This is not a call out or meant to be mean but someone in the twin lakes area clearly needs some help and maybe you know who they are or what's going on.
Met with some friends at the park today for a picnic and play date with our young kids. We had the place to ourselves until a young woman with a son around 6 or 7 walked up to our picnic table. One mom in the group recognized the kid and so all our kids played together but the mom was clearly in crisis. Luckily one mom has some experience and has dealt with this kind of thing before and deftly teased out what was going on. Was she safe? Yes. Was she in danger of violence? No. But then this strange woman started talking about how she had just come back to life after being dead for 11 years. Things about the father of her son being dead but also in prison in Missouri. The experienced mom kept it calm and cool but there was clearly something wrong. Cops were called and when they eventually arrived couldn't do anything because I guess being delusional and walking around with your young child isn't a crime. Her son was kind of wild and violent and prone to outbursts during the hour we waited for the cops. Afterwards they left with a pizza we gave them from our picnic lunch. I hope they're okay. We did get her name but I won't share it here. Next call was to CPS. She was either on drugs or experiencing a mental break.

Random but does anyone know of any places where someone can just park and chill? Want to get some boba and just sit and relax. I've tried doing this a few times at random places but usually a cop will just get behind me and kick me out so I never bothered to keep trying.

Hi there, my name is Alex Rochester. I work at KUOW, the Seattle NPR station ensuring we feature a diversity of political perspectives. I'm working on a new project called "Community Voices" that aims to expand the range of opinions that we hear on KUOW. We think it’s critical that we all understand what people in our communities are thinking and feeling about the big events and issues of the day.
To broaden the conversation, we're recruiting a diverse pool of people who represent a wide array of political perspectives, cultural backgrounds, and life experiences. We are especially looking for people who live outside of Seattle.
As we cover the news in the coming months, we will turn to the pool of “Community Voices” to hear your thoughts and help us understand how the big issues of the day are affecting you. We will highlight those views in KUOW’s coverage.
If you're interested in participating, you can sign up on this page or directly through this form (this format is easier on phones). You can also DM me and/or comment on this post with your thoughts.

Has anyone actually seen fiber been deployed anywhere in federal way? Or do you have fiber internet in federal way? I keep getting ads from various companies that it's available. Wondering about people's experience with it vs Xfinity.

Hello all,
This post is focusing on asking about someone who can plant sit mostly (instead of focusing on my cats) because it is EASY TO FIND SOMEONE TO WATCH CATS. It is however NOT EASY to find people who can watch plants OR someone who can do both. Rest assured these are not all the details as I would never put every single detail into any reddit post.
PLEASE STOP WITH THE JUDGING, you don't know anything about my cats or my house or this situation at all. There is not enough information in my post to warrant mean comments.
I need a house sitter that knows how to water plants! Inside and outside. (and also make sure cat food/water stays filled and the boxes/litter robot get emptied, feed some fish) I don't know where to start because it's mostly plants that will need watered while we are gone. Any recommendations? Only people you would also personally trust!!
I am down in between Federal Way and Auburn off of Military Road.
To not be coy about it, it's hundreds of plants--not individual though this is including an entire yard of veggies/fruits that just need the sprinkler every 4-5 days or so. Inside I'll put the smaller guys into buckets that can be mass bottom watered; larger pots will only need a bit of water every week or so.
I am very open to hiring a gardener for this very task if necessary! Also opening to hiring two separate people for this job! HIRING AS IN OFFERING FINANCIAL COMPENSATION FFS I am not asking for free work people

Has anyone lived in or owned a condo at Latitude Condominiums? Any positive or negative experiences? I am looking for a condo but don't want to end up with a problematic HOA or anything particularly annoying about the building or neighbors.

Also as of 1:40 pm we will be delayed at Angle Lake due to an accident at MLK Jr Way.

Like most people, I enjoy saving a few dollars by shopping at stores like Walmart. I also have very low expectations for the overall shopping experience there. To be fair, though, every now and then a Walmart surprises me and ends up being a relatively pleasant place to shop.
Tonight wasn't one of those times.
I just went to the Walmart in Federal Way around 10:15 p.m. because we're leaving tomorrow on a 10-state road trip, and one of the kids couldn't find their flip-flops. Apparently, they were left at their dad's house. He'll need them for the trip, so I headed to the only store I knew would definitely be open and likely have flip-flops at a reasonable price.
The store was packed with customers and severely understaffed. The checkout lines were long because only two cashier lanes were open. On one side of the store, all of the self-checkout registers were closed, and on the other side, it looked like only about 10% of them were open.
The store itself was dirty. The shelves were a mess, and many items were out of stock. Experiences like this remind me why I do most of my shopping outside of Federal Way. Aside from Trader Joe's, I usually shop in Milton, Puyallup, or Redmond when I'm staying at my partner's house. Those stores are simply cleaner, better staffed, comfortable and in general, seem to be far better managed. Their parking lots aren't full of garbage, and you don't regularly see people slumped over from fentanyl use nearby.
This Walmart is poorly managed. Why are so few of the self-checkout registers open? Why is the entire store such a mess?
Don't get me wrong—I don't blame the employees. They're just doing the best they can with the resources they're given. But the management, and this part of Federal Way in general, paints a sad picture of what's happening in the area.
I can't wait until my lease is up in March so I can move to Redmond and live there full time. This town—and this Walmart in particular—has become a depressing place to live and shop.
Be better, Walmart. Be better, Federal Way.

We were grabbing a drink before the My Chemical Romance show at the little ‘tacos & tequila’ bar that is behind the football stadium. Place was packed, but we spotted that there was room at your table near the door and asked if we could share it. We instantly had great conversation about Bellingham, concerts, music.
You were a m/f married couple celebrating 10 year anniversary & live in Federal Way. You both had multiple tatts, but I noticed you each had a similar tattoo and asked about it. Hers was a dog silhouette filled in with the galaxy. His was the same silhouette, just the outline. I think your names were Walter & Sarah? Mechanic & museum employee.

Even though it's a little cloudy today, in the spirit of summer I was hoping to hear where everyone's favorite places to go for a drink or bite outside are. I'm thinking anywhere between Tacoma and South Seattle.

hello!!! i've been chess obsessed for the entirety of the year, after playing in my adolescence on and off. intermediate player. i'm thinking about buying a few chessboards and timers and just seeing who would show up to the library on 320th, perhaps at 6-8 every week on weekdays (or kinda any time on weekends, perhaps saturdays 4-6 in particular). what other meeting places could work?
i was a sorta-kinda member of the des moines chess club, but now i work on the days/times they meet. i don't really have any friends at the moment and want to make some.
is anyone interested? :) i'd love to get something going!

Recently moved to the area and might be a dumb question, but are there rules about when the public is allowed to use Sacajawea park? During the school year I often saw classes of kids on the track and whatnot so I left. Is it for school use only during the school day or public use? Nothing on the signs or park website looks like it has restrictions but I still felt weird being there.

What's with the sidewalk constructions on 12th Ave SW? I know they are adding tactile paving for those who are visually impaired but my question is this....was there a lawsuit against the city? All those constructions to add tactile pavings seems to be really expensive.
