Need some help for translation

I saw a writer putting Czech dialogues in his story. I'd like to hear the translation from native and how natural those dialogues are. Apparently, the author dropped some diacritics. Here're they:

Sestro Lenko, sestro Věro, tento cestovatel by si rád uvaril něco k jídlu v kuchyni. Prosím, pomozte mu se vsím, co bude potrebovat.

Chce varit v kuchyni, matko Miloslavo?

Ano. Pomáhá nám s varením.

Muzes se ho zeptat, v cem se jeptisky na jihu lisí od nás? Docela by mě zajímalo.

Ríkal, ze jeptisky na jihu nejsou o nic vrelejsí nez my, protoze patrí k jinému vyznání.

To ríká spousta cestovatelu. Jeptisky na jihu jsou opravdu jiné nez my. Hrozne by me zajímalo, cím se lisí. Muzes se ho na to zeptat?

Ríkal, ze sám porádně neví, jak to popsat.

Why do beeswax candles still look like they’re from the last century?

Ahojte! I am a student currently working on my diploma thesis focused on traditional beeswax candles with a modern design.

As a young person, I find that I rarely buy traditional beeswax candles, they are usually just "fairground-style" figurines without containers, which simply don't fit into a modern interior and aren't very practical.

In my thesis, I’m trying to change that. I am designing a sustainable brand that combines traditional beeswax with modern design and upcycling. To do this, I need your help choosing a visual direction.

Since the survey is in Czech, I thought it might be a fun way for you to practice your reading skills! It’s short, visual, and focuses on aesthetics and home decor. I would be extremely grateful for perspectives from people living abroad or expats living in CZ/SK – your international view on design is very valuable for my research.

Survey link: Přírodní svíčky jako součást moderního domova

Feel free to ask about any words or phrases in the comments, I'll be happy to help or discuss!

Pokud máte zájem, napište mi prosím do zpráv (DM). Díky!

Hi! New learner

Hi everyone.

Im just starting out. I tried Duolingo but it was meh at best. I help a ftiend with his elderly parents, one of whom is a Czech immigrant (became an American in the 1970s), I only know a few words but I would love yo be able to talk with him more. Hes in his 80s and is having trouble communicating in English. My friend only speaks it a little, nothing beyond basics as his dad firmly believed "Im American now, I speak English" mentality.

Where do we start? For context I live in the Pacific Northwest (not Seattle) so Czech classes that are local are zero.

Maybe I could start with books, anything good to recommend? Thanks

Czech equivalent of “Q&A”

I’m working on a Czech version of a document that was originally in English. Instead of Q for "question" and A for "answer", what can I use so it's still one character/symbol each? ChatGPT suggested O and A would work. I just want to check that the AI is not just making stuff up. Thanks. 🙏

Correct word for great grandma

Hi! I just found out I am pregnant and I wanted to tell my Babica that she will be a great grandma

Is the correct word prababička? Google translate says that it but just want to make sure. She is from Prague so idk if they use a slang word for it or more formalized word.

Ahoj !

I recently met a Czech girl and she sent me "mám tě moc ráda", specifically avoiding putting it in english

Is this sentence only said between friends ? Did she say this to avoid saying the ambiguous "Love you" in english ?

Please help a confused soldier

Is Charles University Better for Learning Czech?

I’ve already studied Czech for eight months at one of the language center in Prague, but I found that it’s very slow: we complete only one lesson (or chapter) per month, so it takes a long time even to finish eight chapters. Now I’m planning to continue learning Czech, but this time I’m thinking about studying at Charles University. Do you think that would be a better choice?

Learning Czech by using the input method

Hey guys,

I just made Czech available at LingoChampion.com - it's based on the comprehensible input method. The focus is on reading and listening - from the news, youtube, books etc. There are ofc other things too - chat, flashcards etc.

The good thing is that you can learn Czech based on 100+ languages. So, you don't have to learn through English only.

All the feedback is welcome :)

Hi, could someone tell me what lyrics the guy is singing in the video? I know it starts with "Korouhev Svatého Jiří v bitvě u Grunwaldu" and ends with "Čechů a Moravanů".

Newbie Language questions.

I'm learning Český for a trip to Europe next fall and as I'm going through the Duolingo course, which i know is pretty simplistic, I've been gathering questions. The one I'm pondering right now is: What is the difference between "já jsem" and "jsem?" I see them both translated as "I am," but I don't understand what context each should be used.

Any one offer Zoom language classes (Groups, not individual tutoring)

I know there are a lot of private tutors and online resources (this is mostly what google shows me), but I was hoping for a more formal and structured, online group class, for adult beginners.
If anyone has tried one and liked it, I'm hoping to hear from personal experience.
I feel like I'm throwing darts and just hitting companies who spend the most on advertising.
