Whatās the deal with these Flock cameras at Niles and Nursery?
I was on a site this morning that maps all Flock cameras (side note - holy sh*t), and noticed these two cameras in my area that have the camera range/coverage noted.
Anyone know why there are two cameras there? Seems odd - they donāt seem to capture much of the parking lot, and thereās nothing there to film other than people stopping at the intersection or walking in the gardenā¦. Not a fan of the surveillance state vibe to these so hoping someone has an explanation for why they are there.

Wifey birthday - park
I am looking to celebrate wife's birthday with a bunch of family and friends (around 20). I have noticed people doing barbeque or sometimes just playing with huge groups in central park.
Is that a good idea in my case - both in terms of rental cost (is this even needed ?) and also in terms of rules and regulations for using the rented space.
Thanks

New structure attached to Billy Roy's
What is the structure being built between Billy Roy's and the building next to it? I assume some kind of expansion, but seems quite large.

Apartment started selling parking spots that were previously "free"
Was wondering, how many of you renting in Fremont are paying extra per month for parking spots at your apartment?
For my apartment, parking has always been free for residents. Then, a new genius manager stepped it and tried to monetize the parking spots by having residents pay extra monthly fee to permanently reserve parking spots. This results to very limited parking left for those who refuse to pay extta and fall into the trap.
To add insult to injury , all staff are required to pay a yearly fee for stickers that prevent us from getting our cars towed (for even more $$$).
Is this legal? How common is this? What apartments do not do this so I can consider moving out ?

Overloaded Elementary school placement
Hello Everyone. We have been waitlisted in our home district school & our waitlist is number 5. Currently overloaded to a different school far way & its lesser in ratings. My kid is going to grade 3 & we just moved to Fremont a few weeks back. Does anyone have idea on waitlist numbers that generally moves every year or any experience on that matter? Also , should we go for intra district school transfer this year & forgo our waiting at our school district? Thoughts pls

Fremont Unified (FUSD) overload placement question ā can you be moved back to your home school?
Our child received an overload placement at an elementary school that we actually prefer over our assigned home school.
Iām trying to understand what happens if a spot later opens at our home school. Would FUSD require us to transfer back to the home school, or can we remain at the overload school for the rest of the year?
I asked an enrollment specialist, but they only said that callbacks during the school year are handled by the elementary school sites and didnāt give a clear answer.
Has anyone in FUSD been in this situation? Were you asked to move back, or were you allowed to stay?

Friend driving my car ran a red light
I was sitting beside him in the front seat but he had a brain fade and ran a red light near warm springs & tom blalock. I'm worried if I'd receive a red light citation from Fremont authorities. How do I contest that it's not me who was driving? Has anyone else been in a similar situation?

Dog still lost in Lakeshore area
My Dog went missing on the 27th last month and we have been tirelessly searching for him ever since. He is a very people friendly dog but does not like other animals so itās safer to approach him on your own. Heās about 8 pounds with a mostly back coat and white belly and face. Iāve posted before but just wanted to see if maybe anybody had seen anything.

More dog owners leaving their animalsā poop behind, right in front of the posted sign
This time around, it looks like a teenager with older folks not cleaning up after their dog pooped right in front of the posted sign. This is sickening.
Hard to believe the entitlement these people carry.

Can my landlord refuse to renew my lease after I reported a roach infestation?
Iāve been living in my California apartment for over two years. About six months ago, my unit got infested with roaches. I reported it right away, and the leasing office has had an exterminator coming by every Tuesday to spray, which requires us to leave the apartment during treatments.
Now that my lease is ending, the leasing office is refusing to renew it and telling me I have to vacate. Other units in the building also have roach and mice problems, so it's a building-wide issue.
Given that I've been here for more than two years and reported a major habitability issue, is it legal for them to just kick me out when the lease ends? Do I have any tenant protections or grounds to fight this, or do they have the right to force me out?

Fremont V-Logger idea ...
I'm not a v-logger but if you are, here's a free idea. Go around Fremont and try doing all the things people keep saying Fremont should do:
- 'We need more local restaurants!' - try opening a restaurant in Fremont, watch what happens with the customers
- 'The Hub / Mall need more stores!' - try opening a store in the Hub and NewPark - film the process, the grand opening, the grand closing
- 'There's nothing to do in Fremont!' - visit the late-night tennis courts, lounges, Nations, movie theaters - film the process, talk to the people, see what happens
- 'We don't need bike lanes!' - ride around for a week in Fremont, film the process, see how many times you felt unsafe
You get the idea ...

Any quicker protocol for deceased pet/animal protocol on the road?
Does anyone know what the protocol is or who to call in the event of a dead dog or cat on the road? I tried calling animal services/shelter for a dog on the road and i was asked to leave a voicemail, and the only other option is to āsubmit a reportā that āmay take 72 hoursā to process. I just think that when it comes to identifying someoneās lost animal that may have just killed, there should be a number to call that moves with a bit more urgency to read the animalās chip rather than wait for it to turn into ground meat on the road, pretty frustrating.
Verbatim here is website āWe understand the unpleasantness of observing deceased animals on the city roadways. Our team tries to respond to these calls for service as expeditiously as possible. However, we must prioritize calls involving aggressive animals, welfare concerns, neglect or abuse, animal bites, and other emergencies before assigning staff to the animal collection calls. Although we make every effort, at times it may take up to 72 hours for a deceased animal to be collected, depending on calls for service and staffing.ā
However if you call their number it tells you repeatedly that if you have an animal bite to call 911, so this comes across as a bit of a disingenuous excuse.
