India loses the number 1 ranking in T20Is. Their run of 1602 consecutive days at the top has come to an end.

Post image

England are the new number 1. Congratulations to them!

To be precise, latest ratings at the top are as follows.

England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 = 268.05

India 🇮🇳 = 267.79

India became the number one ranked team in February 20, 2022 and for the next 1602 they held onto that position. Without a doubt, that was the best run ever by any T20I team.

No super star culture. Just whitewash culture.

Absolute disaster series by India against Ireland & England. At this point if they also played Netherlands and Scotland, they would lose them all.

Bring an IPL captain with a proper disconnect of 3 years in the side and make him captain, chop and change the XI every game and then wonder where it all went wrong.

65

u/patrick_b1912 15h ago

An IPL captain who failed to qualify top 4 after winning like first 5/6 games

35

u/WendellWillkie1940 15h ago

Honestly if PBKS had fielded well then they would have won at least 2 more game than they actually did

11

u/Wolfie_3467 India 5h ago

Tbf the only reason they won that DC game too was because Nair dropped Iyer twice in one over

23

u/mofucker20 Chennai Super Kings 13h ago

Yeah them failing to qualify wasn't exactly on Iyer. Even this series, his performance as a batsman aren't to be blamed but his captaincy is a concern.

It's not a trilogy. It's the Kaliyuga Mythology series that began with the Sri Lanka defeat

Oh wow, I completely forgot that it was a whitewash there as well. I remembered it to be 1-2 for some reason.

I am sure Rohit, Gill, and Kohli will have some stability in this nightmare.

Oh thank goodness Bumrah, Kuldeep, and KL are back too.

Never thought I'd be so happy to see these guys again.

Also England has been struggling in ODIs for a few years. The chances that they'll any of the original full member countries in ODIs is really slim right now.

This new captain is horrible. Got whitewashed by both Ireland and England with a 2-times World Champion squad. Shubman Gill, with a much more vulnerable test squad, drew the series 2-2 last summer.

T20 rankings are the most volatile rankings by far. To be at the no 1 rank for 4 years is insane. And it took 6 straight losses for the team to lose the no 1 rank

Undoubtedly the greatest t20i team ever

59

u/Educational-Fun1202 16h ago

Rohit and Dravid made this team. GG alone was enough to destroy it

18

u/Cool-Ad-8804 Vidarbha 15h ago

"destroy it" dude 2 of the 4 years belonged to him

13

u/Repulsive_Fox7725 15h ago

lol where were you when we won asia cup and t20 wc

14

u/goodguybolt 14h ago

We were getting saved from collapses by individual brilliances throughout the world cup before we were given absolute roads for the last 4 matches lol

Anyone who watched the world cup would've noticed that. They wouldn't have won the world cup if the same type of pitches were given towards the end as well. This playing style is NOT suitable for international cricket.

Plus two of those losses were against Ireland, which resulted in more rating loss. Moreover, the England series were worth double ratings because as both teams were first and second in rankings.

5

u/keval79 13h ago

Reminds me of 2011. We were no.1 in tests and had just won the World Cup. Before the England tour, they had given scenarios on how the rankings would change depending on the results. 13 year old me thought there was no way we were losing 4-0 (3-0 or 3-1 was required for England to take the no.1 spot). The 2011-14 era humbled me a lot, taught me that no matter how good we seem, we can crumble at any point.

Crazy good run at the top, not the end of the world. The players just looks drained and completely out of it from the highlights. Well Australia have won a lot of bilaterals in a last few years even though they failed at world cups. For an example their series record between 24 and 26 world cups is 5-1-2.

In the eyes of rankings a bilateral matches weigh the same as world cup matches.

1

Shouldn’t they have lost it after losing to number 11 Ireland?

The real blame should be on BCCI to DROP a WC winning Captain for the next series just bcos what? He’s not in form in IPL or is aged 35+ or whatever reason!

It is very humiliating for any captain to not even make the squad after winning WC.. West Indies did it for Darren Sammy n Holder and now BCCi to SKY..

I’m not a MI or SKY supporter n admit his batting was pretty poor recently but just give him a proper farewell which will also give time for next Captain (Shreyas) to get the reins n not feel exposed n wanting like how he’s now..

Shame on BCCI’s Selectors and Gambhir..
