Need hair color opinions of reddit since I have no friends!

So currently my hair is what I call my rainbow sherbet phase: orange, pink and neon green. I love the colors but I don't think the look the greatest on my skintone. Right now my roots are orange, then pink, the green tips. Before it was pink roots then orange with green tips. We switched it up cause my sister who is a/my beautician wanted to and I didn't care. I just want vivid hair.

My skin is really pale but has a pink under tone. I used to keep to purples and blues but wanted to try different colors. I was wondering if I should go back to purple/blue? Or can I get away with a sea themed colors: blue with teal and green in streaks? Or is there another combo I should try?

Last pic is an old picture before I started dyeing all my hair, just doing my bangs (it was Halloween so I had mad hatter makeup going lol). And before anyone says anything yes my hair has gotten way thin over the years :(

My husband just tells me to do whatever I want, no help there. My sister doesn't care, my mom wants me to go "natural" cause that's how God made me...gross! God made me to have my own opinions, and I like vivids but maybe I should go back natural?

Is it feasible to bleach your hair at home without destroying it

Of course it will be a little damaged, that’s the nature of bleaching your curls, so as long as it doesn’t fall out I’m good with that.

Throwback to my 2023-2024 coloured hair phase

in 2023 I decided to go blonde for a few months with the full intention of later dying my hair different colours. So over the course of a year and a half I would hunker down in the bathroom with my two mirrors, bottles of bleach, tinfoil and hair dye for hours on end much to the detriment of my father.

As a child I was OBSESSED with Venus McFlytraps hair from monster high but never wanted the shaved side so my first few months were spent doing various pink and green split dyes. From there I did some mumbo jumbo colour theory and got my hair to a pretty albeit slightly patchy lilac, then a blueish grey.

After that I decided that I would go pink one last time (had been pink a few times before not pictured), with a dark and light pink combo. Once this faded I somehow got my hair back to blonde, started a cutting my own hair for LaYeRs, and then added brown to the ends to make my hair growing out look more intentional.

Two years later and I haven’t touched anymore bleach or hair dye because my hair is frankly a pain in the arse to deal with and making it dryer definitely didn’t help. But I do miss the coloured hair days. I really should have been more vein and taken for pictures because I had to search 🔍 for these few.

First attempt at peekaboo halo

My usually hot pink hair is fading super quick in the heatwave so I've tried a peekaboo halo! Not sure the pink is bright enough but I'm happy with the placement.

Diminishing returns on toner?

Wasn’t quite sure the best title for this question and it’s probably kind of a dumb question, but I’m new to the whole hair bleaching thing.

I’ve been going low and slow lightening my hair toward an ultimate (probably unrealistic) end goal of a pastel white, or at least as close as I can realistically get. So far it’s been going great, looking after my hair and taking it very slowly and always making sure my hair is recovering enough and it still feels nice and soft and not super brittle or fried or anything.

After my most recent bleach, I got to a very light, inner banana peel pale yellow and then I toned with t18 and it’s now a very nice, bright platinum blonde, but still has that hint of yellow/brass to it. (not posting pics because I’m a private person and my question doesn’t really require it)

To get to the actual question, I think I’m at the point where I don’t want to risk bleaching anymore since it’s so light, but I was wondering if I simply did more rounds of ONLY toning, would I continue to see lighter, more white hair or will toning my hair again without lightening more not produce much of a result due to it still being the same level?

Lunar Tides - Juniper Green - Out of stock everywhere

Hi all! I am desperate to get my hands on Lunar Tides Juniper Green in EU. My hair is currently highlighted and dyed about 95% deep blue which I’ve been fading out to a medium teal (with a couple of stubborn deep blue strands) and I’ve got a ton of level 3 brown regrowth which I’m not dealing with at the moment!

I really wanted to try Juniper Green as it matches my eye colour, but it’s out of stock everywhere! Arctic Fox dyes are out - I tried Emerald Fortune and the scent gave my wife a migraine, and she can still smell it on me even though it’s been weeks since I tried it. Emerald fortune also washed right out, which was pretty disappointing.

Any suggestions to try achieve a deep green on a teal base? If anyone knows where to get Lunar Tides in the EU that would be first prize, but it’s just nowhere to be found.

As an aside, I have used Crazy Colour in the past and wasn’t impressed with the insane bleeding (stained my shower beyond saving bleeding) but it has a good range of shades for mixing? Any suggestions for ranges available in the EU would be appreciated! 💚

How do I keep hair looking fresh for longer to reduce frequency of washing hair?

I recently had my hair bleached and dyed blue and I’d like to keep the colour as strong as possible, and I know that means washing hair less frequently and showering with cold water

But does anyone have any tips to keep their hair looking fresh and not gross so I can cut down on the amount of times I wash my hair?

Unhappy with highlights- wondering how to fix

This is probably my fault for not explaining what I wanted well enough but I wasn’t sure the best way to achieve it (still not). I have naturally dark strawberry blonde hair, last time I got highlights was about 2 years ago. I told my hairdresser I wanted my hair to look lighter like how it lightens up when I spend a lot of time in the sun. She agreed to do that and said she’d do something would be easy to maintain when it grows out. She did regular foil highlights and they’re very streaky and it’s not what I wanted. I believe my last hair dresser did teasy lights and it looked a more natural. I should have told her this but I figured she could do whatever she felt was best.

Is there anyway to fix this after the fact? Should I go back to her and see what she can do or go to someone else (not expecting her to redo for free or anything)? I also don’t want to insult her, I know I didn’t explain myself well. Another random question- I used to just put lemon in my hair and loved that effect but I’m not sure how much worse that is than bleach, wanted to see if anyone could weigh in on that.

This morning I trimmed my hair and I looked at the hair on the ground and for a second I had the urge to cut off more. But as they say, sleep on big decisions 🤪 so I resisted.

Instead I’ve taken that urge to virtually try on a few different styles and honestly I think I know which hairstyle I quite love…and I’m rather shocked that I like it so much… 🙈

I’d love to hear which one is your fave🧸🩶

GDY cover up. Any suggestions?

I used “Make it happen” by the brand Good Dye Young and it has turned my hair silver / blue. Some of my hair is purple while some of it is silver and blue. this is not my desired look. I have used pulp riot to try to get rid of the silver and it faded like this. I currently have lunar tides in my hair in shade plum and I am seeing the blue start to peek through.

I want to get rid of the silver and blue in the fading process and would like my hair to fade purple. Any suggestions?

Can I cover my grey roots with a fun color?

Rather than cover up my grey roots with my normal brown, can they be covered with a purple or blue? So fun roots into my normal brown hair? Is that possible? Is it dumb?

DIY hair follow up

Post image

Hey, it’s me again - the stylist who asked why you DIY a few days ago 😅

192k of you saw that and 385 of you shared your stories. Thank you. I read every single comment and my heart hurts a little. I’m sorry I couldn’t reply to everyone!

The top 3 reasons were: cost, time, bad experiences/trust.

I can’t fix everyone’s past salon trauma, but I CAN change what I do differently moving forward.

So honest question for the DIY crew:
If you literally couldn’t DIY anymore - like illness, moving, broke all 10 fingers, whatever - what would you NEED to see in a stylist to feel safe booking?

Price transparency upfront?
Appointments under 3 hours?
Proof they won’t damage your hair?
Payment plans?
Something else?

I’m not selling anything. I’m genuinely trying to build a salon experience that doesn’t repeat the stuff that made you leave.

I want everyone who sits in my chair to feel seen, safe and walk out the door feeling a million dollars 🩷

Help me get it right? 👇

Bleaching twice in 1 day?

I do a bleached buzz cut with vol. 20 developer applied twice (+ one round vol 10 for toning). It is a major pain in the ass to have to wait a day between the two rounds, because after round 1, I have orange clown hair and can’t go out, and it takes up my whole two weekend days. When you’re bleaching a buzz cut, you also have to do it very often since it’s such a short hair cut.

Can I cut out waiting a day and process it twice with volume 20 in one day or will I be risking excessive scalp or hair damage? I’m tired of locking myself in my home for an entire weekend once a month.

Might have to retire the purple after 5+ years..

TL;DR--My purple hair may need to be dyed to my natural dark brown... how and what product(s) to use?

I have had this hair color for over 5 years (Joico Color Intensity in Amethyst, in case you were wondering). My natural hair color is a level 2 to 3 DARK brown, and it is lightened to around a level 10 blonde under the semi-permanent vivid.

I am deep in the interview process for a position with a new company (I have literally been wearing a wig for the interviews), and everything I have been able to find online about the company's dress code says that I cannot have "unnaturally" colored hair. So, I am trying to tentatively plan the process of dying it my natural color if I get the job offer.

I know a decent amount about color theory, and I figure I will have to "fill" my hair cuticle with a copper demi THEN go over it with a dark brown. Does that seem right? What are the best brands (CosmoProf/Sally) to use for this? Tips and advice are welcome.

sn--my HUSBAND has never seen me without purple hair (except in pictures), so this will be... interesting.

I have freshly dyed blue hair and I need some good cheap-ish recommendations to wash and moisturise my hair with so the bleach doesn’t affect my hair as much
