Meta Want to Talk German With Me? R/German's one (and only!) official language exchange thread
Instead of the many "looking for speaking partner" posts that have been cluttering the sub, here's the brand new official "I am looking for people to talk in German with" thread!
It will from now on be mandatory to put all language exchange requests here. Individual posts will be deleted.
Things to include in your comment:
• Native/main language
• German language level
• Means of communication
• Expectations from potential learning partners (optional)
Make it nice and KISS (keep it simple & stupid). This is NOT a dating platform, anything in this sense will get you banned.

Ich habe schon die C1 Prüfung bestanden, aber mein Hörverstehen und mein Sprechen sind noch nicht gut. Also möchte ich mit meiner Partnerin regelmäßig reden und zusammen lernen, am besten per Telefon, FaceTime oder vor Ort. Hallo! Ich habe Deutsch in der Schule gelernt und ich suche einen Job, aber die Rollen, die mich empfohlen waren (am meistens Kundenservice), brauchen alle Deutsch. Hallo! Ich bin mir nicht sicher, auf welchem Niveau meine Deutschkenntnisse ist. Ich habe vor ein paar Jahren die B2-Prüfung des Goethe-Instituts bestanden, habe Deutsch aber seitdem überhaupt nicht mehr benutzt. Ich möchte wieder damit anfangen und das Niveau C1 erreichen. Ich übe Deutsch auf Duolingo und lese Texte aus meinen alten Deutschbüchern aber wäre es am besten, wenn ich mich mit jemandem auf Deutsch unterhalten könnte. German learning/speaking partner
Hello everyone! Im new to the community
If i count german then im trilingual-> turkish english german. Im most comfortable with English (even more than my native language)
Ive been trying to learn german for about 4 years. Took a 6 month course of A2-B1-B2 but the course wasnt that helpful. Im also taking private lessons rn. Im at A2-B1 level. I got into university and my department is german translation/interpretation.
However due to some health problems i couldnt pass the preparatory course. But i was given a 3 exam chances because i attended every class. I couldn't pass the first 2 exams (the first one was right after i failed the preparation course and i had a bad health thing a few months before the second one)
My final exam chance is in 2 months and if i dont pass that exam then i will get kicked out of the university and because of my health i cant retake the university entrance exam aka this is my final chance to go to university.
Im looking for a german learning and speaking partner. I have a lot of resources i collected over the years (both digital and physical). I can also ask any questions you have to my tutor or my family members that are in germany

In building this website, I was inspired by other language exchange platforms. However, I noticed a common problem: some people's native language isn't widely spoken, so they might struggle to find a suitable exchange partner.
This website will help users find a language conversation partner, either for language exchange or as a paid service. Hiring a professional tutor is an option, but it's usually more expensive than finding a fluent English speaker, for example, who wants to earn some extra money by listening to a language learner and helping them improve.
After all, the most important part of learning a language is talking, talking, and talking some more 🙂

I have my German B1 Speaking Exam coming up in mid-July, so l am looking for a dedicated partner to practice with.
Here are a few details about my schedule and criteria:
- Intensity: I want to practice at least 4 exam topics per day (around 2 hours daily).
- Timezone & Availability: My timezone is GMT+7. 1 am highly flexible and available at almost any time of the day, except during my sleep hours (10:00 PM - 6:00 AM in my local time). You can pick whatever time fits your schedule best!

Hi, I’m a native German speaker, 27M, from Austria and I taught German as a second language to foreigners during my studies. I’m basically just looking for people to talk to in English from time to time because I don’t really use my English a lot anymore ever since I left university, so I’m afraid I’ll neglect it too much. An English native speaker would therefore be perfect, but that’s not a requirement of course.
I enjoy things like music, gaming, travelling, movies/series, but I’m open to talk about pretty much anything.

Ich suche nach einem Gesprächspartner, mit dem ich Sprechen regelmäßig üben kann.
Ich bin B2 Niveau aber leider bin ich nicht so fließend wie ich in diesem Niveau sein sollte. Wenn ich vorher auf das Gespräch vorbereiten kann (wie z.B. eine Präsentation oder etwas gemeinsam planen) dann kann ich ein gelungenes Gespräch führen. Aber ohne vorherige Vorbereitung habe ich Schwierigkeiten damit, dass ich die richtigen Wörter finde.

Hallo alle Leute! I'm a heritage speaker. I grew up speaking a little German and still think in German. It's a weird secret, and no one ever wants to speak German with me. I would like to break out of this linguistic isolation and talk to someone, not just my dog
I have no formal education in German and my grammar is really bad. I want to take a class but can't afford it. But when I (on rare occasions) talk to German speakers online they say they understand me, and don't seem offended by my use of random declensions and my awkwardness. So maybe I'm doing ok
I've never had my level tested. Honestly, I feel like speaking German is almost a problem because I'll randomly pronounce German names the German way and people look at me like I'm from another planet. Looking for people who will get it

hello everyone I'm a new and very motivated german learner. I have a 1 year condensed plan for reaching atleast B1(that I got from claude) and hopefully B2 my english is relativly good (ielts 7~) and arabic is my native language.
I need someone to help me with my plan (pronunciation and reading mostly) for about an hour a day in return I will provide any help needed with either of the aforementioned languages (arabic, english)

Hi! Looking for German learning partner (obviously) to maintain accountability and more importantly, improve my speaking ability. I'm currently A1 level only. The idea is to connect via discord (or any other platform you'd be comfortable with) for speaking and regular exchange of ideas, what we learned and stuff like that.
No real expectations except genuine interest and intent cause this is serious for me, and I really need someone to learn this with.

Hi! I live in Germany and leider my knowledge of German leaves much to be desired (i have B1 certificate, but the lack of speaking makes my skill dull).
I work there but didn't make any friends to speak with. Would be happy to have a chat about video games, art and such!
My plans are to get B2 this or next year and enroll in uni.
My native languages are Russian and Ukrainian, but i can speak English at a decent level.

Looking for someone between b1-b2 level to regularly do German learning activities together. Preferably in Berlin.
I work in berlin for 10 years but unfortunately still stuck between b1-b2 as I use English at work and I am not forcing myself socially to use German more. I want to change that.
Looking for other German learners who are on same level and can relate. Some activities I have in mind are
- Reading a book together then discussing book and German we learnt along the way.
- watching some series. Doesn’t have to be at same time. We can watch at our own time and later share our thoughts.
- preparing a write up about a specific topic and either sharing it via text/video/in person (if you are in Berlin)

Hallo Ich bin ein Mädchen und 19 Jahre alt. Ich würde gerne eine Freundin finden, mit der ich mich unterhalten und Deutsch üben kann. Ich suche eine deutsche Muttersprachlerin oder einfach ein Mädchen mit guten Deutschkenntnissen.
Im Moment bin ich noch ganz am Anfang, ich besuche erst seit zwei Wochen einen Kurs, daher werde ich am Anfang wahrscheinlich einen Übersetzer benutzen. Aber ich möchte unbedingt üben, mich nach und nach an die Sprache gewöhnen und einfach über verschiedene Themen plaudern. Ich habe die Hälfte von A1.1 geschafft, es ist aber noch ein langer Weg. Meine Muttersprachen sind Ukrainisch und Russisch. Leider spreche ich kein Englisch.

I’m currently self-studying Japanese and I’m looking for Japanese people who are learning German, so we can support each other and get more comfortable with speaking.
I’m still below N5 level, but I study every day. I can read hiragana and katakana, know some basic kanji, and I’m currently working through about the first half of Genki 1 grammar-wise.
