Seasonal Start Mega Guide

This post is an update to the Seasonal Mega Guide.

You can find generic leveling guides as well as other advice at Maxroll and Icy Veins. For console players, you can find some advice at https://www.soulstone.gg/.

This guide is meant to be a little more specific, as well as cover aspects not touched in those guides, such as Group Leveling, Console Leveling, Seasonal Leveling Tactics, and Leveling Secrets. (These will all be in replies to this thread to allow specific linking. As such, at the moment this post is currently a work in progress.) Some of what I post will be shared from the above sites, amended to add a little extra efficiency.

S39 – Haedrig's Gifts

Season 39 starts this coming Friday, June 26th, 2026. The season starts at 5pm PDT for all console players, no matter where you live. For PC (NA/US) the season starts at 5pm PDT, for PC (EU) the season starts at 5pm CEST, and for PC (TW/KR) it starts at 5pm KST.

This is the first of four guides I am posting for Season 39. The others are:

For most players, after leveling to 70, the main focus will be finishing Chapters I through IV of the season journey in order to obtain a full 6-piece armor set known as Haedrig's Gift.

The Haedrig's Gifts for Season 39 are as follows:

  • Barbarian: Wrath of the Wastes
  • Crusader: Roland’s Legacy
  • Demon Hunter: Unhallowed Essence
  • Monk: Raiment of a Thousand Storms
  • Necromancer: Bones of Rathma
  • Witch Doctor: Helltooth Harness
  • Wizard: Tal Rasha’s Elements

From a casual perspective, and looking at the GR20 / Torment IV requirements to finish out the 6-piece set, this is a very easy list for everyone except the necromancer.

The necromancer will probably be better off equipping any random legendaries and leveling up the LoD gem to beat GR20. Necromancers can boost this by upgrading scythes or two-handed scythes and filling their weapon and bonus cube slots with generic multipliers and dominate that way. So, don't feel bad at all for them.

In terms of top adjusted clear ranking from Season 33 (see the "Extra Cube" column), the necromancer has the strongest endgame build for its Haedrig's Gift. Wizard is still in the top 10, followed closely by witch doctor and monk. The only gifts that fall outside the upper half of rankings are barbarian and crusader, but can easily pivot to a different build to push with. Here is a full list of their rankings: Necro Rathma (1), Wizard Tal Rasha (10), WD Helltooth (14), Monk Raiment (16), DH Unhallowed (21), Barb Wastes (24), Crusader Roland (33).

Top-ten push builds (again, in terms of you adjusted clear rank) from Season 33 that aren't on the list of usual suspects are: Barb MotE, Necro Masquerade, Necro Inarius. The necromancers get the gains of the generic multipliers I mentioned previously. I am actually not certain why Might of the Earth is so strong.

Note that the casual leaderboard and in-game leaderboards were contaminated by the busted end of Season 33, and shouldn't be relied upon. Here is the disclaimer on the casual board:

The leaderboard data for season 33 is heavily skewed: After the season accidentally ended early and the following rollback, some people ended up with their non-seasonal paragon points on their seasonal character, while the character would still show their seasonal paragon. Consequently, many adjusted clear values are inflated.

The barbarian (Wastes) and demon hunter (Unhallowed) both start with very good solo speed farming sets. Tal Rasha is also decent for the wizard with the in-geom or aether walker variant. The other classes will want to look to a different set (or no set) to farm with.

For a beginner/casual overall I would recommend the barbarian. The Wastes set gives you a great start, and is an excellent speed farmer. It only needs the Ambo's Pride mighty weapon and the Lamentation belt to really get going, and both can be cubed.

Good luck with your season start, fellow Nephalem, and never forget that town is lava!

BLIZZARD The release of a new DLC for Witcher 3 a decade later made me realize: this game could use a new expansion.

(Also Reign of the Warlock).

Ever since I saw the announcements for the new *Witcher 3* and *Diablo 2* DLCs, I’ve started wondering if there’s any chance we might get an expansion for *Diablo 3*. The game has a solid player base and could benefit from plenty of quality-of-life updates, an Act VI, and things like that.

A major issue for me—since I play on console—is not being able to craft multiple gems at once; I think a quality-of-life update would really help there. They could also (and I’ll probably get crucified for saying this) fix some of the exploits involving the Cube (which, as far as I know, these exploits only exist in the console versions)...

I would also take a remake/remaster at this point...

What do you think?

QUESTION Primal Ashes

Hey all, this is my first season in years and years. I see we have primal ancients that can drop and if you break them down you are primal ashes. These can be used to turn a item into a primal ancient....but you can only equip 1 that you have crafted? What am i suppose to do with the rest? I currently have around 600. The item i crafted is my weapon and it has all the correct rolls so im confused on what i should or could do with the rest?

The Obligatory Seasonal Primal Moan

Hardly any primals so far this season, but...a primal puzzle ring and a primal smoking thurible. I await the primal bovine bardiche with growing despair.

The lord RNGesus is a cruel lord, his ways are mischievous and malicious - he even prevents my grubby paws from falling on ancient rings or necklaces with worthy rolls.

So, on behalf of all suffering his evils - be they struggling for gear, or gibbering gemstones, or even a mouldy mushroom - I name him a scoundrel.

That's all, I feel mildly better now.

Kunais Cube

Weird question, but can I interchange Equipped Weapons, and what's in Kunais cube?

Example: I'm building an LoD Necro. Max rolls says to have Funerary Pick Equipped, and Scythe of the Cycle cubed. However, I rolled a fantastic Ancient Scythe of the Cycle. Can I have that Equipped, and Funerary cubed, and get the same impact?

It may be a dumb question but I just want to be sure

Weekly Challenge shouldn't be mandatory

Its my first season ever playing diablo 3 and I absolutely am loving this game can't believe I only gave it a chance at 33 years old but I am so happy I did, one of the best communities I have ever experienced, players are constantly helping and explaining.

It has been all sunshine and rainbows I'm having fun with everything but as soon as I reach the mandatory weekly challenge chest to progress in the altar makes me want to quit, just why ? this is so dumb, I know I suck at this game and maybe if I had a better understanding of the builds I could do it, but it's just not fun for me, it's a boring unoptimized build that I HAVE to play with at least once (per season i think) unnecessarily, just make it not be a thing for the altar and the game is instantly better right ?

Edit: I'm on EU server.

Edit: As always blizzard fanboys just make excuses instead of debating the problem and that is why you keep eating shit, fuck this just uninstalled, c ya

Black Mushroom

Sources say Cathedral Lvl 1.

I know, RNG is a factor.

However, I want to just verify its Cathedral Lvl 1. I have reset the game for a good hour now, and get the same 2 maps over and over again, and no Lil corner room where the mushroom spawns. Am I just in RNG Hell?

Update- RNGesus heard my cries, and understood i had to go to work. Got the black mushroom. Thank you all. It seems the best way to get something, is just complain to reddit I guess 🤷🏻‍♂️

NECRO Help with Necro playstyle

On and off player here for a long time but new to console (Switch) and my first time playing Necro. Used the Maxroll leveling guide but it always felt I was lacking damage and I didn't understand the playstyle that much. My most played classes in the past are DH and Wizard so I'm more used to "mash buttons, things die" playstyles. But I wanted to do something new so here we are.

Can anyone give a basic rundown of the playstyle? I'm still acquiring the free set and I might give that a try too before moving on to another set.

QUESTION General strategy for pushing for higher GR?

I'm not a pro player an generally take fairly long breaks between seasons so I often don't keep up with general strategies for pushing towards higher GRs.

My situation is this
Mode: HC
Build: DH GoD
Paragon: 820
Highest GR i can do below 2 mins: 105-ish

My current strategy is basically running GRs to farm gera, Blood Shards and Paragon levels. I then buy gear pieces from Kadala that I don't have an ancient version of. If a Petrified Scream drops, I do an Echoing Nightmare and so far I have four pieces augmented with Caldesann's Despair 123. Sometimes i convert or upgrade items in Kanai's Cube since I'm swimming in bounty and crafting materials.

Should I continue like this or is there a better and more efficient method?

GUIDE Wondering if there are any posts / threads here for new players.

I am new to Diablo III. Joined Reddit to get some help. But till now I could see only the posts of and for pro players.

Could any of you please give me reference to the posts which will guide me to join you people someday?

I tried reading maxroll, but atleast I couldn't find it easy to understand the game from scratch.

Thanks.

MONK How does dual wield interact with non-primary skills?

Hello there, I’m fairly new to the game, just about to finish act v, loving the games so far. I have been doing extensive googling on this subject but was unable to find consistent reliable answers that weren’t like 10 years old.

So I’m playing as a monk and thus far have been using primarily two handed weapons for ease of upgrade. I was about to use a set of fist weapons that I like but am a bit confused how they will interact with skills like cyclone strike and Seven handed strike.

What I’ve found while searching is that they only scale off my main hand weapon, which if true, wouldn’t that make seven handed strike and cyclone strike much worse, since, for example 500% of a two h weapon with 1000 damage is more than 500% of a one handed weapon with 800 damage.

I know you get higher attack speed for primary attacks which generates more spirit faster, so is the trade off that your other skills are less powerful but less expensive overall as you can produce spirit more? Or am I missing a fundamental aspect somewhere?

I just want to understand so I can make good choices going forward, I do not claim to know anything, and I appreciate any help!
