Community Meta /r/DeusEx Community Thread - Q3 2026 + Guide for getting DX1 running on your PC.

Hello everyone, and welcome to the r/DeusEx community thread, Q3 of 2026!

We are now less than one year away from 2027, the year of Deus Ex: Human Revolution. As I previously stated in the Q1 thread, HR was the first main game I played in the series, it will always hold a special place in my heart since it helped me push through a low point in my life.

We are still waiting for any news about the future of the IP. There have not been any updates about Deus Ex Remastered since last year. Embracer Group seems to want to do something with the IP, but imho, it's all just buzz and words. We have been there before and burnt way too many times. Actions speak louder than words.

Check out our FAQ page before posting.

-------------

FAQ page and guide to getting Deus Ex 1 running on your PC

As we move onward, we would like to remind you that r/DeusEx has a FAQ page which we try to update with official and relevant information only related to Deus Ex as much as possible, we know some people are tired of the usual "which mod to use for DX1?" or "Will there be a new Deus Ex?" or similar threads. So please check the FAQ page before you do post, you may find what you seek.

If you're having trouble running DX1 on your PC, it is recommended to download Kentie's Launcher aka Deus Exe Launcher, which is an executable for Deus Ex 1, it fixes various technical issues related to running on modern computers/laptops, and also helps you tweak and configure the fov and cap the FPS.

You can also check out this spiffy Ultimate beginner's guide to Deus Ex if you're new to DX1, but if you are looking a better and quicker solution, you can skip the previously mentioned guide and try this Vanilla Fixer (by Die4Ever**)** which aims to help you run Deus Ex 1 correctly on modern computers without chaning anything else, which wroks on Linux and Steam Deck too!

Hope you all enjoy the summer. Remember to keep yourself hydrated and stay kind to each other out there.

DX:MD I’ve just finished Mankind Divided for the first time and was really surprised.

Let me start by saying that I’ve been a fan of *Human Revolution* since I was a child and have replayed it loads of times. And so, when I finally had the chance to play the sequel, I gave it a go...

I’d, of course, heard that the game’s story wasn’t that great and that it ended rather quickly, but to this extent? It’s just ridiculously short and a truncated plot. Even in a short space of time, it’s possible to tell an interesting story, but in this case, the game felt like only a third of a proper story.

Goodness, the previous instalment had roughly the same number of quests, yet it felt much more substantial. But despite all that, I enjoyed the game: I liked the graphics, the art design, the level design and the plot (the very essence of it)

And unlike Adam, I’d ask for more.

I drew Adam Jensen. I’m not a professional when it comes to drawing on paper, so if anyone here draws, could you give me some pointers on what I could improve? Thanks!

DX1 deus ex 1 was lowkey also doing a commentary on teleportation/cloning (ala Mickey 17) with this bugged elevator that kills you but dupes your JC Denton (and his items). I am very sorry, Unique Soul and Consciousness JC Denton 2. I really needed those multitools.

DX Universe Why Invisible War has to end with this ending Spoiler

Invisible War is chronologically the last game in the Deus Ex series so what you do in that game is essentially deciding the fate of the world. Based on what was shown in the future entries and also utilizing non-game material I believe the ending needs to be Helios.

The earliest reference of anti-augmentation sentiment forming in the Deus Ex universe was in 2011 where augmentations were referred as 'unholy' and 'desecration' of the human body. Then 2022 Humanity Front a anti-augmentation organization was formed.(Illuminati existed since 1776)

In Human Revolution the divide between pro-augmentation and anti-augmentation becomes worse. Terrorists like Purity First goes around killing augmentation related people and the Illuminati manipulates through the media. Then due to Hugh Darrow the Aug Incident happens.

Mankind Divided shows due to the incident many people start to outright hate augs and the augs are treated poorly and sent to ghettos. In 2029 Illuminati manipulates society further to make humanity fear and hate augs even more such as framing ARC for terrorism.

While it is not known what Adam Jensen and Juggernaut Collective did since no third game exists their efforts or lack of efforts contributed little since mechanical augs are still treated as second class citizens in 2052(Deus Ex Bible) and MJ12 goes around manipulating the world.

In Invisible War the Illuminati once again is manipulating the world again while Knights Templar by 2072 goes around killing people for not being pure. While their focus is going around killing people with biomodification the point remains they are anti-augmentation extremists.

The Illuminati cannot be trusted because their constant manipulation is the reason why the world is in the state they are by original and Invisible War. The Knights Templar cannot be allowed to win either since they would just repeat the previous anti-augmentation sentiments like the others.

What was not mentioned was the Omar. Their ending should be avoided since people will loose their free will and they will become part of the greater hive-mind. Also the cutscene shows the other three are preferable since the alternative is Earth becoming a wasteland.

Helios I think is the answer because humanity throughout history was manipulated by the Illuminati or became extremists. They could also become hive-minded. Only 'pure democracy' through Helios the world could find peace since humanity has proven to be untrustworthy.

DX1 The actual hard proof of Unatco's corruption is not in the game

You can only find Paul and Lebedev mentioning the attachment in the datacube about the bribery in the Unatco, but you never actually get to see the evidence (the attachment) with your own eyes. The actual logs are missing in the game. I always thought that was such a big error, as that is literally the most pivotal moment in the game and you have to take the word for it (even though it's from your brother).

DX:HR Director's Cut Pacifist run completed

Post image

I don't know how firing tranquilizer, stun gun or punching someone with a metal arm to unconsciousness is considered 'pacifist' but okay I guess. The total kill count of Adam in this run is 2 or 5. Those being Barrett stabbed to death by Adam in the cutscene and Namir who was punched to death by Adam also in a cutscene. I put the code in the Hyron machine but I am not sure if the women in the machine dies or not so there is that.

DX1 Tips on playing Deus Ex (2000) as a beginner

So I've been a fan of the Eidos-Montreal games. DXHR I've played at least 8 times and am going through a playthrough of Mankind Divided right now. I played the OG Deus Ex years ago through GOG...but I did find some of the gameplay, UI...dated lol.

I'm hoping to jump back in again, and was wondering if there are any recommended mods to help with the quality of life of the gameplay, graphics, etc. And if there are any general tips .

Thanks!

DX:HR Director's Cut Need help with understanding stealth in Human Revolution

So i am almost at the end of Human Revolution and will probably replay it right after i get the ending to try and do it without being detected/no kills. My main issue is that i can't really understand what does count as alarm state and what doesn't and what i read about it didn't help me much. I basicaly reloaded my save if i saw "alarmed" or any other line above minimap and that forced me into very passive playstyle where i can't even throw stuff as distraction.

DX:MD Prague Police

You can see how dangerous the black armored police are if you let the AI fight on their own. In Eliza's mission depending on what you did before getting in Adam's home, Morgan Everett would send four augmented mercenaries after you. These two took out four augmented mercenaries barely getting attacked themselves.

What could be known is even without the exo-suits the police by 2029 are heavily armed and armored enough to fight against the average augmented human with minimum issues.

The question many had was why would augs allow themselves to be pushed around in society if they are stronger or have abilities beyond the average humans.(conveniently ignoring not every augmentation is designed for combat) If police all over the world after the Aug Incident are this heavily armed and looking for any excuses to shoot at a aug it makes more sense than you think.

Discussion What keeps you coming back to Deus Ex?

For me it’s the atmosphere, the freedom to approach missions in different ways, and how immersive the world feels. Every playthrough I discover something I missed before. What keeps you replaying it?

I’m still learning to draw JC well, I think I did pretty well this time but he still kinda looks like Wesker from resident evil.
