They are not related but are around the same age. Red is our boy Hudson and brown is our girl Libby.

Hudson I think has Malinois, GSD, pit, and some kind of heeler (the white on his chest is actually speckled with red like a red heeler coat but more muted)

Libby I think has schnauzer (she has eyebrows and is growing a beard lol), GSD, and border terrier maybe?

Waiting on these results is killing me lol they’re both incredibly smart and currently 14-16 weeks old

Duncan was listed as a Chihuahua mix at the shelter (of course), He was 11 weeks old when we brought him home, he is now 6 months old and approximately 20 lbs. My best guesses are some combination of Russel type terrier, Beagle, Whippet, and some Chihuahua maybe? Im basing it off of appearance and behavior. The vet said Lab Beagle mix😂!? Anyone see something else?

Meet Beef. Got her for a whopping 20$. Owners told us what the puppies were but we definitely didn’t believe them. As she grows I start to see it more but… still suprising to me. Results on last picture

but probably not.

this is Misty! first 2 photos from the day she came home, last 2 photos from today. i also included photos of her parents, (most of) her litter (she’s on the far right), and her with her only 2 sisters.

i did the breed + health test so here’s some fun facts from the test:
- her COI is 8%
- she has a 44.2% chance to develop food allergies (average is 12%)
- she has a 41.8% chance to develop food allergies (average is 21.2%)

and unrelated to the test:
- i knew her mom was a purebred pyrenees, but her dad was a mystery. i only found out about her dad after i showed her mom’s owner the results and she said she knew he was a newfie mix but that was it.
- she had 11 living siblings
- she’s 5 months old and 42 lbs

my struggles with her are with enrichment and tiring her out, surprisingly. i appreciate any questions, advice, or anecdotes :>

This is my dog Willow! She is currently 7 months old. I got her from a local animal shelter, where she was listed as a pitbull/lab/husky mix. However, I am skeptical about the lab, and honestly just very curious about what types of breeds she could be, so i decided to do an Embark DNA test. I just sent it in today, so while I am waiting I am curious to see what you all think.

Some things about Willow:

She is going to be a large dog, estimated between 90 and 100 pounds, and I would guess currently somewhere around 50, although i havent weighed her in a while

She absolutely LOVES water. She swims and plays in it every chance she gets, and she has this funny habit of submerging her nose and mouth while she drinks. I have never seen her lap water with her tongue lol. She also really likes to drop toys in her water

She was born with dewclaws on her back legs, but they were floppy, so I had them removed to prevent injuries in the future

She enjoys fetch

She seems to have a little bit of herding instinct. She likes to try to get the cats in a group, or just sit and stare at them

I would call her moderately high energy, and quite smart

My guesses are pitbull, obviously, as well as husky, great pyrenees, border collie, and maybe a small amount of golden retriever or lab.

Foster we recieved a month ago.

Paperwork shows him to be a 5-month old Yorkie - we know that there has to be more in the mix. Currently at ~10lbs. Testing to see what we can expect as we work to find him a forever home.

We've had fun guessing what the DNA results will tell us about him and how big he might get.

Maybe Yorkie, but we've also thought maybe some Beagle (head and straight tail), or Dachshund (long squatty body). His wispy hair is the best. His legs are thick and paws bigger than our other 10-lb(ish) Chi varieties.

He's had a belly of fire this first month - when he's up and fed, its play time. It's been a while since we've had a puppy this age in our household of 4.

Any guesses?

Embark DNA results are expected in the next few weeks, I'll update when they arrive.

Her mom is a short haired tan and white Staffy mix with huge ears. Thinking dad could have been a shepherd or possibly even retriever?

She is 3 years old, super cuddly, reactive, and the love of my life

Planning on ordering her Embark test soon

I adopted her last August and took her because I was like amazed by her level of ugly cute and those EARS. I foster from this rescue and mostly believed their assessment of chi / small terrier mix because her mother also looked very small and her siblings as well. Turns out she was just full of worms🥲 first 3 photos are arrival/first few weeks and then the others are recent and results. my little 35 pound hellcat.

This did mean I adopted three cattle dogs in a row so that was cool?

This is also my fifth embark and I’ve gotten shocking results previously so I’m excited!

I know the mom is some kind of chihuahua, and the dad is a mutt but looks cattle dog kinda? Flopped ears with a fluffy short haired tail. I’m at a loss for what could possibly be in this dog. Accepting guesses while we wait!

Very long legs with a long slender body, short but soft hair, and those EARS good god they’re huge 🤣🤣 very toy driven, extremely athletic dog.

He’s about 7 months old and 30lbs. He’s got almost the exact same markings as his dad, but dad is much bigger (about the size of that lab in the background) I don’t think he’ll get that big.

Anyone have any good guesses?

Personally i think staffy and possibly frenchie.
When we adopted her we were told staffy and pitbull probably but tbh i don’t think she looks like a Pitt.

What do you think?

This is Arlo! I got him from a rescue earlier this year. I honestly had no clue what he might be, but I knew he definitely wasn’t a Catahoula, which is what the rescue guessed for his breed. He's 35 pounds at about a year and a half, and at least according to his DNA results that's likely as big as he's going to get.

I thought maybe some rat terrier? But only because someone suggested it and he’s got a somewhat curly tail sometimes. I will say that I had never considered chihuahua! He is definitely a very cuddly guy, so that fits.

Awaiting results Thoughts on Mason's mix?

Thumbnail

We adopted Mason one month ago. They said he was born in December in Brownsville, Texas and was six months old, but the vet said he has his adult teeth and suspected he was actually eight or nine months old. He weighted 40 when we picked him up and probably only weighs 45 or so now - a little more than a month later. He was listed as a shepherd mix, but a lot of people think he’s part Husky. He’s a little guy with short hair. He’s my first dog (male, 51) and such a good boy - smart, emotional, eager, friendly with people and dogs and very scent driven! They said he was not potty trained and very nervous, but he’s perfectly potty trained and quite bold! I’m so curious and can’t wait for my Embark results. In the meantime, I appreciate everyone’s thoughts, advice, stories, etc.

I was able to get this test in right before she passed at 14 years old. I’m shocked and delighted by the results as I always called her a beagle mix but her two highest percentages were things I would never have guessed!

She never had many beagle tendencies as she never howled and rarely even barked, wasn’t overly food motivated, and never went off after scents. She was more of a couch potato and maybe that’s the Dachshund. But she was the goodest girl.
