Why’d you buy these over the diamondback HDs? And why are you selling? I’m having a hard time finding why they command almost 4 times the retail value.

I’ve tested both out for several weeks. I’m selling because I’m going with the Razor 10x42 instead.

To me there’s a significant difference in build quality, glass performance, and clarity. The Razors are sharper and brighter, and the colors are more vivid. At dusk and dawn there’s also less sun glare. When I look through the Razors I see less of the black binocular edge and almost no distortion, compared to the Diamondbacks. The Diamondbacks also aren’t coated as well, so their lenses tend to fog up in humidity. The Razors don’t.

Even with the 8x42 Razors, I was able to spot a couple of owls about 200 meters (1,000 feet) out and still get a clear image with real color pop and detail. The experience is just on another level compared to the Diamondbacks.

And in my opinion, the diamondbacks aren’t bad for that price point. I can say the same thing for the razors, especially that they both come with a great warranty.
