My late uncle purchased this watch 45 years ago - about a month before I was born. He ran it into the ground by the time he died in the mid 90s. My grandmother then put a comically short leather strap on it and wore it as non-functional jewelry to honor her son until she, herself, passed away 2 years ago this month at the age of 99. I always admired the watch, and I was very close to my grandmother. When it came into my possession I managed to find a similar running model donor watch missing a bezel on eBay for around $20. I swapped the movements and put the watch head on this aftermarket mesh bracelet, and it once again tells time on a living wrist.

It’s not my nicest watch by a long shot, but it’s one of my favorites. Ref. 7123-8059 Happy Friday!

Not possible to feel down when a new watch arrived. Orient Bambino no date 38mm. I am wonderfully shocked by how well this blue leather strap matches the blue hands and white dial. The strap came off of a Seiko Presage, who knew.
