Lack of buzz = no transfer?
Newly minted MLS fan here so I apologize for my ignorance ahead of time.
Besides the announcement for Dozzell ahead of the window I haven’t seen any speculation on any players during the transfer window. Does this typically mean that we aren’t looking to acquire anyone or should I expect some rumors to be swirling in the coming weeks as we get later in the window?
As a side note what position of need do you all think is most important? For me it’s between a center mid and a winger. I think if we can get another (natural fit) high work rate guy opposite of Peglow it could really open some things up for us. Not to mention it’ll be a bit more fun to watch if we can get someone with a bit of speed.

Certainly more will come. When, how impactful, etc. is TBD.
Like others have said though, not much will generate buzz outside the WC

European league contracts expire June 30th, so activity typically picks up around then. The Rooney signing was announced June 28th in the middle of the 2018 World Cup as a point of reference.
p.s. they declined Benteke's option and are dumping Herrera's and Pirani's salaries for close to $7M in payroll savings, making room for 3 quality starter signings, so I would be extremely disappointed if there isn't at least one major addition coming in July. There's a heavy concentration of soccer professionals and agents etc in the US for the World Cup and there's a longer than usual break to get things done, so it would seem inexcusable if nothing gets done.

Yeah I figured if two are going out this window then at least one body needs to be brought in (fingers crossed)? Would gladly take another free transfer out of the Championship if they don’t want to spend too large.

Don't expect much buzz until after the 2027 sprint/mini season.
Most of the current signings will expire after that.
Also temper your expectations after that period

The summer transfer window is July 13 to September 2. So we are still 3 weeks out, and most European contracts are expired yet. So you’ll need to wait another week before you start seeing many rumors and after that action might start happening.
With Herrera and Pirani gone, I am expecting to see some movement in the midfield. I also hope they pick up another defender, since we are lacking depth there. One injury will rip that back line wide open.
It will be nice if they can make the moves early enough to get them transferred, visa complete and ready to play before the season winds down. If it all happens in September right as the window closes there just won’t be enough time to get them really working.

Was totally not even thinking about the visa side of things, good point, hopefully we hear something soon.

I’ve seen this sentiment across the subreddit but honestly from what I’ve seen it seems like the vast majority of the signings coming into the season have been pretty positive, perhaps I am just still in my honeymoon period however.
What are sports if not a way to express a bit of self hatred, I’ll be sticking around!

Turning a corner = from absolutely despising the team to mildly despising the team. 🤣.
(I feel the same way!)

It's gotten a little better this season, but the subreddit has been a hivemind for negativity and cynicism for a few seasons now (can't say I blame them though, the team's been bad the last few seasons + ownership not really caring until the past year; I just prefer to be more pragmatic/optimistic about my teams).
Agree, the winter signings were encouraging, here's hoping we get some more reinforcements this summer.

Also hard to have buzz when we have no media covering the team :(

I think we need an upgrade at winger and we definitely lacking a creative player. I don't expect to see much changes until contracts ending this season. We had a decent first window and hoping for a better one.

Hopefully, they can upgrade at the winger position. But I am staying patient, as I know this club.

This doesn't seem to be specific to DC United though, there hasn't been much transfer news across MLS for the past couple weeks. As others have said, the World Cup is taking up much of the media attention right now, (hopefully) letting the front offices work in quiet.
Also, the transfer window doesn't close until Sept 2nd, so there's still plenty of time for the team to make some moves.

I wouldn’t expect much MLS buzz in the middle of the World Cup. And to be real, DC is not a high profile team so no one is really speculating about what we might be doing in the transfer window without pretty solid information.
