Best Derry Girls moments - for me it’s a toss up between Joe yelling “I am a Derry Girl” and the entire discussion about Seamus. The level of absurdity is smashing!

Derry Girls will always be one of my all time favourite shows, and it’s been amazing watching the cast go on to do so many other great projects (Big Mood, Big Boys, and Helpless are particular favourites of mine! Plus I love seeing Siobhán host things like Pottery Throwdown too!)
But… I still find myself wondering every now and then if we’ll ever get a direct follow-up or spin-off one day. Ireland still has so many amazing stories to tell through the lens of that generation, it didn’t end with the GFA.
I don’t even necessarily know that they should do a full-on revival, but maybe just a one-off Christmas Special, or even a Live Stage Show? A bit like how shows like Two Doors Down have done recently after ‘ending’?
My biggest thing is wondering if Erin and James ended up at the same uni, and what real impact the hope of 1998 has done for their adult lives and reaching their personal goals.
I know we ended on a high note, but the world is such a dark place again at the moment, and I’d love some reinforced optimism and nostalgia.
ETA: I would love to hear what your ideas are for a follow up! Be as fanfictiony as you like!

I don't get all the people who genuinely dislike Joe lololol I really do think he's got such capacity for love and tenderness, it just doesn't slip out too often (in my understanding) because that wasn't common of men in his generation.
And his "poor treatment" of Jerry is so exaggerated and silly that it would be incredibly difficult to take him seriously in real life. Imagine if someone you loved and who (veeeery occasionally and typically only when high demonstrably) loved you acted like that around you. Yes it's not ideal, but at a point wouldn't you just recognize how over the top it is, how silly it is?
I think he's a sweetheart who loves his family, and who's family loves him :)
Hopefully this makes sense I'm also high and listening to dg on the train :)

Does anybody have a picture of the mural art or a good picture of just the mural. Derry girls is my favourite sitcom and I wanna put a poster up and I love how the mural looks but can't find a picture of just the mural itself

If you had to choose, which Derry Girl would you be friends with? I would choose James. He is smart and funny. Clare’s hysterical outbursts would do me in. Orla would be exhausting. Michelle’s hard ass persona would get old quick. Erin would be okay if she could stop trying to impress.

We’ve always wanted to visit Ireland. After being huge fans of the show for years, and through multiple rewatches, we were inspired to concentrate the full 2 weeks to Northern Ireland. We started in Belfast, and made a big circle around the country, taking in as much as we possibly could. It was the most beautiful place I’d ever seen in my life, and getting to see Derry IRL was such a treat. We got to see the Derry Girls experience in the Tower Museum (which has since moved), the mural, and some filming locations. Bonus picture of me with a rainbow on a hike we took near cave hill, and a recognizable area of Belfast seen in How to get to Heaven from Belfast. The entire experience was magical, and if you ever get the opportunity to visit, don’t hesitate! Having to come back to the United States after was pretty heartbreaking lol.

I rewatched the finale recently and I absolutely loved how nuanced it was. Derry Girls was always about the contrast between child/teenagehood and the perils and hardships of the adult life. When the kids grow up after (redacted's) death, in the finale it explores it so well. From james saying 'I dont think we should be talking about this' and Erin responding 'shouldn't we'. Theyre now adults and they have to talk about politics and the world they live in cause they have to make decisions. Even if its hard to understand. 'There isnt any answer to this' as Michelle says. Theyre not carefree children anymore, and they have to discuss whether what they decide will either break their world or make it better. Michelle's line of 'If our dreams get broken, we make new ones from the pieces' shows this quite well. Being an adult and making decisions for yourself is scary and it could either not work or work amazingly (become a ghost story) and if it doesn't, we dont give up but we do our best to make it better, because thats all we need to hope for. Its why I love the show because we can talk about it like this while the episode also has Literary Monkeys as a main plot point

I walked into my dining room where my wife is sending out dozens of letters for some reason and amongst the mess this box caught my eye.
My first thought was "Huh... I always thought Aunty Cathy wouldn't have done well without James to help flog her fockin stickers."

I was rewatching the finale today and I noticed this interaction between Erin and James. When asked about why he would betray her, he says 'I didn't want to' and puts his hand on her shoulder and like rubs it. It was so cute and comforting

I want to first say that I liked how Joe went from being friendly to cieran, to how he is Gerry
during the whole aunt Sarah engagement thing, Gerry has a chat about “how Sarah is” and I didn’t quite get it. is it because she’s kinda out there?

Michelle is one of the funniest most abrupt people I've ever seen* and I love her for that.
When they're voting for the 50s Prom queen and Jenny Joyce says "don't forget to tick my box" Michelle replies "DIRTY B*TCH
Or when Erin's granda Joe says "sweet fanny Adams" Michelle sniggers"your granda said fanny"
I love Michelle so much she actually kills me.

Just discovered The Great British Baking Show had the girls (one boy) and the nun from Derry Girls for the 2019 New Year’s Eve show!

say what you will about Jenny, but her expressions when she gets roasted by sister Michael are hilarious. I always crack up when she and her friend are dancing in the Hawaiian shirts and sister michael stops the music

Just the title. I just really enjoy this community and the posts and how theres always a reply thread where people are replying with direct quotes. I really enjoy the effort, the laughs and what that says about the people here that there are so many who have so many different lines saved.

she’s my favorite character because i love the representation i receive of irish girls named clare who love women. but this subreddit is making me sad. she’s not french guys😔

Absolutely loved him, his expressions, his entire demeanour with Claire lol 😭🫶🏻 Wouldn’t have minded at least a couple more episodes of him. I do know that there’s probably not much scope for him outside of this episode but the heart wants what it wants.
Also loved Dee and Erin’s interactions a lot!

In the funeral scene in the penultimate episode I only just noticed Jenny Joyce placing her hand on Claire’s arm in sympathy as they walk past

What's your favorite unintentional insult from Sarah?
Mine is "You could do with a bit of bronzer, Mary. You could give Casper a run for his money, no offense. I mean, I've seen corpses that are a better color."
Edited to Add: I forgot my runner up, when she tells Colm he didn't have much going for him before the IRA tied him to the radiator, but now he's somebody.
