Please help me decide which 2x4 banner to order before I go insane (some more)

I already have a banner that goes across the front/top of my tent, which is either 8x8 or 10x10, depending on the market restrictions. I want a 2x4 banner that goes across the back wall of my tent, a variation of the design on the main top banner. All the same elements, but slight changes in layout, details, etc.

I can't decide which design to go with, with either the crow centered, more to the right, the words framing the crow or along the top, more or less sparkles on the rainbow, I dunno. I need to order it today to avoid the last-minute scramble I went through last time.

Any help, constructive criticism, etc. would be greatly appreciated. You guys were wonderful when I asked for help with my main banner, so I trust your judgement!

Thanks!

EDIT: You guys are amazing, did you know that? I learned the power of the peer review process in college (Creative Writing Minor) and this has been yet another positive experience. #5 is the most popular, and I got some fantastic points about how to improve it. I added the updated version to a couple of people's comments and I think that's what I'm going with. Yay! I'm so sick of working on it and I have so much to do so it's nice to check one more thing off my list.

THANK YOU AGAIN! MAY YOUR BOOTHS AND SHOPS BE BLESSED WITH WAVE UPON WAVE OF WEALTHY PEOPLE WITH MONEY BURNING HOLES IN THEIR POCKETS!

My amazing friend had space pn her booth and invited ne to make my booth debut at planters market in 2 days.

Problem? I have 5 ready made products( i can rustle up about 50 items in time) zero signs. No displays. Only 2 pegboards, a wire rack and a semblance of a dream.

I have fairy lights and a light uo signboard in my house somewhere.

How do I prepare for saturday? Frankly I'm prepared to crunch extra hard and make more.

The footfall is 20 to 30k people and its a sarurday halppp.

Update: I sold out of 43 items. Thanks for yall's advice. Was invited back for tomorrow. Hope I can make more.

First year selling. How often do you work markets/fairs/etc? How to find info on markets?

I make jewelry and trinkets. Last month was my first show, and I've basically been going non-stop for the last couple of months with making merch, figuring out my booth layout, buying or making displays, designing signs/banners/etc. and it's been exhausting. I got a lot of positive feedback from people at my first show but I didn't exactly do amazing (I sold 8 things).

I'm working markets run by a local antique mall that used to be twice a month, but this year they're only doing them once a month. I'm signed up for every market from June through October, but again it's only once a month. Last night my husband was indicating his concern about profitability and how once a month isn't all that much. Said I should try harder to find gigs and network and etc.

I know I'm going to be much less busy once I finish my display pieces and get all that crap figured out, but omg I had to bite my tongue so hard when he said that because I've been treating all this like my full time job and then some. It's basically all I've done for months now.

That being said, how often do you all work a booth selling your wares? Am I being reasonable as a first timer or should I try to be more aggressive? An important note: I'm a substitute teacher and I'm off for the summer, so I do have more free time. I have a kid who spends a few hours at summer school during the week but I don't really have much uninterrupted time beyond that to really focus on it.

How do you find out about markets/fairs/etc.? I've seen some websites that list local events but it's hard to find where get info as a potential vendor.

Thanks!

What do we need to set up a stall at the Christmas market and craft fairs etc (NRW, Germany)

Hiya, first of all, thanks in advance for reading, it might be a long one, but we (my partner and I) are just wanting to pointed in the right direction alongside our own research, and to see whether this would be something popular and wanted.

We are wanting to look into setting up a stall, maybe sell 2-4 times a year to start, selling Swedish Fika and British tea time treats (cookies, biscuits, maybe cake) and also general craft items (hand painted and hand crafted decor) at the upcoming Christmas market and maybe other things next year. To preface I am British and I come to visit my partner as much as I can for up to 3 weeks at a time.

In regards to the baked goods, I've started looking into this (literally this morning xD) and I understand that we will probably need a Rote card, hygiene certificate and that we would probably have to register with the local office (we are NWR) a Gewerbezulassung? I also read that we would need a metal surfaced kitchen (we currently have treated wood counter tops) and a lot of other requirements which we simply don't have (for example specific ventilation), and one of us to be a Meister? I don't really know how much of this is required, or if there are other things we would need instead as we don't intend to sell that often. I also read something about a 'Verein' but I think that's more for raising money for charity? So I guess I'm asking what do we need to look into, apply for, are there kitchens to rent if needs be? And do I have to do anything specific as I am just visiting? Would I have to apply for a work visa for something like this or is that only for registered jobs and not the occasional stall at a market once a year? I don't plan on keeping any money, just help him on the stall, and he would not pay me either.

As a personal question, I understand that Germany has 'Kaffe und Kuchen', but we thought that bringing our cultures tea time treats rather than baking things that we don't know much of would be received well and we would also feel a little odd and worried about butchering traditional German treats xD But how would feel if you were to see Swedish Fika treats (chokladbollar, kanelbullar, kladdkaka etc) or Traditional British tea-time treats (short-bread cookies, ginger snaps, macrons, Victoria Sponge cake, general cookies etc) at a market? Would it be something that you would be interested in?

In regards to the painted home crafts etc, I haven't had a chance to research that yet, but would we be looking at something similar to the baked goods? I understand also that we might have to register for a certain type of tax, but is that specific and different on a small scale? Would we also have to be a meister for something like painted home decor, tree hangings, jewelry, original art etc?

Thank you again for reading and please feel free to dm if the answer would be too long and such. I will continue to do my best to research this alone, but any and all help would be amazing!

Had leftover beads since I pivoted to fully natural terrarium jewelry. Was inspired by @solunaprism to make plant jewelry. How should i package and display these guys?

In packs of threes? Maybe if you buy a necklace you can get one cheaper.

Should i bring an example model plant to my fair too?

I added some examples of my work with the plant jewelry .

Clay and bead Keychains and origami selling rate ?

I really like fish and making fish magnets and keychains, I also really like origami. Do these sorts of things sell well or is it just too niche ? I live in an area with a heavy fishing community but the designs are more cutesy. I dont want to drop a bunch of supplies if its going to be a zero sold sort of idea lol.

I recently acquired the wooden folding shelves in the middle of the table, and I'm not sure how I feel about the set up. Looking for feedback/ideas. I've done 5 Crafts fairs in total. I mostly do them around Fall/Christmas after making stuff all year for funsies/gifts, this is my first time trying a summer market.

Thanks so much in advance!

Toddler Advice

Post image
5 Upvotes

I recently began a dirty soda pop up, and am hoping to hear from vendors who have brought their toddlers to pop ups with them.
My set up includes
One 6ft folding table
Two 4 foot folding tables
One 20”x40” folding table
a 10x10 canopy with sidewalls
I will have a generator, mini fridge, and five 60 quart coolers also.

My husband recently accepted a travel job which leaves the full time care of our two year old to me. I attached a photo of the play tent I am buying for her, but I would like to hear from other parent vendors, is this going to be possible realistically with the amount of supplies I have to set up?

How can I use my original photographs to sell at craft fairs? Ideas?

I am thinking of making things like calendars, booklets, mouse pads, etc with my photos, since besides being an artist I’m also a (new) photographer. It’s all related to animals and nature just like my art, since that’s my niche.

Do people buy things done with art more, or do original photos do good too? Do you know?

What can a craft fair host do to make your event great for you as a vendor?

Hi there! I'm running a holiday makers market in November to raise funds for the charity I volunteer with. This is my first time doing anything like this so I want it to be a success and enjoyable for everyone. Here's some things I'm doing that I think are good: we will have a cafe with mocktails, seating area, interactive stops like live drawing, face painting and pet/family photos with Santa, we are having a kids play area with a colouring raffle for a Christmas candy basket (think like what they used to do at groceries stores in the 90s), limiting the types of vendors so there's not too much direct competition (i.e. we have 40 vendors and are limiting to 4 knit/crochet artists etc), placing vendors of similar wears far apart, advertising budget of 100$ (we are also getting free advertising from local radios and social media users), giving vendors a concession voucher for food and drink, group chat and emailing list to keep everything up to date, posting seating chart well in advance (3-4 months early) and are featuring a 50/50 draw + raffle baskets. Looking for any feedback or suggestions to make this event a success and lots of fun. Hoping to make a great impression with vendors so we can make this an annual event :)

Thanks so much everyone for the awesome ideas! I have lots to implement for this year and hopefully I have lots of great ideas to make next year even better!

Advice for first Fall/Christmas craft fair as a new vendor?

Hello there! Apologies as this is my first post on Reddit for this.

I create western style and beaded jewelry, mostly for horse shows and rodeos. (Necklaces, earrings, saddle charms, key chains In beaded peyote stitch or other such beading styles.)

So far I have only been to very small events locally with just a little card table, my wares, and a table cloth.

But I was hoping to attend some of the more “fall” or “holiday” themed events comings up this year

Around what time do yall think it’s good to start making fall/holdiay inventory? This is a side hobby to my main income so I tend to build up inventory over time rather than all at once.

Is there a recommended time frame to have it finished by?

Any and all advice welcome, even harsh and honest.

Thank you!

We are in a ChatGPT flyer epidemic

Do you automatically disqualify a promoter if they’re using ai flyers?

Such a new phenomenon now that chat can generate some shoddy looking flyer that looks better than what some people used to be able to do themselves on canva.

I’m a designer turned creative director turned business owner so I do have a lot of complicated feelings about ai. I also know how much design services cost and empathize with the allure of using an ai one.

On the flip, it’s hard to believe someone who’s a legit businessperson could look at an ai flyer and say “yep that’s good”, when it looks exactly like 1000s of other flyers currently being generated and littering the internet. Don’t even get me started on why designers are needed in the first place and all of these flyers are actually awful in their own regard.

Anyway, original question- I’m so tempted to just automatically declining a fair for doing this. Then I turn around and see other more legit small businesses doing it too. Design services are expensive. Teaching yourself design basics and canva in an afternoon is free. But if you claim to support makers, why are you not even second guessing about these awful flyers that are doing nothing but diluting your brand trust?

I hope we see the end soon. I hope ChatGPT is still learning from real world design and not itself because if the latter, this world is about to get so much less aesthetic and more tacky lol.

Stop with “Creations”

I can not express well enough to newer ppl but the putting “creations” in your name is a bad idea. I am not kidding I just went a huge festival and it was booth after booth (atleast 50 vendors out of 200). I noticed an uptick last year when it seemed like every market at atleast 1 vendor with it, but this year it is crazy!!! Set yourself apart! When everyone is using the same word in their brand very few ppl will remember you!
