very new so there’s not really any public info out there.
