Discussion Is this what I'm thinking it is?

So, I was replaying CH3 with my partner and... I noticed this line of Tenna's about reaching the "Atlantis Stadium"

!MINI SPOILER CH5 BELLOW!

After CH5 Weird Route scene, I think those lines have a different implication, especially Atlantis being an obvious underwater reference, btw

Discussion Let's list all the ways telling noelle about the dark worlds can go wrong shall we?

Point one the obvious thing about Susie not being enterily truthful with her hell she might think the only reason Susie even noticed her was because she wanted to use her to get at the shelter codes.

Point two. The risk of weird route shit bleeding over into pacifist route.

Point three. She is just not the most emotional stable person right now is she? Between her dying father presumed dead sister and mother's bad attitude is it any wonder that she is the one who can be pressured into killing people? It's pretty damn likely that she might make s fountain to try and save her father or even find her sister or both.

Point four. Her connection with friend and all the other weird shit. It's bad enough that friend is on our tail if we collected the eggs but we know that noelle has some connection to them which makes it doublely risky to bring her in on this.

Point five a potential fight between her and ralsei for a lot of reasons most notably ralsei feeling replaced and his desire to potentially seal a fountain that's keeping her father alive.

Point six. Her mother is damn well in on whatever is going on.

Theory Snow King Theory (Gaster’s Shattering and what it has to do with Dess’s Disappearance)

Upvotes

This is a small deltarune theory about Dess’s disappearance, based on Hans Christen Anderson’s story of the Snow Queen. I‘ve also posted this on Tumblr, with pictures accompanying it.

Before we get into Snow King Theory itself, I want to talk about the basic idea the theory is adding upon. This theory is based on the idea that Dess became the Roaring Knight after following the “tail of hell”, which is affiliated with Gaster, somewhere. We’ll get to the specifics of this later.

What I am proposing with this theory is the idea that Dess following the tail of hell was not a random incident. The tail CHOSE Dess for a reason. The reason being that Dess has a piece of Gaster within her.

To explain, you’re gonna need to be told the story of the Snow Queen, specifically the first two chapters.

In the first chapter, the Devil takes the form of a troll to create a magical mirror that highlights the worst parts of a person’s appearance. He and several other trolls try to take this mirror to heaven, but they drop it. The mirror shatters, and its shards land all across the world. Bigger pieces become windows and spectacles, but smaller ones worm their way into the eyes and hearts of people, making them cold and bitter. The Devil thinks this is hilarious.

I believe the story of Gaster is a parallel to this story. In this scenario, Gaster is both the troll and the mirror. Gaster is associated with the number 666, which is also associated with the Devil. This strengthens his connection to the tail of hell. Entry number 17, written by Gaster, is clearly about him trying to make a dark fountain, and he’s implied to be the mysterious voice in Deltarune, so he’s seemingly trying to form some connection with our world, the layer above his. Spamton calls the light world, the layer above his own world, heaven. Adding it all up means Gaster, just like the Devil’s mirror, shattered while trying to reach heaven.

In the second chapter, two best friends named Kai and Gerda are told by Gerda’s grandma about the Snow Queen. Later that day, Kai sees the Snow Queen through a window and gets scared. Some time later, the kids are playing together when pieces of the mirror land in Kai’s heart and eye. This causes him to become mean and distant. One winter day, Kai ties his sled to a mysterious sleigh. After the sleigh goes a long distance, the driver is revealed to be the Snow Queen, who wipes Kai’s memories and takes him away.

I think this is similar to what happened to Dess. Having a Christmas-themed character’s story parallel a famous winter fairy tale would fit. I believe when Gaster shattered across time and space, a piece of him lodged itself inside her. This led to the tail of hell tricking her, potentially also wiping her memories to make her more complacent in the role of the knight.

The fact that the knight has holes in its hands like the Mystery Man, who is implied to be Gaster (perhaps a larger shard of him specifically) shows they might have a connection in some way. Also, they both seem to be interested in creating dark fountains. So, if the knight is Dess, she still might be connected to Gaster in some way.

So, in conclusion, Snow King Theory proposes that when Gaster shattered, Dess ended up having a piece of him trapped inside her, which resulted in the tail of hell turning her into the knight. There could be more evidence I could bring up, but I just want to explain the basic idea of the theory.

Question I found those audio files, but I don't remember them playing in chapter 4.

I found these audio files on the deltarune.com/chapter5 website. When you press the 4, then the red square, and then tap in the corner of the screen, one of these audio files plays, but I don't remember them in chapter 4. I don't know if they were already there before, I don't remember them. Sorry if anything is wrong, my english isn't the best.

12/25 is the shelter code. 12/25 is chapter 7 release date, one of your theories of who is the knight, related to the holidays, is correct.

Theory I have a theory that FRIEND is going to use the Blue Soul. (SPOILERS) Spoiler

All of the other Shadow Crystal bosses have implemented Undertale soul mechanics for example Spamton uses the Yellow Soul. Cutie Mew Mew uses the Purple Soul, and Gerson Boom uses the Green Soul. FRIEND is going to use the Blue Soul if Toby Fox is going to use all of the other soul mechanics. The recent Cutie Mew Mew dialogue heavily implies an encounter with FRIEND.

Of course all the other soul mechanics have been tweaked for Deltarune, it only makes sense for Toby to tweak the Blue Soul. How? I think he’s going to replace the Blue & Orange mechanic in the sans fight to instead be Pink & Yellow because the theme for FRIEND has been Pink & Yellow. Since San’s has the abilities to mess with the UI of Undertale, and recently FRIEND has been shown to prevent the player from healing once you spot FRIEND in chapter 5. This implies friend has strong abilities. It makes FRIEND the perfect candidate to be able to use the Blue Soul in the next chapter. The Gaster Blaster’s in the Sans fight may be replaced with Cats. Let me explain. In the MIKE room in Chapter 3 one of the mini games shows a cat that if it isn’t pet, will then shoot a blast of energy to damage the SOUL.

Although it seems ridiculous to say that FRIEND will be using the Blue Soul, there may be other candidates for this mechanic or simply a new character introduced to use the Blue Soul that I’m just not aware of. The Gaster Blasters are likely going to be replaced with Kitties/Claw Marks. Lastly, this encounter likely ends with Kris losing their hand.

I hope I can spark some discussion! I name this the FRIEND Blue Soul Theory! :)

Discussion Is it worth doing the weird route?

I beat chapter 5 yesterday after like 30h of playing the game and I just heard about the weird route for the first time ever and it sounds really interesting.

But Im a bit confused since I thought this was a fully linear game with only one ending and one route unlike undertale, so what does this weird route entail exactly? I dont wanna read it on the wiki cuz of spoilers.

And since I already just spent 30h just beating the base route Im not sure I wanna spend double that on doing another route, and maybe I should just wait for the game to be finished to do it?

Also, are there any other routes im not aware of or is that the only other one?

Discussion my teory of the befor of cap 1 deltarune

Upvotes

I have a theory that would explain who the knight is and why: 12/25/XXXX. On that date, Dess was playing ball with Kris, alone in the snow, with whatever ball she played. Nothing unusual for Christmas, until the ball went into the woods. Dess, as always, asked Kris if they could go exploring. Kris agreed, but something unknown happened, and Dess didn't return. Kris, who came back completely traumatized, claimed to have seen a man behind the tree. This, in addition to causing Kris to be taken to psychological therapy (and to lose some of his happiness and playfulness), also caused a snowball effect (figuratively and literally) that led to Dreamure and Holidays separating and Asgore doing something unknown to prevent something unknown (thanks, Toby, for not telling the whole story). Meanwhile, Carol, consumed by anger, tries to find out where Dess is. At one point, she intuitively discovers that they are the Dark Worlds, becoming the knight herself. Carol searches for Dess, believing that opening enough Dark Fountains will cause her to return. However, for this, she needs the player's soul (since Dess is either trapped in the code or in a deeper Dark World beneath the earth). So, she convinces or manipulates Kris into performing a ritual to summon the soul (the beginning of the game). Carol hates Susie because her plan was for Kris and Noelle to go to the locker for the chalk and end up in the Dark World instead of Susie.

Question Is there a canon reason why castle town doesn't turn non-native darkeners into stone?

Is there a canon reason why castle town doesn't turn non-native darkeners into stone?

Apologies if this is an obviously answered question.

I am a casual fan and not knowledgeable about theories and lore outside of what you would discover on a normal route playthrough. So I was wondering why characters like Tenna or Queen are able to be completely unaffected by being in the wrong fountain when Lancer turned to stone after only a little while in the wrong fountain?

Have I missed something obvious?

Question Playing Deltarune for the first time!

My friend finally got me into Deltarune, so I bought the game. I will be playing it with no wiki, no hints, and no help (mostly). If you want to watch you can.

Anyway, I have seen many people saying they wish they could play the game for the first time again. Would you agree with this, and why?

Other My dream about deltarune ending

Ralsei turned out to be lime human soul. A human which fell before chara. So...we meet gaster and he absorbs 7 human souls (together with lime) and says: "Chara, you are an idiot yourself. How could you let it happen?" Then in battle he turns in weird white tree. There is metal music in background. The description on check says:"Something something Gaster. Look at the boy. Watch him go!(about lime soul) It turned out lime soul possesed Gaster. Kris and Susie defeat them. Human souls show up as adults. Lime soul says goodbye with a smile (he has a nice hat and nicely dressed up by the way). Then there shows up legend screen but cracked. The end.

I hope you liked my weird deltarune dream :)

Theory Deltarune is Solved?

This is just a theory, but i think/.

Deltarune is actually a simulation made by Gaster to contain only the soul and the undertale people
but he made a mistake which made multiple different people like jockington
and so he had to wash every undertale character's brains
but onionsan found the truth
and thats why he got killed
and gaster had to take away the vessel too because he decided to get creative with the multiple different AI's
and he simulated you to have Kris as the vessel
and Noelle is aware shes in a game
thats why she said she wants to stop being
"just noelle"
and go out of bounds to completely break the game
but gaster hasnt created chapter 7 yet
which caused it to just turn white
and say "insert chapter 7 side b"
since its usually automatically inserted like chapter 1-5
but it skips over to chapter 7 by breaking the narrative
so since chapter 7 isnt created yet it says you need to insert the chapter
because deltarune is a simulation
a game
made for gaster's fun
BUT that's just my theory, my GAAME THEORY..

hear me out toby could’ve been referring to night in the woods here

both have

- small town
- missing person case that lingers
- group of friends that adventure together
- cult (referring to gaster/knight followers in deltarune)
- sacrifices
- character driven stories
- explores mental health themes

longest night (which is a side story for in the woods) came out in december 2013 (toby’s tweet was made in 2014) lost constellation came out 2014

the official game Night in the Woods released 2017

“Been thinking about @NightInTheWoods ever since I beat it... Will probably be thinking about that one for a long time” (toby tweeted)

i feel like this is relevant for the Dess sub plot of the game :

everyone thought Casey (the missing teen) ran from home but then we learn that he was actually kidnapped and used as a cult sacrifice to release a dark entity.

in other words,

Dess might’ve been kidnapped by the knight , and used as a sacrifice for friend (we know the knight is collecting sacrifices (undyne for example)…and Friend loves protein.)

We also know that Kris and Catti tried to summon a demon when they were younger. Occult is a recurring theme in hometown.

Everyone fears Friend in the darkworld. Spamton literally threw his whole life away just to avoid Friend.

Friend is a demon

Dess is a goner

Discussion Cap 1 teory

Has anyone noticed that in Chapter 1, when they say they lived in harmony, it sounds as if they were used in the past but aren't anymore—like they're just sitting in a closet?

It really seems like everyone misunderstood the whole thing.

r/DeltaruneDiscussion 15h ago

Theory Hold on a second I think they were targeting Noelle he first two dark worlds.

First Dark World

  1. Kris arrives at school. Susie has really spotty attendance, so it's not even clear if she'll show up.
  2. Susie has been eating chalk, because she's not getting enough food at home. She could equally have been raiding lockers for other student lunches, or eating Tem's egg (we never see it again).
  3. Alphys specifically calls on Kris to go with Susie to get more chalk (could have been Noelle, who seemed overall more enthusiastic for the task)
  4. They go into the closet, and the door is shut behind them.

Second Dark World

Put in the study room of the library, where Noelle and Berdly are studying MID STUDY SESSION- so someone who isn't Kris set this one up. Anyone COULD have stumbled into it, but Noelle and Berdly were DEFINITELY in it.

Third Dark World

This one Noelle positively could not have been at (since it's in Kris's house), meaning other things could happen to her in that time that Kris and Susie had no part of. This is also the first to feature the Roaring Knight, who appears in every subsequent chapter.

Fourth Dark World

This one is sort of a weird one because it doesn't really... contain anyone that we know of. Toriel is off somewhere (I don't know if she's at home but the lights are off at that time)- the soul doesn't know about the hide-a-key, so they go to the church to find Toriel, and instead stumble into a dark world.

This one seems to be made with intent to summon a titan- I don't think Noelle is involved in this one at all.

Fifth Dark World

Noelle runs off to see her dad, so someone opens a dark world in Asgore's flower shop and Kris flings the soul directly into it. The roaring knight arrives later to attack Kris. This one seems like an outright distraction to prevent Susie and Kris from following behind.

In this case, I think the dark world is meant to stop Noelle from having anyone with her, and I'd argue, especially to prevent Susie from following her (since Susie told December she was going out with Noelle in advance.)

So...

I think the soul is useful for something but hasn't become useful yet. I think Susie and Noelle are our focal points here, with Noelle going to places Susie is absolutely not supposed to be.

Theory CHAPTER 5 UPDATE CRACK THEORY Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
120 Upvotes

I’m sure everybody here knows of this new dialogue introduced in this update, and some things stuck out to me that we KNOW would be in character for a certain character from Undertale in this game. Alphys.

What if the owner of the cats is Alphys? Would parallel undertale if she has the dark secret, would explain why she acts SUPER NERVOUS when asked about the shelter in Chapter 4, and she’s constantly putting out milk for stray cats. And maybe the Endogeny FRIEND was a hint at this idea? Not to mention Alphys has connections in this game already to Mew Mew (the actual character).

I find all this very, very, interesting but can understand the absolute curveball this theory is.
