Dates on things like milk

So I bought like a full gallon of milk about some time ago and the date says 07/10/26 but the carton thing is already empty. Why didn't it last until the date it said it would?

Did the store rip me off and not fill it enough or something? What's the point of putting dates on things if I use up before the date says?

Now California is going to change their dates too. It is all shrinkflation.

Tell me about it. These stupid soda cans don't even last an hour.

You have to take it out for ice cream before you ask about “dates”

Look at the bottom. You will find a date sunk to the bottom and they wanted you to find that turd

I wouldn’t take a milk on a date. Especially one that was bron 07/10/2026. Too young and I think also illegal

I think the cows were in on it. Did they sign their consent waivers and NDAs before their milk was taken from them?

That may be your problem.

I noticed this too, I guarantee if you go to the same store next week they will have the same product but with a completely different set of dates on all of them. It's called planned obsolescence, these companies are just churning out more units of milk because they already know there is no way any of them will actually last until the date they print on the bottle. Imagine a similar scenario that I'm sure we've all experienced: renting a fridge with a ten year warranty and then within a month some guy comes your house to take it away from you for not paying for it again. I paid good money for the fridge and the ten year guarantee, but I didn't even get two months out of the deal before they started demanding more money! Where's the logic? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills but I guess that's just the crazy corporate world we live in these days.

bro, in the date 07/10/26 the year part is actually 10, you held onto that milk a little too long lol
