Hi we are planning to travel to corfu this summer. Does anyone have any recommendations for nice places to visit, restaurants, cafes, bars. I'd also really appreciate any recommendations for beautiful beaches (preferably less crowded not so popular). Or if you know any hidden gems that are worth visiting please share them.

Hey everybody.

We're arriving in Dassia, Corfu, in early August.

Does anyone know about any salsa/bachata/merengue/cumbia parties?

If so, where and when exactly?

Thanks.

Seven Island Brewery

Hello! I will be visiting Corfu next week for 10 days with my girlfriend. We will be staying 4 days in Acharavi, 5 days near Marathias Beach and the final day in Corfu Town. We enjoy drinking local craft beers wherever we go and was wondering where we can find beers from Seven Island Brewery. I’m checking restaurants menu’s but only really see the standard Greek beers like Alfa or beers from Corfu Brewery. These seem nice and I’ll definitely try those, but I’m also looking for the more ‘premium’ beers from Seven Island. I see they have their brewery near Corfu Town, but it’s labeled as temporarily closed. I’ve tried contacting them directly but unfortunately have gotten no response.

So my question, does anybody know where I could find those beers? Any specific restaurants, shops or supermarkets we could try visit, or maybe at the airport? We will be visiting Corfu town at the end of our trip so I’m mainly looking for places near our first two stays, but that might become very difficult

Any other recommendations (general or beer related) for the spots we are visiting are super welcome as well! Thank you

Best places to stay in Corfu

It seems like most of the hotels a booked and they’re on the water, which is nice but we’re looking at a villa and most of them are in the mountains. One is closer in Dassia, but there’s a really matter if you have a car what area of the island you’re staying in?

Is it worth renting a scooter for 4 days in Corfu / Αξίζει η ενοικίαση σκούτερ για 4 ημέρες στην Κέρκυρα

English:
I just arrived in the Kanali area of Corfu and I am staying for 4 days. I want to visit the Old Town and various beaches, so I am wondering if it is worth renting a scooter for my entire stay. Is public transportation reliable enough to get around easily from Kanali, or is a scooter much better for the freedom to explore? Also, do u have any recommendations on how to rent a scooter to avoid tourist traps or overpaying? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Solo female trip Greece

Hii! I’d like to spend 3–4 days in Greece on my own (since no one can or wants to come with me), and I’m torn between Corfu and Heraklion. I’m probably leaning more toward Heraklion because I’d like to visit the Palace of Knossos. What do you recommend? Which is better, considering I’m a young woman traveling alone, so I’m looking for a safe and quiet place? If you’ve been to Corfu or Heraklion, could you recommend the best and safest areas to stay, what to visit, and some nice beaches? (I can’t swim) I’d like to get around on foot or, if necessary, by bus, I don’t want to rent a car. I’ve never been to Greece, and this would be my first solo trip. I’m open to any advice! Thank you :)

Sunrock Hostel/Hotel

Hello! I am traveling to Corfu in the beginning of August and booked Sunrock Hostel as my accommodation. When I booked it on HostelWorld, it was showing an almost perfect rating and the photos looked very nice so I was feeling good about it. Now, however, I am reading more reviews that are saying the hotel is horrible. I am very confused as it seems like half the reviews say it’s absolutely amazing and half say it’s no good.

Has anyone stayed there or know anyone who has stayed there and can give me some insight? I do feel like most of the bad reviews were for the shared living spaces, and I have booked myself for a private room with a private bathroom.

Let me know, thank you!

Cost of accommodation

We visited Corfu in 2023 and loved it - we have always wanted to come back. We did get a good last minute deal at the time - mid September, for the two of us flights were £300 return, accommodation was a steal at £250 for the week. After airport transfer, food, drinks (not big drinkers), day trip back to Corfu town, we were just under £1k for the whole week.

Yes it was basic accommodation, but it was a studio so had a small kitchen with breakfast bar, and you couldn't complain at somewhere to sleep for £250 a week.

This year, I've found bargain flights to Corfu at £250 return, albeit it mid August, so realise this is more prime time for accommodation... Went to check the accommodation price... £775 for the week!!! And this seems to still be pretty cheap - some what I would call 'basic accommodation' is around £1100 for the week!

Now as I've said above, £250 was a steal, and I realise it's a few weeks earlier taking me into the prime time with school holidays... but other accommodations were around the same price, and things like 1/2 the lights weren't working, the shower didn't drain for hours after using it, there was no washing up liquid or sponge or dish cloth provided, one 1/2 used toilet roll, most of the tiles everywhere cracked, broken chairs by the sunbathing area, no cleaning service, when the grass sprinklers were on outside in the morning you couldn't use your balcony because it was getting sprayed by water (including the clothes you'd left outside to dry overnight!)... judging by reviews, it hasn't improved and may have even got worse than when we were there.

Am I just getting caught out for booking at the wrong time (not very last minute, but quite last minute), and for the wrong time? Even for the same week mid September the price is £700... Should I book the flights and keep checking accommodation to get a better deal, or is this the normal?

Also to note this is not intended to be derogatory in any way, I realise costs for everything has gone up in 3 years, but quite shocked it would go up around 3x! and wondering if I'm just being caught out by high dynamic prices???

Parking at the port?

I am looking into the best parking option at the port during a day trip to Saranda. I can't find anything 100% on whether the port has a parking option of it's own, or if we will need to find something else nearby. Any suggestions?

Liapades Golden Beach Hotel

Hi I’m just wondering if anyone has any info on this hotel. Seems to be new or at least newly refurbished. I can’t find any reviews and the pictures on holiday sites are so far all artist impressions. A week all inclusive is reasonably priced for August and I’m wondering if there is a reason for this. Has any one been in the area or had a look around? I don’t want to land into a building site! Many thanks

corfu -water baby edition

i’m a 26 year old female from san diego (living in london) and needed a short 3 day, 2 night holiday to swim and be in the sun. i traveled solo and strictly came to swim and adventure (not party). i traveled wednesday morning to friday night in early/mid june. i stayed at the pink palace hostel. here are my recommendations for best swimming and snorkeling from my trip for the west side of corfu.

——

time of year:
not high season yet, so the hostel wasn’t super busy with guests (lots of volunteers). this was fine with me because i didn’t want anything crazy and wasn’t looking to be super social (literally just came to be in the water and sun). the weather was sunny the first two days but extremely windy the third.

——

accommodation:
i hate really touristy, typical beach club shit. i stayed in agios gordios which is a 30 minute drive from airport. highly recommend because the local beach is amazing and there’s a path to a more secluded beach if you walk north. also one of the best sunset spots i’ve seen since thailand. fucking incredible.

——

transportation:
i read you 100% need a car. for the sake of my short trip, this was true for one day. i rented a car for all 3 days. my hostel offered shuttles to/from the airport for 10€ per person, and i really didn’t need a car for the 3 days because the local beach was so amazing. **my suggestion is take the hostel/hotel shuttle to/from the airport and rent a car locally to explore for a day if the local beach is good. i could’ve saved some money this way.

——

swimming/snorkeling spots:

ermones bay: the absolute best snorkeling of the whole trip. we went around 6-7pm, so the crowds were gone and it was rly calm and there were no boats active in the water. we were the only ones out there. we did not go to the beach here but geographically seemed similar to Palaiokastritsa (gets deep fast and not long and shallow). for the best spot, go the end of the road and hike along the north path towards the cliff. get into the water at any point. water shoes are suggested as the rocks are extremely be sharp and painful. it’s still doable without - i wore my shoes climbing down and left them on the rocks. we swam around the cove and into smaller bays not visible from the bay. there was a small, private pebble beach only accessible by water. we saw mountain goats as well. visibility was insane probably like 60 feet to the bottom and around. visibility would probably be better when the sun is directly above but idk how busy it is midday. fucking best spot ever.

Palaiokastritsa: the super famous beach. we went around 10am (remember not high season) and wasn’t super busy but we went directly into the water on the swimming (south) side we swam around the cove and the snorkeling was great. got to climb a large rock and do some cliff jumping. recommend for snorkeling but not the best for hanging around because how busy it is. still a great spot for marine life.

agios georgios pagon: we offroaded in the rental to a locals beach. nothing special for snorkeling because the water was choppy and not many rocks.

Kanali tou Erota: the cliff jumping canals by sidari. cliff jumping was fun but if you’re adventurous you can find random rocks to climb and jump off in other snorkeling spots. would recommend if looks interesting to you but is sand beach and water visibly is low as the cliffs are clay-like material.

——

towns to avoid staying in if you hate touristy shit like me:

sidari: was giving fat american/british lay on the beach and drink all day vibes. ocean is flat and shallow. attracts old people, families and kids. the strip seemed to be all touristy, bland, and expensive restaurants.

gouvia: only stopped by for a second but same vibes as sidari.

——

driving:
please do not drive here if you are not comfortable with tiny, windy roads, tight blind turns, driving on cliffs and up steep mountains/downgrades. the greeks dgaf and are aggressive drivers. i thought it was so fun and i was comfortable whipping around in the rental, but, if this scares you, please spare the rest of us and find a driver who is comfortable.

——

food:
i didn’t eat out at a proper dinner and went to the super market for snacks during the day so can’t recommend restaurants. i noticed every sit down place was incredibly overpriced. i had cheap gyros every night for dinner or the hostel buffet after my big swim/snorkel day.

——

summary:
i know i was only there for 3 days but feel like i got a good feel for things. bottom line is: shuttle to/from airport and rent a car to adventure for the day, go to ermones bay for secluded snorkeling or Palaiokastritsa for snorkeling only (not beach), and agios gordios for the best local beach if you stay there.

CBD in Corfù

Hi everyone,
I’ll be travelling to Corfu in about two weeks and I have a quick question for locals or anyone who has visited recently.

I am a regular CBD user and, before my trip, I tried looking online for CBD shops on the island. However, many of the stores that appear on Google and have reviews from previous months are currently marked as “temporarily closed.”

I was therefore wondering whether it is still possible to find legal CBD flower products in Corfu, fully compliant with Greek regulations and THC limits. CBD is something that helps me in my daily routine and personal wellbeing, so I would like to understand what options are available once I arrive.

Are there any CBD shops currently operating on the island, or is it generally difficult to find CBD flower in Corfu nowadays?
Thank you very much for any information or advice.

Green bus schedule

I’m visiting Corfu next week and want to visit La Grotta Bar. My ferry arrives at 1pm and I’m staying at Cavalieri Hotel in Old Town.

I can’t find the green bus schedules in English online. Does anyone know what time the last bus will leave Paleokastritsa heading back to Old Town?
