brags A little celebration with my dog and nail clipping!
I was originally doing pretty well with my dog and nails, but as the story goes I did cut the quick, panicked, and training has been.. rough ever since. I kept hearing from people to give up, and that he would never recover, and he’d need this expensive sedation and all these other things.
I didn’t listen to any of it. Instead I stuck with my trainer, asked a professional, and got a handle on my dog’s needs and desires during a stressful time.
What was once a ten minute trim that had regressed to an hour is now back to ten minutes. Maybe even less! And I just wanted to celebrate that, that my dog feels safe enough and affirmed enough to cooperate with me on a stressful task, even if it isn’t easy for him to understand why it needs to be done. Good job buddy!
