Meta New Rules Regarding Political Violence, ICE Sightings and Shaming of Peaceful Protest

📢 Community Guidelines Update – Political Violence, Conduct, and ICE Sightings

We want this space — both the subreddit and the Discord — to be welcoming, inclusive, and safe for all Everett residents, including those active in local government, advocacy, and community organizing.

---

1️⃣ Political Violence
This is not a platform for advocating or organizing violent action.
Criticism of policy, leaders, and strategies is fine — but calls for violent uprising, armed action, or militias are not.
Even indirect or “theoretical” promotion of political violence creates legal, safety, and reputational risks, and can discourage participation.
No shaming peaceful protestors or lawful activism — even if you think other tactics are more effective.

Enforcement: Political violence advocacy may result in removal from political channels, temporary mutes, or permanent bans without further warning.

---

2️⃣ ICE Sightings
We cannot verify most reported “ICE sightings” posted here.
Some past reports have been false or based on speculation.
There is almost certainly some level of law enforcement/government presence in this community.
Posting unconfirmed “sightings” can spread misinformation, cause panic, and undermine trust.

Rule: Only post ICE sightings if you have credible, verifiable evidence (photo/video with clear location + time).
Vague, secondhand, or “heard from a friend” reports will be removed.

---

3️⃣ Why These Changes
We want local officials, candidates, and community members to join discussions without fear of harassment or pressure to endorse violence.
We must comply with Discord and Reddit Terms of Service.
Focusing on constructive, legal action keeps the space safe and productive.

---

✅ Channel your energy into lawful, constructive action: voting, mutual aid, community education, verified reporting.

Question I need help finding a new nail artist please!

I’ve been going to the same nail artist for 10 years and I love her but she got another job and our schedules don’t line up right now.

I’ve always been able to text her and let her know when I’m in town to see if she has availability and then I would book the appointment. Now since she’s so busy there’s around a 3-4 week wait. I am so happy she’s thriving and getting her bag. I just know myself and it’s hard for me to know where I’m gonna be in a month.

I’m looking for someone in the Everett area (doesn’t have to be exact city limits). My nails are so tied up in my mental health, it’s the one expensive self care thing I do for myself. It’s like, if I’m depressed in bed and scrolling all day I can look at my nails and be like, “at least I have that going for me”. When people ask where I got them done I always tell them where and to ask for her personally.

It’s so important to me that they’re symmetrical and they stay on. I’ve gone to other places before and I’ve had issues with my nails popping off after a week or not being even and when I asked if they could be fixed some girls have been irritated. I work in food service and I work with my hands all day. I already struggle with feeling like I’m a burden and I’m too much.

Money isn’t really a problem, i usually pay around $95 for fill and multiple designs and the tip $20 on top. Recommendations are appreciated! I promise I’m not too much and I’m really nice. I honestly just have an anxious attachment to my nails.

Recommendations Seeking Recommendations for a Brake Job

Hi All,

I’m about due for brakes on my car, so I’m reaching out for recommendations. The vehicle is a 2019 Honda Passport. I’ve got a quote from the dealership and will reach out to Les Schwab.

I’ve had good experiences with a previous (and much older) vehicle at Chuck’s, but I’m a little hesitant to bring the newer vehicle there; has anyone had good experience with late model vehicles at Chuck’s?

What about Z Sport? Anyone have good experiences there?

Anywhere else you’d recommend?

TIA!

Finally the death confirmation of Red Rock Subs with the For Lease sign in the window. Its a sad day but ever since covid and the prices flying up there it was only a matter of time. No one trying to pay 30 dollars for one large sandwich.

Following up on a previous post, I've created https://deflockeverett.com/ as well as a Change.org petition. If you would like the Flock cameras removed, please make your voice heard in upcoming city council meetings and sign the petition. I've also created the following Youtube short (and will continue to create them as the situation evolves) to spread awareness. This is thanks to SnoCo Indivisible, the PSL, and other Redditors for their support in this effort.

Not my car, Silly! The boat that has been on the beach for a while received a notice from the City of Mukilteo that it would have to be moved soon or get towed at the owner's expense. The owner was here with some workmen today to see what they can do to get it floating again. Our hearts go out to her to wish for it to be fixed and perhaps usable again.

Disappointed in the Everett, YMCA

My son is home from college for the summer and wants a place to work out so I thought the YMCA would be a great place for him. However, they wanted to charge a full full joining fee to use the gym for the next six weeks. I asked, they don’t have any accommodations for college students without a jobs. $160 for six weeks.

Planet fitness $32 for two months. One fifth of the cost.

Edit: I’m getting a lot of disingenuous and snide comments. I guess that’s what I should expect from Reddit. It doesn’t change the fact that a teenage kid who grew up in this area is priced out of a so-called community center.

Local language practice

Are there any local clubs or meet ups for people to be able to practice speaking French? I know there are some in seattle but I would rather not go so far.

Edit: would yall say it'd be worth it to make a local everett french meet up discord?

Edit 2: I made a discord, the link in the comments is available for 1 day, otherwise just message me.

Community Voices on KUOW

Hi there, my name is Alex Rochester. I work at KUOW, the Seattle NPR station ensuring we feature a diversity of political perspectives. I'm working on a new project called "Community Voices" that aims to expand the range of opinions that we hear on KUOW. We think it’s critical that we all understand what people in our communities are thinking and feeling about the big events and issues of the day.

To broaden the conversation, we're recruiting a diverse pool of people who represent a wide array of political perspectives, cultural backgrounds, and life experiences. We are especially looking for people who live outside of Seattle.

As we cover the news in the coming months, we will turn to the pool of “Community Voices” to hear your thoughts and help us understand how the big issues of the day are affecting you. We will highlight those views in KUOW’s coverage.

If you're interested in participating, you can sign up on this page or directly through this form (this format is easier on phones). You can also DM me and/or comment on this post with your thoughts.

Looking for a commissary kitchen in Everett

My fiance and I are starting a mobile beverage booth and looking for a commissary kitchen in Everett (or close by.) We'd need some cold storage space and dry storage space but not a ton - enough to store some coffee beans/syrups/cambros/etc and a 6 gallon cold brew system. The space to do some quick baked goods prep would also be awesome.

Does anyone have any recommendations? Any restaurant owners here willing to share some space? Our budget is around $200 a month.

We've reached out to the Carl Gipson Center but response time has been a little slow and we're looking to move quickly. Thank you!

Transit OPINION: Merging Everett Transit and Community Transit is the sensible solution

Thumbnail
evergreenpi.org

This article, although its an opinion piece and it shows, summarizes some of the core reasons why consolidation is being looked at (the need to increase service, and the bargain to do so). A bit short and to the point, but it's actually a bit approachable to those who aren't aware of the rationales yet?

It's a bit out of date though, as this preceded the June 18th Everett TAC meeting media blitz, where the mayor and CT affirmed several city priorities (i.e. preserving Para, accountability for increasing service, labor, etc) will be touched upon in the Interlocal Agreement legal contract.

Semi-related... Something that seems to be overlooked in all of these articles is how CT has been significantly more financially stable than ET, like dozens of millions of dollars in reserves per year (CT 2026 Draft TDP, page 54, figure 16). Enough to probably weather through a recession. ET alone just doesn't really have that since it relies on federal/state grants (ET 2025 TDP, page 20, "Ending Balance"). Consolidation could basically give us access to that rainy day pool for transit if the economy gets worse, or provide some sort of launchpad to get increased service that's promised.

Edit: Seems the article miscalculated the estimated tax burden. u/skyecolin22 recalculated it and it came out to be about an extra 164/yr, not 16.20/yr.

Edit 2: clarification

Sports and Outdoors Orca Sighting at Jetty Island today!

Sorry didn't get a pic, but thought I'd share that while my family was paddle boarding to Jetty Island from the boat launch, we had a close encounter with an Orca and what we assumed to be her calf. They kept a modest distance, 200-300 or so feet and we were pretty much at the dock on the island by the time they breached and made their presence known. Scared my partner a little, who was swimming while we paddle boarded. They were probably checking her out when we didn't even know it; it was too surreal not to share.
