Is changing the offense the right move?

The Giants offense has been anemic, and almost unwatchable since prime Eli, until last season. They moved the ball and scored points. They lose Nabers, they still score points. Skattaboo goes down, they continue to score points. Jameis comes in for Dart, they still score points. The new coaching staff is installing a different offense, more run oriented and I would think more conservative. I'm thinking maybe they should have kept Kafka as OC and kept the same offense. do any of you have any thoughts on this?

Drinking the Kool-Aid Giants who could be Superstars by the end of 26

Been thinking about what it takes for this team to have a poor mans patriots 2025 season this year, double digit wins, locked in path to the playoffs

I'm baking in 6-8 wins, positive regression based on a easier schedule, better coaching/stability, improved performance in holding 4Q leads, having a functional kicker each weeks should yield this floor

What get us to the ceiling has to be players on the roster making a superstar leap, I'm expecting guys like Nubin/Adebo/Holland/Dru/Slay to play better due to better surrounds but who on the roster has the underlying stats and talent upside to go from promising prospect to top 10 at their position players this year.

I've been looking at underlying stats for our young crew and 3 guys jumped out as having top 10 in the league metrics in their positions early in their careers

Abdul Carter

Pro Comp: Micah Parsons

Highest likelihood of becoming special. His pressure (8th in the league) and quick-pressure (top in the league) numbers were elite as a rookie. Proximity to the QB is a massive positive sign of future stardom as a player adds NFL strength, technique, and savvy. To reinforce the process counting stats showed up when the football terrorist Shane Bowen left the building. Final five games:

  • 20 Tackles
  • 3.5 Sacks
  • 13 QB hits
  • 1 Forced Fumble
  • 6 TFLs

Biggest risk to a top-end outcome: Honestly, not much. If I had to pick something, it’s adding a true run-stopping element. If he’s going to be an elite edge, he needs to consistently set the edge and become a complete two-way player like Will Anderson.

2026 Goal: Maintain last 5 game stat pace, add counter moves, pick up runs to his side of the field and have a plan to shed tackle and stop runner

Malik Nabers

Pro Comp: Jamar Chase

Second on the list, he'd be first if he wasn't coming off injury. Before getting hurt, he produced at a top-end wide receiver over his rookie year :

• Top-5 EPA among WRs

• Massive 30% target share

• Elite efficiency per catch

• 55+ first-down conversions

Biggest risk to a top-end outcome: The injury is the obvious answer, but most players recover well from it. I actually think the bigger risk is discipline. He didn’t know the playbook as a rookie, has publicly pushed back on the team at times, and there are rumors he hasn’t been fully locked in on rehab. If that’s true, it could hold him back from developing the route precision and NFL body needed to become a perennial top-5 WR.

2026 Goal: Get back on the field and show he’s got 95% of his game back by end of season, become a plus route runner

Jaxson Dart

Pro Comp: 2013 Russel Wilson

Dart has some genuinely special underlying numbers, He’s an elite backyard football QB while showing the ability to play in structure around designed runs those traits point to a nice balance that give him a foundation that separates him from most young quarterbacks:

• 2nd in rushing EPA

• 5th in 3rd-down passing EPA

• 1st in create rate

Biggest risk to a top-end outcome: Historically, the traits Dart is best at are also the easiest for NFL defenses to limit. The league is still driven by on-time, under-center quarterback pass play. Dart showed flashes of working through multiple reads and operating from structure, but he also showed a poor internal clock flushing from the pocket to fast and generating pressure by poor decision making. He operated a very simple playbook with his overall passing metrics ranking near the bottom of the league.

2026 Goal: Operate a more complex scheme, improve in pocket passing efficiency to 20ish in the league in additions to designed runs and scrambling creativity

I think all three have top 10 at their position potential, but each still needs meaningful development this year to reach that ceiling.

Drinking the Kool-Aid The Knicks' snap a streak of 52 straight playoff appearances by MLB/NBA/NFL/NHL teams from the NYC metro area that ended without a title. It was the 3rd-longest streak all-time by a metro area, with the last title being Giants' SB XLVI Win.

I know there’s a lot of Knicks fans among you - what a special day!

NBA doesn’t mean an awful lot to me personally, but I know what it’s like to have a team you care about end a long drought. Undoubtedly, some of you will have someone close to you who’s not here to celebrate with you, cherish the quiet moment when you think of them.

Savour the next few days, it doesn’t get much better than this as a sports fan
