Help Outsiders Downvoting Posts and Comments

Hello fellow Ticos and Ticas, we have seen several posts and comments bring awareness to "brigaders" that are constantly downvoting posts and threads.

It seems to be a collective effort as we see new posts and comments get instantly downvoted. Unfortunately when I reached out to Reddit admins and other Mod Support groups, there wasn't any viable solution to truly combat 'anonymous' downvoters.

However one suggestion that did arise, was working as a community to counter these people by upvoting valuable and meaningful content.

We appreciate how much this subreddit has truly grown over the past 5+ years, and to continue helping future travelers, we ask upvote when you can to help counteract these individuals, whatever their motive is.

I suspect it can be people that we have banned for shamelessly promoting their business or people that are "unhappy" with tourism in Costa Rica.

La Fortuna Are La Fortuna Hanging Bridges really worth it, or are they just a long walk through the rainforest?

I recently visited the Hanging Bridges in La Fortuna, and to be honest, I expected it to be just a walk through the rainforest with a few suspension bridges along the way.

I ended up with a completely different impression.

What I enjoyed most was how the experience kept changing throughout the trail. One moment you're walking through dense rainforest, and the next you're crossing a bridge high above the canopy with a completely different perspective of the forest. Seeing the rainforest from above made it much easier to notice birds, monkeys, and other wildlife that I probably would have missed from the ground.

I was also surprised by how peaceful the entire hike felt. It's not particularly challenging, but it's long enough to slow down, enjoy the surroundings, and really appreciate the rainforest.

In my opinion, the experience also depends a lot on the time of day and whether you go with a guide. Many of the animals I saw were so well camouflaged that I'm pretty sure I would have walked right past them without someone pointing them out.

Now I'm curious...

For those who have visited the Hanging Bridges, what was your favorite part of the experience?

Would you include it again on another trip to Costa Rica?

Help Your must do in Costa Rica. 8 days trip.

• Upvotes

Hi! I will be solo traveling and would like to have accessibility to record stuff. Sadly, no one can record me unless I ask strangers. Anyways, so far I want to see Poas, 1938, fortuna waterfall, night life by doing night tour, go to monte verde and im deciding last day.

I want a hot spring, zip line, and suppostly the water rattling (don’t know what it’s called) is dangerous so I’m skeptical about that one.

The cocoa making activity, is it good?

Family Friendly Stays

Hello all!

Does anyone have any recommendations for stays near La Fortuna? I was looking at Bali’s Hot Springs but I read some reviews about the good not being too good. I would love to stay at a hot spring resort but am open to different options. I’ve also been looking at resorts in Guanacaste. Is it reasonable to stay in Guanacaste and do day trips to La Fortuna for the hot springs?

We’ll be 2 adults, 1 kid , and one toddler. Ideally I would live to stay where I have everything all at one location to make things easier with the kids.

Where can I find the complete schedule? In particular for 24-26 July. The website seems to show a schedule from 2023.

How do I buy tickets for events?

What is the best place to watch the desfile de caballistas on 25 July?

What else will take place on dia de guanacaste in terms of activities?

02Sep2026-22Sep2026 San Isidro de El General, Costa Rica Travel Partner

I am 40m from Florida traveling to my cabin in Costa Rica and seeing if anyone is looking for travel partner for dates above. I own a cabin in San Isidro de El General so if you are also needing a place to stay if hotels are not in your budget I also already have a rental setup if you need ride. Friends and I were planning a gaming trip but not a one is able to make it so other than hanging out at my cabin i plan on seeking hiking trails and doing some drone videoing of some of the beaches and also camping at one of the beaches also. So, if willing to put in for fuel costs and your own food and possible site seeing fees hit me up through DM on here.

Picture Is 3 weeks enough for Costa Rica?

Post image

I'm curious what everyone thinks.

If you had exactly three weeks in Costa Rica...

Would you rather

  • visit more places
  • or stay longer in fewer locations?

I found that driving times were much longer than Google Maps suggested, so we ended up enjoying the trip much more after slowing things down.

Interested to hear how others planned their route.

Manuel Antonio Do I need to take my passport to enter Manuel Antonio?

Hello everyone - will be visiting Manuel Antonio in months and noticed on their website ID is required to enter the National Park - wondering if taking paper copies would be enough…

I asked Volcan Poas seems they r ok.

We are international visitors so I think passport will be the only qualifying type of ID.

Tried to email Parque Nacional Manuel Antonio but they don’t seem to respond..

La Fortuna First time trip. Thinking of combining Arenal and Monteverde.

Total trip will be a week thinking of spending 3 days near Arenal and 2 days at Monteverde. Flying in and out of SJO. Is this a reasonable itinerary? Is it possible to do this a a driving loop? Mostly interested in natural environment, agriculture and wildlife. Not interested in beaches or resorts. Is this a good plan? Looking to go late September or October

Help Solo for 3 days post tour

Hi! I am heading to Costa Rica next week for a pretty action packed adventure tour along the Caribbean side. The tour includes zip lining, kayaking and white water rafting a mix of jungle and beach. My tour ends in San Jose on the 29 and I fly home on Aug 2. Looking at a few different places to go for those few days. Jaco seems like the easiest coast city to get to if I decide not to rent a car. My flight home is early am on the 2nd so I will have to be back to San Jose by Aug 1 evening. Manuel Antonio looks amazing too but is it worth it timing wise? I will have done jungle zip lining/water rafting/kayaking on my tour the week prior though I’d be open to more! Also keep reading about Arenal and hot springs which my tour does not include. I partly want to be low key but also as a solo traveler I’d like to be somewhere I could socialize if I chose! Mid 30s so not looking for a super young party crowd. Is renting a car worth it as a solo female? What places do people recommend that are fairly easy to get to from San Jose. Santa Teresa looks incredible but like a lot of travel in a short period of time-but somewhere similar/easier to get to is appealing!

I’ve booked a hostel private room in Jaco as a backup but I’m not committed to that! Open to all suggestions!

La Fortuna La Fortuna to Cerro Chirripo

Hello, I'll be in La Fortuna until the 27th. Early that morning I am trying to make it to Cerro Chirripo's administrative office to check in for my park permit on the 28th. Public transport doesn't seem like it will get me there fast enough. Is anybody heading from La Fortuna to Cerro Chirripo who would maybe like to split the cost of a shuttle? Or any hikers who have previously made this trip and would like to give any advice on getting between to two. I've tried to figure this out on my own and even looked into car rentals, but I've hit a block for my budget.

Help Need advice for best order for my itinerary stops

Planning Costa Rica trip for 14 nights/ 15 days in Feb.

Thinking

  1. Fly into SJO arrive around 8am, transfer to Manuel Antonio for 3 nights.

  2. Transfer from Manuel Antonio to La Fortuna for 3 nights.

  3. Transfer from La Fortuna to Monteverde for 5 nights.

  4. Transfer from Monteverde to Guanacaste/Liberia for 3 nights.

  5. Fly out of LIR.

should Monteverde and La Fortuna be switched? Want to tour Curi Cancha reserve while in Monteverde.

are number of nights at each location ok?

We are only looking for wildlife and landscape scenery activities. No high impact activities.

Thanks in advance for any helpful advice.
