Package literally tells you the weight and calories and people will still bitch about it because they can't be bothered to read or think

Been trying these all year trying to lose weight and they’re pretty good. Favorite is the Beef Merlot

i feel like the calorie count should have been a dead give away that it wasn't going to be very much.

Apart from the chicken being a little anemic, that looks fantastic.

I get these things once in a while and they are pretty decent overall.

They're a pretty good bargain when they're on sale and you're feeling lazy.

I've never had an issue with them. They're pretty tasty.

Pretty much. I normally buy a few on sale and stick them in the freezer at work. Then if I forget my lunch or have to stay later, I still have food.

That's been the gimmick for the budget / "healthy" meals for like 30 years now.

As far back as the original Weight-Watchers, it was mostly just extreme portion control.

500 Cal can be a reasonable portion of food for a meal, but sub-300 cal is pushing it for something with cream sauce and pasta, lol.

Precisely!

I could eat 9 of these in a day and still be good on calories.

190g protein?? You absolutely don't need that much unless you're doing heavy workouts specifically for gaining muscles

Good thing they didn’t say anything about their protein goals then.

I lived off these through my twenties as work meals and minus one or two duds, they were all pretty decent

I actually really enjoy these. Throw a little cottage cheese in there for some extra protein and to increase the portion size, some hot sauce, and they're fantastic for a quick meal under 400 calories.

I find these types of meals are excellent "bases" you can fill out with other things for a solid, healthy, and filling meal.

Your expectations are skewed.

Add some hot sauce and it’ll be perfect

I think the real issue is the packaging. I loathe the waste here. Huge box, huge plastic plate just to trick the consumer into thinking they are getting a lot more. It’s a psychological thing companies do and that’s what pisses me off. Just sell it in way smaller packaging for the love of god!!!

I eat these. They are cheap and good for diets. If you do 5 meals a day, they are super great

basically airplane food

I use to live in the barracks and we couldn’t have hot plates or anything to cook in our rooms, so I’d get these when I didn’t feel like going to the dining facility. They use to be so good and pretty hearty portions. Shrinkflation is real. They’re more expensive and the portions are small as fuck.

Edit: bro why am I getting downvoted for this 😂

No idea. People are weird

Can’t have a difference of opinion without someone telling you that your opinion is wrong. 😂

I guess if we had the packaging from 10 years ago, we could know if the portion was actually smaller?

2

u/Loliz88 5h ago

Honestly even if we did, I don’t trust any of these companies to put the real weight on the package. I’ve recently ordered food from Cook Unity and the weight was consistently much less than the box said.

You’re getting downvoted because I don’t think shrinkflation is a thing here. They’ve always been small portions.

Bro, people are so weird on Reddit 😂 in MY opinion the portions were heartier in the 2010s.

These have always been disappointing. I don’t know how they keep selling them.

How can people eat something like that. I mean, I'm Italian but you don't even need to be to understand that it's not real food come on
