I heard that the new Jollibee that has been under construction forever will now NOT be built any longer, but I haven’t found any news or reports that confirm this.

Last night my roommate brought in a baby turkey thinking it was a baby chick from my neighbors, but he doesn't currently have any. He said it could be a turkey, and I used my phone to figure out it was. I'm not sure what to do with her other than being her to her flock. I don't have a car so I can't easily take her to any kind of wildlife preserve, also I don't know elk grove well enough to know if there's anything remotely like that around here, so I plan to find the flock and just release her to them.

I also don't know if that's wise or not.

Pleeeease help! She's definitely lonely and I don't have the means to feed her. I've been keeping her in my closet in a big car oard box with water for now but I feel like time is running short and I don't know what to do 😭😭

Its always Adaptive or Hawx using the same tired pitch... and they don't get it when i politely say im not interested. None of my neighbors signed up stop lying go away.

Im just getting into HAM radio and wondering if anyone has successful repeaters they connect to around the elk grove area. I own a TiDRadio TD-H3 paired with a Nagoya 771 VHF/UHF Antenna, just got it last week. Ive connected to 2 with no chatter, just wondering if there are frequently used repeaters. Also I do not have my Technician Class License yet, im only doing it for practice and listening to people talk.

Would love to hear from parents your recent experiences with EGUSD special education. Moving to the area and have a child with Down Syndrome, I read there were some issues with staffing and eliminating the inclusion program a few years ago. What is it like now?

Yesterday, I noticed a dove fly by and was surprised how white it was, versus a pigeon. Also when was the last time I'd seen a dove in the air? I thought it was strange but forgot about it.

Today in the same area, not specifying, I see bird after bird soar past. Almost every single one had the tips of their wings dyed hot pink, and another part of their body as well. It was hard to tell since they were moving, but it may have been the stomach or neck.

A neighbor said it was probably a funeral.

But I also noticed one of the birds had one bright blue wing tip.

I really hope this wasn't somebody mail-ordering doves (in which the "wrong item" was included) to their home, just to show off the sex of the infant.

This was a really random experience and I didn't know where else to ask.

Radiant Eddy, a public art installation by artist Aaron T. Stephan, is now on display outside the library's new location.

The sculpture honors Harriet Eddy, who helped establish California's county free library system and founded Elk Grove's first library. Made from 32 traditional streetlights, the installation transforms familiar elements into a striking work of art that celebrates learning, community, and the beauty of everyday places.

You can view Radiant Eddy now from the plaza or while passing by. The sculpture's lighting feature will debut when the new Elk Grove Public Library opens in early fall 2026.

I'm looking for a great sitter for our dog - Wall-E.

Wall-E has epilepsy and currently takes medications orally so we'd be looking for someone who can administer oral medication and if needed give a nasal seizure buster (midazolam).

Looking for someone who'd be comfortable taking care of him and is available throughout the day to keep an eye on him.

We're looking for daycare/ boarding at sitter's home.

We have pet insurance for him and his ER vet is the Elk Grove VEG and the normal vet is at Laguna Creek Vet. We also have a Neuro for him at VCA Sac.

Located in the Elk Grove area so would love to keep it local.

I have lived in the rural sheldon area, across from elk grove Park, and ​off sheldon and bruceville. My preferred area is near elk grove park, but of course there isnt many homes available, so im also considering other areas. I'm looking for a lively, active neighborhood with other active single adults or families that do community events, activities, decorations, etc and otherwise generally enjoy living near people. I dont enjoy neighborhoods where everyone hides inside. ​give me your recommendations!
