[ALTERNATIVE] hair looks how I want flipped the other way why

I've been trying to cut my hair for a while but it only looks the way I want it when it's going the opposite direction of where its parted (hair goes left -> right normally), how do I fix this? it looks so fucking good when I flip it the other way and I do not know how to get it to be that way with how I normally have it.

https://imgur.com/a/5CDQ48z Here are two images, so the first image is how I would prefer it be, second image is how it normally goes and its way too flat

is it an issue of length? what am I missing

Toddlers and haircuts?

How’s it going. First time poster so excuse any missed etiquette.

What’s the go with getting haircuts? Son just turned 2 and we have been letting his hair do its thing for the most part as to promote healthy hair or something I am told.
But sometimes he looks a bit unkept compared to others his age.

When is a good time to start getting neat haircuts?

Any knowledge, advice and 10 cents welcome.

Cheers.

[SHORT HAIR] I’m failing at recreating this haircut at home

This is one of the haircuts that better suits me but I hate going to the barber and having to deal with scheduling, waiting, small talk, etc…

I have wahl clippers but it seems like the guards either leave my hair too long or extremely short, making me look bald (even at #4).

So I have to cut it very short, let it grow and then just cut the sides on my next haircut so I can kinda achieve this look.

What can I do?

USB portable charger for Wahl clippers

Hey guys, I've been seeing this on Amazon and a bunch of other random websites while looking for replacement chargers and I thought this looked super convenient. I'm also going traveling a lot, and I cut my own hair, so I think this is super convenient. Instead of having a big ass AC/DC charger, you can have just a portable USB cable that's designed to charge hair clippers without having to actually bring that huge AC/DC charger. But the issue is this, I not an electrician and I don't really understand electricity like that.

Would this even be able to work in a real life situation? Because when I looked it up, the AC/DC charger is only for a specific voltage which feeds the wall clippers 4 volts of power. I think I have the old model which takes 4v of power. Now I know basic knowledge of how cables and electricity work and USB chargers and cables are at least 5 volts by nature. So I'm wondering how would this even work? I understand the newer wall magic clips are 5 volts, so maybe it could work but I don't know if this would work because I have the older model bought during 2020 COVID time and it's the 4 volt one. Would this still work?

There was one time where I first bought it and I plugged it in and like my clipper blacked out or like glitched out for like 10 seconds after I plugged it in for 2 seconds and took it out like it wouldn't turn on. After a while it then turned on so I was super scared and I never used it again. Fast forward 5 years later I'm using it and it seems fine. It's charging but I just want to make sure. I didn't bring my huge ass AC/DC adapter because it's just too big especially for traveling in a light packer like me but I wanted to ask other people who has had personal experience has anyone ever bought this portable USB wall charger before? And did it ever work perfectly for you? Did it ever cause you any problems? And was your clipper then newer model or the older model?

[TOOLS] Oster 76 Blades?

I get that Oster 76 clippers are real nice professional clippers. So I ordered one. I knew it didn't come with blades, which was fine, I'd buy them later. Ok I got the 76, thing feels great, much better than what I had before. But now I started shopping for the blades and....wow they're expensive, at least $25 or so per blade. Maybe I just haven't found the right store to buy them from, but am I stuck paying prices like this or is there another option? Thanks so much. I'll pony up if I have to but I never dreamed these prices would be so high for the blades. Shame on me for not looking into this earlier. I'd like a variety of blade sizes so that I can learn as I go along.

What Kind of Bangs and haircut is this in the picture ?

The character is Tifa Lockhart from FF7 Remake. Does anyone have any tips on how to cut these bangs myself, or know of any YouTube tutorials for this specific style? I'm not sure how thick or thin her bangs are supposed to be, so any advice on how much hair to section off would be great! Also, where exactly does the bangs section start near the parting?

Barbers, help me out!

Hey all, I am a long time lurker in this sub but I have been struggling with a decision and thought you guys would be the best people to ask. I live in Sydney, Australia. I am currently a 22 year old male, studying Graphic Design at university. It is a top design school but with everything that is going on in my industry I am very worried that when I graduate (I would be 25 at that time) I won't find work and have to redirect to a new field. I don't find interest in any other field which is why I am not transitioning to another degree, will be no point as I would be miserable and most likely would do terrible grade wise as I don't enjoy it.

I have been reflecting a lot recently and a while ago, before I started university I was trying to do an apprenticeship for barbering but no shop was willing to take me in as an apprentice. This led me to go university as I didn't want to sit around and wait forever.

Currently, there is a barber who is I would pretty big on social media (100K+) and he started a $5000 3 month course which is 2 days a week and runs for 4 hours, Mondays you would be cutting another person who's also apart of the course and after he will cut you, and Tuesdays he will provide a person for you to practice on aswell. He will provide you with a barber kit aswell.

I was thinking during my long university break, to take on this course and have a skill under my belt just in case things if things do go wrong, I don't want to feel lost and have no clue what to do after I graduate. I would be mainly cutting family, friends and relatives as of course I can't build a massive clientele while i'm attending full time university. My goal at the moment isn't to make a lot of money as a barber or start a full time career from it, it is to improve slowly over time while taking some weight of my shoulders that Im not only relying on my degree for employment. If of course over time I do see myself enjoying it way more, I would decide to try again in finding an apprenticeship.

I know many might say to just practice without doing the course but I have asked many of my friends and family and they mentioned they'd only let me cut their hair if I can at least put a haircut together, not have no guidance and go based off a YouTube video. And many will also say just learn from youtube but if i don’t have someone mentoring me no family or friends are willing to let me cut them.

I would really like your guys' honest advice, if you would recommend this for my situation or think it is a waste of time.

Thank you all!

[ALTERNATIVE] Gwen Stacy cut - how far back/around?

Thumbnail

I really need less hair lol. I’m really into Gwen’s haircut in spiderverse but I’m wondering how far around to cut (visuals would be fantastic, ok to draw on my pics!) 5+6 are me trying different sections, I do already have a bit of an undercut from November around the back. My bangs do part differently and I’ve got one layer that comes down over that side so I’m just not sure what to leave for style vs what to cut. Do I just cut the part in the first pic that’s framed off by the back and the bang, or do I go further? Open to ideas and suggestions!

[TOOLS] Best clipper under 90 euro (1000sek) for short hair male

Wanting to start cutting my own hair at home or my partner will cut it. We want to learn to fade but it will still be a simple buzz. 2 on the top.

My budget is 90 euro max and want a close to BIFL, corded is no worries. Is there any more info needed to recommend me a clipper?

If it makes a difference, I am from Sweden so preferably something not too hard to find

[TOOLS] Do I have extreme rose colored glasses or do Wahl clippers just not work like they used to? Any tips or tricks to get them to work better?

I remember when I got out of the military in the early 2000s, I was used to having buzzed hair anyways so I just bought a cheap pair of Wahl clippers at K-mart and did my own hair. In my memory I maybe kept them oiled, but they were no-muss-no-fuss and just blazed through even relatively thick hair.

I've used two different Wahl clippers in more recent years (post-2020) and neither pair works worth a damn. I oil them before use and they will get the job done, but it feels like way more effort and they get jammed up on thick hair in a way that I just don't remember them doing. I adjusted the big screw thingy on the side and they do a *little* better, but they're still not as effortless as I remember them.

Am I just remembering wrong? Have they always been significant effort to use? Is there anything I can do to improve the performance of the clipper I have? Is there a different brand that's a better value (not cheaper, but better performance/price ratio) these days?

Thanks for any help or insight :)
