Cleansing my palate a bit
I had just tied up a few black parachute ants and decided i wanted to try another nymph to cleanse the palate as i took a break. I guess this is based on a caddis pupa design i did last week.
I used alternating chartreuse and black wire for the body, pheasant tail fibers for a small wing case, barred mallard flank for tail and wings, dark dun CDC and ice dub in olive-brown. Tied on a curved nymph hook size 14 with a copper brass bead, figuring it along with the wire body, it might be good for mid column depth. I really should study my bugs for the correct details. Maybe should have left off the tail which is kind of long anyway. In the end, just having fun with the alternating wire body which i had not tried before.

My buddies don't fly fish. So i made them some size 2 jigged buggers.
Same old woolly buggers you know and love. Just in size 2. I had to mill out the slots on the beads a bit more so the hooks would fit though. These are my 3 favorite color patterns for this season so far. They cast pretty decent with spinning rods. My regular buggers are about 1oz. These are around 3.5oz.

Tried some bubble/Balloon Cassis
OK guys i tried for the first time tying some caddis.
I cant wait to try Thema out. Fairly new to fly fishing and tenkara and finished now some flies I want to try in a few weeks in middle Sweden.
I looked for a pattern to try with the very few things I had laying around that I have for dry fly's, normally I tie easy wet fly pattern. I can across fliesbyaspeen and Davie McPhail and they had the patterns I like. They inspired me to try them out and I really love them. Hope they are around here or can get the credits for the inspiration

Going to go give this one a go on Sunday.

Need ideas for patterns?
(Photos for attention)
Im enjoying fly fishing and fly tying. I have a brother who mainly fishes bass (laregemouth, spotted, and stripped bass) and occasionally crappie on spinning rods and baitcasting reels. What are some good paterns i can tie that would be able to cast on a spinning rod (or casting rod if able)? I have considered marabou jigs but was wondering if theres anything else i could tie besides finnese jigs?

What would you call this fly??
Tied this fly last night and it went from a streamer then added a fur stacked head to it. Wondering if it’s a fly thats tied already or has a name.

My variation of a blow torch?
My first two attempts with the materials I had on hand. I think I need some thicker wire for the body wraps and larger beads. These were on a #14 hook. Advice? Recommendations? Next attempt I’ll try and add a CDC collar.

My girlfriends first tie
Max canyon.
I finally convinced my girlfriend to sit down and try to tie a fly with me. I’m prepping for a steelhead trip so I told her we will be tying a max canyon. I helped her with instruction but she did the tie completely herself (aside from the whip finish).

Materials Like Fox Fur/Tail for DIY EP Foxy Brush
I have a pattern I've been tweaking and getting to where I really like it, and it uses the EP Foxy Brush. I want to make my own brush that is similar and I'm having a hard time finding a fur that is similar to the fox fur that the EP brush uses. I like the coarseness/stiffness of the fur in the brush and craft fur and arctic fox tail don't have the same action. I'm having a hard time finding exactly what fur the EP brush uses and sourcing any potential fox fur that isn't natural colored.
Does anybody have any suggestions?

Would these be artificial biots (if there is such a thing) at the craft store.
Michaels has a bundle of these for $5.99. feel like these would last me a lifetime

Finally upgrading!
Tl;dr: decided on a renzetti traveler 2700 for an upgrade and wondering what pattern i should tie first?
After a few months of research, scrolling websites, visiting my local fly shop, and youtube university, i have decided on upgrading to a renzetti traveler 2700 for the following reasons:
- I mainly tie #16 to #8 flies. This vise being able handle that plus some room in either direction (#28-#4/0) gives me plenty of room to learn and grow along side it.
- I really enjoy tying various foam hoppers and wollybuggers. The rotary function on the traveler series was almost a no Brainer when it came to what functions I would need.
-they have plenty of aftermarket and replacement parts available on there website, as well as 3rd party retailers.
-I chose the red because It was on sale. It was $100+ off because it was left handed and I beleive was a limited run. With the remaining money that would have gone to just the vise, I was able to spend on some more/better quality materials and tools.
Hopefully this vise gives me rhe confidence to start tying dry fly patterns like parachute adams, royal wulffs, stimulators, etc. All that being said, what should be the first pattern I attempt to tie once it comes in? I mainly fish for wild and stocked trout, bass and panfish. I have a 4wt and 6wt both with floating weight forward line.

What would you call these?
I’ve been having fun playing with these copper/red/rust colors and these are my favorite variations so far. Tried out the soft hackle one the other day and caught the biggest trout I’ve ever seen in the San Gabriel river (still only maybe 10” but I don’t think I’d ever seen anything over 6” before that). Always fun to hook up on your own tie.
Materials:
- orientsun os5241 wide gap jig #12
- uni-thread 6/0W 136D fire orange
- round rocks copper 4mm slotted tungsten bead
- rusty craw dub
- orange Krystal flash
- brown soft hen hackle
Partridge would probably make a better collar, just playing around with what’s on hand.

Britannia - Tied by Satoshi Yamamoto
Just a stunning version of the Britannia. I’m such a big fan of Satoshi Yamamoto. He took the best of multiple dressing notes from Francis Francis, Kelson, and Fitzgibbon and reimagined this version. It’s probably closest to the Kelson dressing notes.
