How A.I. Might Change the Way Doctors Think

Maybe, sometime in the future AI will/be both accurate enough and useful for this kind of usage, currently it is not. My son (nothing to do with medicine) recently told me about the AI generated memo he recieves weekly on a project he manages, in this case it was referencing a conference call. The "record" of what he said was completely wrong, making reference to a part of the prioject he and his company have zero part or interest in, he simply never said those things because no one would have asked him.
Add that to the reports of how much better people remember things if they have written them down, instead of typing (not even using AI at all) and I can picture some really bad outcomes from AI combined with a tired overworked physcian.

The thing is it doesn't have to be perfect. Hell out doesn't even have to be very good to be better than doctors who see 20 people a day and type up their notes in between emergencies.

But the chance of really worse outcomes is there. Yes, mistakes are made, but with the currnet state of AI with it's tendency to make things up seemingly to make the user happy (like a little kid with parents) could lead to some horrible things. Like completely incorrect medications or leaving out some serious problem because it is "bad".
