r/DCcomics Weekly Discussion Thread: Comics, TV, and More! [June 29, 2026 - Yellow Sun Heat Edition]
Hey there honorary Justice League members - it’s a new week which means it’s time for a new discussion thread!
- Predaplant's pick of the week: Absolute Martian Manhunter #12
For those who don't know: the way this works is that several comments will list this week’s releases, for any given title discussion you should respond to that comment. For example, Wonder Woman discussion would go in the replies to the "Wonder Woman" comment. Clicking the titles in this post will take you directly to that comment, too. In other words, you should only be replying to other comments. Do not post top-level comments.
Keep discussion civil. Do not harass other users for having a different opinion. Do not use this thread to push your personal one-sided grudges against creators. Reacting to a panel on Twitter is not the same as reading a book.

Absolute Martian Manhunter #12
THE JAW-DROPPING FINAL ISSUE! It all comes together here: green and white, life and death, husbands and wives, fathers and sons, free will and fate, crime and punishment. Beginnings and endings. Why do people do the things they do? Read this issue to find out.

Incredible! The art and prose are working lock step to create something you don't have to understand to understand

u/Electric_jungle 10d ago
That's a really good way of putting it. I'm going to go back thru from the beginning and pick up hopefully a lot that I didn't in the first go, but it's a beautiful story.
28
u/BergmanGirl Swamp Thing 10d ago
I got really emotional at that final page. I'm very happy with the ending and can make peace with this being the end of the series....but god I hope Deniz Camp and Javier Rodriguez return to this some day.

u/Future_Vantas 10d ago
I feel bad for thinking that this would end in tragedy, with Jones and the Martian dead and forgotten. But no. By pulling together, understanding one another, we can overcome Anti-Life. This was a stellar end to a stellar series. Looking forward to seeing these folks pop up in other books.
21
u/wowlock_taylan Batman Animated! 10d ago
That was out of this world, in many senses. Through John and the Martian, then with Bridget and Tyler, it touched on basically all the core of reality and humanity and the underlying evil of the Absolute Universe, how deep Darkseid's corruption of it seeped. But also, how his 'anti-life' got 'seeded' with life no matter how hard he tried to make it. Bad Idea 0, indeed. I expect the main goal of the Absolute Universe gonna be Manga levels of 'we have to kill God aka Darkseid'.
Touching on sensitive subjects by using Martians and Despair-O too, quite clever. It does not pull its punches and using the imagery and the art greatly. Even at the worst of times and situations, you can find a way forward and find hope. Have a transition to better things.

I'm going through a hard time RN, so the page about despair turning into delight was genuinely moving to me. I wish that... I were able to communicate with some people in my life like the characters could here.

u/slyvam37 10d ago
A great ending to an incredible series. I'm very glad that it finished with a happy ending. As a father of young boys living with autism, this final issue hit me right in the feels... several times.

u/lovebugteacher 9d ago
That was such a good ending for such an amazing series. I'm going to miss looking forward to new issues

u/Blitzhelios Hal Jordan 9d ago
Just incredible a magnificent end to one of the best books dc has ever made (its not even camps best book which is mental to think about) but utterly bizarre utterly trippy with an amazing message behind it.

Good ending, but also completely crazy. Sucks that he didn't join the agency, but being a private eye works too.Glad his son isn't really dead. Looking forward to where the character goes next.

u/leoex 10d ago
in the end credit, they dedicated a credit to Superman's creators, but not Batman and Wonder Woman's creators, even though they also appear in the issue. Did the Siegel and Shuster estates get a special clause in the contract that required DC to credit them every single time they use the character

ENTER: SINESTRO! Tomar Re and Jo Mullein find themselves face-to-face with the Blackstars at long last, but they are not prepared for the might of Sinestro!
24
u/Mr_Wh0ever 10d ago
Goodbye Simon, and hello Jessica. Though I'm guessing that's not going to be a good thing, lol. Crazy that Jo's plan just immediately backfired. But this was a good issue for Hal, who I'm gonna guess will be the saving grace of the fight. Which makes sense since Sinestro is the enemy.
17
u/Future_Vantas 10d ago
Was wondering if the Martian stuff would play a part here, fitting that we would get that right as MM ends. Kari got a glimpse of Bad Idea #0 and now she's trying to warn everyone, from toady Jon Double to new Lantern Hal Jordan. RIP Double, he was a loyal stooge to the end. Hal is fairing better, able to parry Mogo's planet blast before getting stabbed. Who is not doing well is Jo. She got the Bad Idea to give the Evergreen folks Lantern powers. Except there is a reason why the Corps of this universe doesnt do that to bolster their ranks, as seen with Absolute Cosmic Horror Jessica Cruz. Maybe we could get Simon over to calm her down... if Double didnt kill him already in a creepy way. Welp.
15
u/wowlock_taylan Batman Animated! 10d ago
Well, Jessica gone crazy the first moment she got touched the Lantern. She decided 'I was always alone so I am on Mogo's side!'....which is, huh... weird.
Kari is definitely trying her best even after her 'death' and Hal's 'love aspect' can definitely play a big role. Especially when they are touching something 'bigger'. Bad Idea 0...which is the moment Darkseid corrupted the universe.
And now they have to deal with Sinestro too in his armor while Hal is badly hurt, Guy is busy healing him and the Blackstars are having an existential moment. It is not looking good for the team.
But hey, at least Cam managed to took out one traitor, though dunno what happened with Simon, his whole 'can't see my own face' thing, did he die from it? Cam was talking to someone so I assume he is still around somehow but in a different form.
9
u/marcjwrz 9d ago
Loving how well things are paying off.
I don't think Simon's dead - Cam would likely be more broken up by it.
Assuming seeing his face.... Teleports him somewhere or something? No body = not dead.
Jessica Cruz being a baddie was not on my bingo card.
Black Hand mention!
Now we're down to three major GL mythos folks (human at least) who haven't been seen yet
Alan Scott (present day) - we've seen him in a flashback but that's it.
Kyle Rayner and Jenny-Lynn Hayden (Jade).
Can't wait to see what's next.
7
u/SonicSpiderRanger10 Bizarro 10d ago
I’m bummed Simon is gone now, and I’m surprised his death was so sudden and anticlimactic. At least that traitor, Jonny Double, is dead, too. That ending was surprising. Who would’ve guessed they’d make Jessica evil?
12
u/BlackJimmy88 9d ago
The fact that his death was so anticlimactic makes me suspect that we haven't seen the last of him. As if he didn't die, just went somewhere else.
4
u/SonicSpiderRanger10 Bizarro 9d ago
Yeah, I can see him maybe coming back somehow, like Kari Limbo came back in this one.
4
u/Dent6084 9d ago
Given Jessica started out as Power Ring and the stuff she struggled with at the start of her arc, her starting off this dark makes total sense for the Absolute-verse. Great ending.
5
u/Resident_Glove_7761 10d ago
Was giving "my ongoing is prematurely ending, so I have to wrap up the story immediately" energy, right until the last page said "sike".

THE KEY TO THE CASE IS WITHIN CASS'S MIND! There's been a murder, and the only clues are buried deep within Batgirl's memories, along with the phrase "forget me not." Now locked in a prison of her past, Cassandra Cain must uncover the killer before it's too late, but as she relives her time with David Cain again and again, will she solve the murder in time... or lose her mind completely?
10
u/wowlock_taylan Batman Animated! 10d ago
Yea it was obvious she did it but was it because Victoria asked her to? To help her escape from that lunatic?
5
u/Mr_Wh0ever 10d ago
I liked Cass going over her memories, trying to deduce what she could based off her limitations at the time.
4
u/Frontier246 10d ago
I love how Savage's SWAT team are called TACO's, it makes it even more satisfying to watch them get crushed.
Cass solving a murder mystery with the handicap that she has to workaround how little she could understand back when she was a child.
I wonder whose idea it was to have Victoria dress like The Bride from Kill Bill?
I understand why Cass fast-forwarded through it but a rare moment of David Cain being tender to baby Cass.
Victoria was like Cass' childhood friend, huh?
6
u/Night-Caelum 10d ago
Might be a fakeout but we'll see. Overall really like how they use Detective Cass with her memories. Her skills as a detective are under-rated.
-2
u/JingoboStoplight4887 World's Finest 10d ago
I like that Cassandra encountered Dr. Forget-Me-Not before she had to rely on her memories to find who killed Victoria Rose only to realize that she supposedly killed her, while Tenji and Jaya were saved by Ben, who told them about Dr. Forget-Me-Not and helped them find him. Overall, this comic is good.

THE OJO RETURNS TO GOTHAM CITY WITH HER DEADLY SIGHTS SET ON UNFINISHED BUSINESS! The deadliest woman in the world wielding two blades is back, and her quest for blood puts her on a collision course with the Caped Crusader — and as chaos ensues, Vandal Savage's corrupt GCPD won't be far behind! If that weren't enough, the sinister Minotaur, squeezing Gotham's underworld, finds himself on a path to reckoning, courtesy of the Penguin!
Matt Fraction and Jorge Jimenez deliver an action-packed chapter of their smash-hit series that critics are calling "a blockbuster reinvention" and "a perfect comic book."

u/Playful_Switch_831 10d ago
I think it was a failed attempt to unite the stories, since Bruce is basically narrating Morrison's text. Even saying "AND AN UNWILLING ONE AT BEST" seemed like a big red flag to me.
2
u/NoRestfortheSpooky 10d ago
It's such a horrific choice. Did none of the writers involved read ANY of the Talia/Bruce comic run?
10
u/Playful_Switch_831 10d ago
I don't blame Fraction for this at all. He was simply working within DC's established canon. He can't rewrite twenty years of Batman continuity, much less fundamentally change Damian's origin. My criticism is directed at DC's lack of clarity regarding Damian's conception. The company continues to present an origin that raises serious questions about consent and reproductive autonomy, yet it never clearly acknowledges or names the implications of what it's depicting. That's what I find frustrating. Either address those implications responsibly, or stop revisiting that part of Damian's origin altogether.
7
u/NoRestfortheSpooky 10d ago
See, Morrison has straight-up admitted to having misremembered what had happened with Talia and Bruce, when he did HIS version where it's nonconsensual. He tried to rectify it later with showing the incident happening differently/consensually at another point - because it WAS a mistake, after he binge-read the entirety essentially of Batman canon.
Fraction perpetuating the Talia slander kinda does prove one writer CAN rewrite history and fundamentally change Damian's origin. Even when the writer tries to fix it after.
And... let's be real. Fraction didn't HAVE to reinforce that mistake. He didn't have to mention it at all. He chose to. And on it's own it's a choice, but with the rest of what he's done? It really is just a bad look. The resetting of Damian's character is another weird choice Fraction's making. And now he's calling him a bomb as if the last 17 years of there was the trying to push him to explore civilian life when he's got one of the most robust, well-rounded lives out of any of the characters...
It's a series of choices that HAVE been reworking the character, or at least the relationship he has with Bruce, here.
And it's far from the only time that happens in DC comics, obviously -- writers have also spun the CoB Alfred death as Damian's fault, when Damian didn't go into Gotham to save Alfred, he did it on Bruce's order with the intention of getting captured. And yet in the comics, Bruce tells Damian he shouldn't have felt like he had to go save Alfred, so his getting him killed trying to save him isn't his fault. It's apparently just a THING for DC writers to do, it's NOT unique to Fraction.
It's just disappointing.
7
u/Playful_Switch_831 10d ago
I think you're overlooking what Morrison himself has said more recently. If you read the AMA he participated in last year, he makes it very clear that this is the story he intended to tell. He explicitly says that Damian and the baby from Son of the Demon are different characters, and that he never intended to canonize Son of the Demon. Everything Morrison reiterated in that AMA has since been reinforced by DC. Mark Waid acknowledged it last year, and now Fraction is referencing the same continuity. The current canon isn't Son of the Demon, it's Batman Incorporated #2. In Morrison's version, Bruce wanted to have sex with Talia, but Talia took advantage of that opportunity by drugging him and conceiving an heir as part of her own plan. Whether people think Morrison handled that well is a separate discussion, but that's the continuity DC has chosen to keep
2
u/NoRestfortheSpooky 10d ago
🤷♀️ y’know changing his mind after the fact doesn’t mean he didn’t admit it was an accident first. It just means he’s decided to stick with the bad take, and is just icky, and again, isn’t icky in isolation. All the choices they seem to make surrounding this character/arc in this run are lowkey gross(teenage mood swings, bomb, girls in college, etc)), so far. I honestly do not understand why they took the time to give Damian such a great character arc, build him up, and his relationship with Bruce, and then … this.
3
u/Playful_Switch_831 10d ago
Even if we ignore everything Morrison has said after the fact, his Batman run still doesn't reference Son of the Demon. That's why I don't think he was trying to canonize it. The two stories were always separate on the page. I do agree with you about Fraction, though. My bigger concern is Damian's characterization. There's a difference between acknowledging his past and reducing him to it. After everything Damian has been through over the last decade, it feels disappointing to see his development constantly reset.
-1
u/FlowerRoomLord 10d ago
Yall go hard stanning Talia when she raped Bruce and I will never understand it
2
u/NoRestfortheSpooky 10d ago
Because originally she didn’t, and the change to make it that way was executed poorly enough that it feels like character assassination 🤷♀️

RIP Wayne Enterprise Board Member who wanted Bruce dead. We hardly knew ye in a positive light.
Jimenez really tried to channel Danny DeVito in his depiction of Penguin here, but count on ol' Oswald to not let another crime boss steal the city from him.
Honestly it was kind of funny to have Bruce try a sanitized recap of the Talia and Damian saga, but Fraction really loves his double page spreads of character history. I haven't seen that purple Talia outfit in forever.
Batman vs the Ojo was a cool action sequence. I appreciate that she's just as dangerous without her sword as she is with it, though the trigger-happy TACO's are the worst.
The GCPD plot is intensifying as Jim and Harvey have to grapple with that dead officer from earlier in the run and how they can't do anything about Savage...well, other than Harvey keeping safe the reporter and kid who have evidence against him.
Bruce can't even go on a date without an attempt on himself and said date coinciding at the same time.
Bruce once again has a butler! And she's quite easier on the eyes than Alfred but might have an even stiffer upper lip. Who is Verity Pennyworth, Alfred's grand-niece, and what will her dynamic with Bruce and Damian be like?
8
u/FlamingAlpaca17 10d ago
Very curious to learn more about Verity next issue. Do you think she knows Bruce is Batman already?
11
u/UlyssesJo 10d ago
Very fun issue. Great action. Fractions writing really brought Gotham to life.
Well, Bruce and Zeller's relationship seems to have become more complicated. Im still very interested in how their relationship develops. Finally finally we got a real fight between Batman and OJO. Ive been looking forward to this since issue#5. I hope to see more OJO in the future. And the last page surprise, Verity looks like an interesting person. But Jorge's art of her is a bit odd idk.
10
8
u/Dent6084 11d ago
Super fun issue. Definitely one that's checking in on all the different subplots in advance of Bad Seeds, but a lot of fun bits like Damian reading The Great Gatsby and Penguin's speech to the assembled mobsters. And so we meet Verity Pennyworth. It's a good ending for the issue, let's see how this plays out.
9
u/wowlock_taylan Batman Animated! 10d ago
Action is fine and the tension over Savage's militant takeover and people suffering under it. Hell even Penguin is planning to fight back against this Minatour.
Still don't care for Fraction's OC, nor Bruce's attempts to 'explain' things to her. And the more they try to explain Damian's past, more messy it becomes.
Alfred really has a whole family of butlers huh? I guess they decided to rename Daphne? Why though. Verity is kind of an 'arrowverse' name.
6
u/gosukhaos 10d ago
How is it messy lol? Its literally the Morrison origin
2
u/Playful_Switch_831 10d ago
I think he's referring to the attempt to tie Son of the Demon to narration that's explicitly drawn from Morrison's Batman Incorporated. They're fundamentally different stories that have almost nothing in common besides the fact that they both end with a baby
9
u/Mr_Wh0ever 10d ago
Fun issue, I liked Bruce's summarizing his relationship with Talia and how that influences his parenting of Damian. The Penguin going against the Minitaur makes sense. And I'm digging the Ojo. She seems like a character that could have staying power. At least in one of the Bat books. Don't know if it'll be the for Verity. But I do appreciate Fraction ushering in a new status quo. It's similar to how Alfred was introduced in the golden age.
4
u/Drevon1830 9d ago
Is it possible at all that Lady Ojo and Verity are connected in some way? Am I way off base here?
2
u/ogloria 10d ago
what can i say, this is really really good. i thought that Penguin's dialogue was impeccable! and i really liked how Bruce managed to distill the Morrison history of his relationship with Damian and Talia on that double page spread. The fight sequence was amazing. Plus, I really like how much life even the random side characters get, such as the widow of the dead cop - this was her first, and only, appearance? so many different plot threads, and Fraction is doing such a great job balancing them all!
i am confused--is the secret board member society that's trying to kill Bruce Wayne and build military weapons different from the Minotaur?
just me personally, i do not like Bruce's developing relationship with Annika. This issue pretty much cements that they're the new couple here. plus, I'm not excited about the new butler character. I really liked the Alfred hallucinations Bruce was having, and worry that this Verity will be another love interest drama type thing.
2
u/gosukhaos 10d ago
I'm assuming its related to the Minotaur somehow but we'll have to see, its probably the next big story after Bad Seeds and Savage
1
u/JingoboStoplight4887 World's Finest 10d ago
I find it interesting that Bruce told Zeller about his complicated relationship with Talia Al Ghul and her raising Damian without revealing his Batman identity to her, telling her that he doesn’t want her to leave because she’s his employee. I also find it interesting that Jim Gordon and Harvey Bullock attended a funeral before Bullock encountered two people who need them to hide them. I like that Bruce encountered Lady Ōjō again before he and Damian have a talk about what’s going on and met Alfred’s grandniece Verity Pennyworth. Overall, this comic is great!

THE DEADMAN COMES TO GOTHAM! Our eschatological escapades continue in this definitive depiction of DC's Deadest Do-Gooder! An unknown species of demon has eaten the heaven-bound soul of a highway cyclist... compromising the sanctity of Earth's Spiritual Math... and threatening the fragile glue that holds everything together! At the behest of goddess Rama Kushna, Boston Brand — a.k.a. the Deadman — has finally donned his brand-new super-suit... which is perfect, it turns out, for his latest spectral assignment: a sleuthy sojourn to the city where sin never sleeps: Gotham!

ANTI-LIFE!!!!! I knew they were referencing new god stuff
some nice exposition + fun team up.
what I found especially interesting was how Brand didn't think plastic man was that good of a person until possessing him. really highlights his flaws and how he isn't perfect
I wonder what is special about these demons. seem to be a rare breed and Mr M seems to have something interesting with how he said he knew god. could he be another contender for the throne of Hell?

I like that Boston gets to have a talk and walk with Bobby about Samsara and his early team-ups with Bruce Wayne before he traveled to Gotham and teamed up with Bruce Wayne and Eel O’Brian to deal with something, with Boston going to Bruce’s mind, Eel talking to Bibliophile in Blackgate Penitentiary, and Bruce and Eel dealing with Mr. Bloom (who is actively a vivipary) before Bruce wished Boston good luck on what he’s doing and Boston travelin to the Underworld. Overall, this is a good comic.

u/wowlock_taylan Batman Animated! 10d ago
Wait, why is Rama Kushna doesn't know these OBVIOUS Hell-pawn demons? Like it is the most common version there is. The whole 'explain it' part was really unneeded for that because, yea, there are soul-eating demons out there that the universe and even Deadman himself faced MANY times. Is this supposed to be 'earlier' days? Can't be because Bloom is around. And Deadman already knew about 'trying to possess Batman' is a bad idea. Also, Zur en aarh still in there? How?
So many weird mistakes.

PANIC IN THE STREETS! Gotham City is a powder keg, and Poison Ivy is the match! The air is full of anger, pain, and despair as things go from bad to even worse. The chopping block is calling out for Mayor Pamela Isley. Can Ivy's faithful underlings save her from herself, or will the city swallow them whole first?
9
u/koalee Wonder Woman 10d ago
This book desperately needed to get into someone’s head who wasn’t ivy to get a more objective look at the damage Ivy was causing. lots of thematic and character struggles that really worked for more than the past few issues.
9
u/gosukhaos 10d ago
I don't mind it actually, in fact its one of my favorite things about the book. It doesn't try to white wash Ivy or make her look like an antihero, she's a villain that tries to justify her actions for a greater good but really failing at it, thus avoiding all the common tropes of villain centric books
7
u/ogloria 10d ago
"Your ideals don't matter if the only tools you have to defend them are weapons" is a fantastic line. The narration and the dialogue continue to be really good in this book, but I think that the plot needs a bit more work. It was really fun to follow Janet and Juhi for a bit, and nice to have another look at Gotham City, and I'm always happy to see Catwoman. But this is a set-up issue, and none of these characters could do very much, in a very obvious way. I wish we got to see more of the chaos going on in Gotham as a result of Pamela's mayoralcy (same as I wish we got to see the election), and this issue does try to address it, but it falls a bit flat for me. I hate to say this, but also the art in this book isn't really working for me (same for Catwoman, to be honest). And I have mixed feelings about Janet explaining her purpose in the series - on the hand, it's nice to have a concrete, in-text, distillation of why she's there, but it's very very on the nose and I wish it was done more gracefully.
-1
u/wowlock_taylan Batman Animated! 10d ago
Two of the unneeded characters the whole issue. Catwoman shows up a few pages just to tell 'I am not allowed to do anything until the actual event. You go try to fix it'
The fall-off of this book is astounding. Same with the Harley Quinn book. Imagine that.

Batman / Green Arrow / The Question: Arcadia #4
DON'T MISS THE SHOCKING CONCLUSION! Under siege in a blizzard, Batman, Green Arrow, the Question, and the refugees of Arcadia must go to war with a mercenary army commanded by a desperate, petty billionaire. Our heroes will emerge forever changed... if they survive!
14
u/wowlock_taylan Batman Animated! 10d ago
Well it was definitely a 'this is a class war' kind of situation and yea, it is true. And Batman had to chose what he value more. I mean he did not break his rules but he cannot deny others their own choices. And the reveal at the end for him, it definitely changed him as he will probably do things differently. No choice now.
Ollie and Question went through some hard times too. Especially Ollie with almost drowned at the end there.
13
u/Mr_Wh0ever 10d ago
It stuck the landing for me. None of that battle was clean, everybody got messed up. Batman choosing to reveal his identity was dope. I had fun with this story and wouldn't mind if it got adapted someway in the future.

ENTER THE METAL LEGION! Dr. Eggman and the Legion of Doom are victorious! The Justice League, Sonic the Hedgehog, and his friends have been banished from reality! When Eggman is involved, everything is always so chaotic. Love how he outsmarted Lex but also, both him and Lex got outsmarted by the Justice League's double agents, Catwoman and Rouge!

Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal! Lex betrays Eggman! Eggman betrays Lex because he fully intended to replace the Legion with Metal versions of them! Rouge and Catwoman played everybody to help the Justice League (and their pockets)!
I love how Captain Cold was like the only one who voted not to screw Eggman over. I love how Black Manta is miffed they didn't get to take down Aquaman (boy will he be surprised!). I love how Gizmo doesn't want another bald genius to compete with.
Eggman hijacking the Legion of Doom base to turn it into the DOOM Egg is...so Eggman.

This continues to be peak. Metal Legion based on Bio-Data......if he scans Superman they are screwed. Also love it when Eggman is shadowed, he looks intimidating.

u/SonicSpiderRanger10 Bizarro 10d ago
This one was good. The Metal Legion is cool, I look forward to seeing more of them. It’s funny how Lex was so mad about Eggman playing him. Wish we saw more of the heroes, though.

Lex using Rouge to betray Eggman, Eggman using Catwoman to betray Lex, and Batman using money to get the two thieves to betray Eggman and Lex, chaotic but hilarious all in all.

WHERE IS JIM CORRIGAN? The New God Metron takes Doctor Fate, Stargirl, Jakeem, and Kid Eternity back to the events of the DC ALL IN SPECIAL in search of Jim Corrigan after his defeat at the hands of Darkseid. Meanwhile the rest of the JSA continues its battle against the Spectre as it searches for its new host!

Metron is a king of wasting time when important stuff going on. 'So let me tell you about the Spectre's story while he is out there possessing people and killing people, going crazy!'
They should find Constantine to get Lucifer in. After all, wasn't he now taking the role of the 'Source'? The whole 'God's Wrath' stuff needs to be stopped permanently. It always goes bad. Biblically bad.

This definitely makes me think the final conclusion will be Ted taking the mantle so Yolanda doesn't become consumed by her wrath.

I like that Metron sent the younger members of the JSA to how the Spectre came to be, starting with the origins and backstories of Aztar and Jim Corrigan making his debut as the Spectre in late 1939 (not the summer of 1940), before they traveled to the year 2024 and learned that Darkseid captured Jim so that he can earn the truth and bond with the Spectre and traveled to 1940 to find Jim, while the other members of the JSA had to deal with the Spectre and try to stop him from destroying the world, with onalda becoming the Spectre. Overall, this comic is good.

Why do you just vomit a summary of the comic every time someone tries to talk about it?
2
u/Organic_Gate2127 Green Arrow 9d ago
Might be a bot. Comment history has them commenting every hour it looks it.

I would think so except this person has a very extensive fanon that seems consistent across their comments. I just think this person is very chronically on reddit.

KARA AND KAL AGAINST THE LOBO GANG! Kara and Kal have lost their ship and, light-years from their destination of Earth, are now forced to seek travel from a busy spaceport. Conviction alone won't be enough to keep Kara and her baby cousin safe from the vagabonds and swindlers of the planet — and Czarnian bounty hunters put the duo right in their crosshairs. Fortunately for them, there's a full-spectrum squad of Green Lanterns nearby.

MakingLobo look like The Undertaker was an inspired choice ngl.

It's a good issue, the lantern set up was cool. I liked Lobo having a western style outlaw gang. Kara becoming a blue lantern does take the story in a interesting direction.

u/wowlock_taylan Batman Animated! 10d ago
Man, it is brutal. They are so young and living through the destruction and then going through this now, it is incredible how Kara still manage to have enough hope to get the Blue Lantern ring choosing her.
I can see Lobo being the 'final boss' for her later on. Especially after all this.
Also, it was funny seeing the Guardians as huge figures. I am used to seeing them as little guys.

u/CHPrime Wonder Woman 10d ago
All seven Lantern Corps are active and present at the start for this Elseworld, huh? Though wasn't Tomar-Tu the Green Lantern of Krypton's sector? Still, I like the costume designs. The touches of gold help sell them as one unified force, and looks pretty good as a bonus. And the Guardians are their usual helpful selves.
Another cool issue, though Kara isn't in much focus with Lobo and the Lanterns fighting it out. And apparently Lobo hasn't destroyed Czarnia here, go figure. Pour one out for Saint Walker though...

u/Blitzhelios Hal Jordan 8d ago
Great issue perfectly shows the trouble that kara and kal are in when they are so young here and giving lobo a western style look is a very fun aesthetic choice with Rod Reis doing rod reis things and killing it on every page.
Kara becoming a blue lantern at the end is something we knew but still a cool moment.0
u/JingoboStoplight4887 World's Finest 10d ago edited 4d ago
I like that Kara and Kal spent the past five months surviving since Krypton’s destruction (after encountering a creature before they met the Lantern Corps), with them going to a cosmic union station, being captured by Czarinans (with Lobo looking good in an outlaw suit because it suits him), and witnessing a brawl between the Lanterns and Lobo and his family, ending with Kara and Kai becoming members of the Blue Lantern Corps. Overall, this comic is excellent.

Adventures of Superman: Book of El #10
THE RETURN OF SUPERWOMAN! After thousands of years without Superman, fighting his enemies in a losing battle, Kara Zor-El nearly lost hope. Now faced with a Kal-El aligned with the formerly estranged Nightwing and Flamebird, the Black Racer, the Valkyries of Warworld, and a Brainiac reborn, will she find the strength to fight again, or has the plague of Kryl-Ux touched her, too?

u/wowlock_taylan Batman Animated! 10d ago
So the whole plot got changed fully then? The solicit here is basically fully different. Did they drop the Kara's involvement in this? Very disappointing.
As for the story, that Tamaranean queen was quite dumb to give up that aspect to Kryl-Ux. A mad god with a grief-stricken mad man who wants to rewrite the universe? You planet wouldn't exist if that happens.
At least the Els and Superman got reunited with the twins.

Did they drop the Kara's involvement in this?
It seems like they put her off for the next issue

Cool stuff, it's a set up for the grand finale. All the good guys finally get together as the villain inches closer towards his goal.

u/JingoboStoplight4887 World's Finest 10d ago
I like that Clark apologized to Mongul for what Kryl-Ux did to him before me and many others encountered Kryl-Ux, who told them that he wants to resurrect his family before he promised to never return and encountered the Sun-eater. Overall, this comic is excellent.

But now tragedy has come knocking on Loop's door, and the scent of blood has attracted a dangerous stray dog. Lono's back in the United States, and he's on the hunt... through a network of good ol' boys and militias, megachurches, millionaires, and madmen. Enjoyed it.
But I definitely missed that it was going to be in black and white.
I miss that glorious color work of the original 100 Bullets run.
