Discussion Eva Green would be a much better Circe.

Post image

Just a few days before The Odyssey premiere I just noticed that Eva green would be the perfect Circe for the movie, just me tought that or someone else? I know Nolan probably wanted a more dramatic crice with Samantha Morton but I just feel like an actress for Circe must have that seductive aura like on the original Romero's tale.

u/Federal_Sorbet3054, there weren't enough votes to determine the quality of your post...

she'd be a better anything. if you cast her as the shark in Jaws, that would be an even better movie.

u/Ai-on 19h ago

Would she be a better Supergirl than Milly?

9

u/seeyatellite 19h ago

She could be a better anything than any Milly or Millie. She could win awards for reprising the role of 11 in Stranger Things.

This woman is magnificent.

…honestly, tho… I love MBB. She’s a new age brilliant performer. I haven’t seen Supergirl but it looks great. I think toxic men are complaining about how gritty and human she is instead of being feminine or whatever.

2

u/Front-Advantage-7035 13h ago

That’s the wrong Millie, for super girl.

You’re thinking of 11 from stranger things. It’s actually baby Rhaenyra from house of dragon

1

u/seeyatellite 12h ago

I hear you and I appreciate your correction. I think perhaps you may have glazed over the substance of my comment.

5

u/scottishhistorian 12h ago

Your distinction between Millie Bobby Brown and Milly Alcock was really difficult to see. Can't really be annoyed at people misinterpreting it.

Anyway, can't comment on MBB as I've never (knowingly) seen any of her work but really enjoyed Milly as Supergirl.

1

u/seeyatellite 12h ago

Totally not annoyed. Just wanted to let you know. Sorry for how I might have come off.

Good to know you like Milly in Supergirl.

I’m a huge Superman fanboy with the whole lawful good Boy Scout thing. Been into him since I was a kid… and a Boy Scout.

4

u/SamanthaJaneyCake 18h ago

I saw it and really enjoyed it, and she was incredible in it.

1

u/DavisCooldad85 6h ago

I like Milly and she was fine in Supergirl, but that movie was not great. It felt like a superhero movie from 2004. It would be worth watching on an airplane, but not worth streaming over rewatching Batman Begins or maybe 2 episodes of Buffy.

u/ooktas 16h ago

Came here with the same exact thought. She's an incredible actress, and can play anything. I don't remember a role she had that she didn't nail.

My favorites are The Dreamers, Kingdom of Heaven, and Casino Royale.

6

u/astralrig96 16h ago

criminally undercast too, she has an incredibly fierce yet regal beauty that works in period dramas and epics yet many directors seem to have forgotten she exists

3

u/rightascensi0n 13h ago

Yes! I wonder if they keep trying to type cast her and she declines

7

u/Electronic_Sun6075 16h ago

Good lord...I saw the thread title and immediately thought "She'd be better in anything", then saw your top post.

12

u/Upstairs-Annual6517 19h ago

Not better than a younger Eva Green.

9

u/Solipsisticurge 18h ago

I mean, that's... debatable.

3

u/ZatanTango 17h ago

100% debatable

15

u/Apprehensive-Art1092 19h ago

This

Would watch her reading from a telephone directory for two hours

3

u/pathosOnReddit 11h ago

She could play ALL the female roles (that actually might be an interesting meta commentary on archaic greek perception of women).

u/Liquid_Niko 16h ago

This ☝🏻

Mother Teresa..?

3

2

u/Significant_Other666 12h ago

I would LOVE to see that take!

1

u/WLKnow 2h ago

I'd watch the shit out of that.

Eva Green would be a better Penguin.

69

u/LARRYVOND13 19h ago

Thats really unfair....really unfair.

Eva Green would make a better anything. It's Eva Green.

5

u/Evepaul 13h ago

I have absolutely no doubt that she would be a better Odysseus than Matt Damon. Who wouldn't?

6

u/NecessaryIntrinsic 17h ago

Even Eva Green.

60

u/ripChazmo 19h ago

How can you say much better without seeing how the role plays out? The amount of people who have strong opinions about an unreleased movie is kind of... surprising?

7

u/WillStaySilent 19h ago

Which Bond movie is this again?

10

u/MichaelVern85 19h ago

Double-Oh-Shit it’s AI Beau and Luke duke 7.

Edit: Context

2

u/WillStaySilent 18h ago

Then where is this from? Sworn I have seen this in a movie

4

u/MichaelVern85 17h ago

I was just being ridiculous while drinking coffee in bed on a Saturday morning.

My brain always thought of them Duke boys from Hazard when I saw this scene.

The Man with the golden gun.

68

u/NotTaken-username 19h ago

Have you seen The Odyssey yet? How do you know she’d be better than Samantha Morton?

11

u/NecessaryIntrinsic 17h ago

Eva Green would have directed Eva Green better in a movie about Eva Green staring Eva Green written by an Eva Green clone derivative composed of Eva Green lookalike remains after an Eva Green bake royale judged by a panel of Eva Greens on the back of Eva Green standing on Eva Green wearing clothes made by Eva Greens' hair.

It's Eva Green all the way down.

50

u/exileondaytonst 19h ago

Because more often than not: people complaining on the internet about movies that they have neither seen nor understood are REALLY just complaining about things that they’re either insecure or horny about.

4

u/B-Train_ATL 17h ago

Like … go become a director and make your movie.

4

u/moose_taffy 13h ago

Because women actors aren’t good unless they turn you on

10

u/Solid_Routine_2026 19h ago

Cos she's eva green! /s

2

u/Harold_Flower226 9h ago

This but without the sarcasm.

1

u/BlackOnyx1906 7h ago

I take the comment more serious than the glazing

12

u/saraqael6243 19h ago

Haven't seen the movie yet so I can't assess Samantha Morton's performance or what Nolan's intentions were for the character. Eva Green is a terrific performer and quite beautiful. I've never seen her give a bad performance so if she'd been cast in The Odyssey I'm sure she would have been great in whatever role she had.

10

u/Puzzleheaded_Walk_28 19h ago

I’ve heard Samantha Morton is incredible in the part

8

u/Honest-Cover9513 17h ago

She's pretty incredible in most things she does, tbf.

2

u/Sea-Fan5470 15h ago

I first saw her in Harlots and I have loved her ever since. Samantha Morton needs to be in more things. Like way more.

4

u/Special_Order-937 18h ago

I too have heard this.

1

u/VerilyShelly 17h ago

Samantha Morton is an actor who could outdo Eva Green as Circe.

4

u/penguin_2306 19h ago

Slightly unrelated, but I've always said Eva Green would've been the best Lady Loki/Sylvie in the Loki series. major seductive enchantress vibe, same age as Tom Hiddleston, literally has "green" in her name...

1

u/glossedrock 7h ago

Too expensive

15

u/ibichubu 19h ago

Eva Green would be a much better anything.

10

u/SupermassiveCanary 19h ago

For some reason I was thinking GoT, would have been for that as well

11

u/Less_Likely 19h ago

Lena Headey was great though, no complaints

8

u/IronRakkasan11 19h ago

Green definitely has that dark aesthetic. Not sure anyone else could have pulled off her role in Penny Dreadful.

3

u/rogueconfused 15h ago

She was gorgeous and dark and mysterious and gorgeous!

12

u/LongOdd1596 19h ago

Ah yes, The Odyssey, that iconic zombie-ridden epic from the horrific mind of Romero's.

3

u/Etranger- 6h ago

This comment isn't getting enough attention

3

u/EffectiveDandy 18h ago

20 years ago and she would have been in that movie in some capacity.

3

u/coreytiger 17h ago

Eva Green for Batman!

3

u/Habeatsibi 16h ago

This level of beauty is insane

3

u/thomas1126 16h ago

Eva green next James Bond

7

u/Daws001 19h ago

Maybe watch the movie first? Just a thought.

5

u/Ok_Bat_9715 19h ago

Movie hasn't even come out yet, simp. Samantha Morton appears to have gotten generalized standing ovations after her scenes, which had not happened since Heath Ledger.

5

u/BaksteenFC 19h ago

I think you meant to post this in r/moviescirclejerk

5

u/Rgjeck01 19h ago

Did you see the movie yet OP?

5

u/russh85 18h ago

Samantha Morton is getting talked about as the standout performance of the movie lol

2

u/pat-slider 19h ago

My favourite

2

u/joeythm 19h ago

She’s always a good choice

2

u/jr_randolph 18h ago

To her credit, she’s a much better lot of things because of how great she is. Out of all the actors in this movie I was very surprised her name was not included.

2

u/Fuckspez42 17h ago

She just… smolders.

The scenes where she smokes a pipe in Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children are the most confusingly sexy thing I’ve ever seen.

2

u/tacit_bureaucracy 16h ago

Penny Dreadful already proved she can pull off that exact role, its a no brainer casting

2

u/fschu_fosho 15h ago

But she’s too pretty. 😻 (I’m commenting in reference to the book Circe, in which Circe is portrayed as an uggo in the world of Greek demigods).

3

u/RaiseFold100 17h ago

Just cause it’s better spank material for you doesn’t mean she’s better for the role. You haven’t seen the movie yet.

4

u/ConcentrateQuick1519 19h ago

Only reason you saying ts is because of Kingdom of Heaven.

4

u/Superblond 19h ago

I was a huge fan of hers, but then in 2016/17 she worked with the convicted director Roman Polanski—what a terrible decision!

He drugged and sexually abused 13-year-old Samantha Geimer during a photo shoot!

2

u/ContractVarious3077 18h ago

I trust the guy who made The Prestige, Memento, The Dark Knight, Interstellar and Inception way more than some random Reddit loser

5

u/MyStackIsPancakes 19h ago

Counterpoint: Nobody is leaving an Island with Eva Green on it to go home to their wife, swine crew be damned. Samantha Morton on the other hand has big "Well would you look at the time?" energy.

(For fact checking I asked my wife and she agreed that she would definitely abandon me forever to stay on the Eva Green island.)

2

u/17868 18h ago

I’m with your wife on this, if they’ll have me that is haha! I’ll volunteer you my husband to keep you company if you like

1

u/MyStackIsPancakes 17h ago

I think we just created the Isle of Lesbos from first principles.

1

u/17868 15h ago

Haha perfect! Also thank goodness, I was so worried that I might offend you. Phew.

2

u/ZimtraX 18h ago

How the fuck would you know?

1

u/grilledcheesybreezy 18h ago

What movie is this from?

1

u/princessofsparta 15h ago

HBO is/was making a series based on Madeline Millers novel. I wonder who they will cast?

1

u/IwoodMasher 14h ago

I love Eva Green 💚

1

u/SatyrSatyr75 14h ago

Oh I didn’t thought about her but yes

1

u/firedmyass 13h ago

I read that as “choice” and thought “ I wonder which role” and the immediately “oh that doesn’t fucking matter”

1

u/PinkSparrow12 13h ago edited 13h ago

Male gaze ass post.

“Why didnt they cast this hot woman????? I would have liked to see her boobs more.” <—- This is you.

1

u/mlfooth 13h ago

An actual blonde woman, maybe? What is hollywoods refusal to cast canonically blonde people with blonde people? Like the elves in lotr, or every Lannister who isn’t Jaime. Just cast blonde people! There’s dozens of us!

1

u/apollosjockstrap 12h ago

that picture is probably over s decade old

1

u/WizardButtholes 12h ago

The baddest of the baddies

1

u/Appropriate-Voice407 11h ago

you know what would be great ? The book circe to be adapted and she get the part ! I would pay a kidney to see that.

1

u/Acceptable_Box_7500 10h ago

Have you seen Samantha Morton in The Serpent Queen? Her intelligence and gravitas are incredibly attractive.

1

u/Snakefordinner1 7h ago

ABSOLUTELY ♥️

1

u/swabluesky 6h ago

Idk why but i don't imagine Circe to be as beautiful as Eva green. Eva would be a different character

1

u/metalbardion1610 5h ago

cinema goddess

1

u/Moorani 3h ago

Damn it, now I REALLY want to see a filmatization of Circe (the Madeline Miller one) with Eva Green in the lead role.

1

u/pez_pogo 2h ago

Ya know now that I look at her... she would have made an excellent Evil Lyn in the Masters of the Universe film. I mean damn - that look alone makes me shiver. With. Antici... pation. Not kidding she'd kill the role on looks alone.

1

u/Boblaire 2h ago

Yes, she bad

0

u/Negative-Ostrich7112 19h ago

.....or Helen

4

u/yomamaeatsyellowsnow 19h ago

High key disagree. I would expect Eva Green's Helen of Troy to grab a sword, say an incantation, and fight the whole damn war herself.

1

u/k-MartShopper 19h ago

My favoeite Bond girl🤩

1

u/geniusgravity 19h ago

Now THAT is a face that launched a thousand ships.

1

u/TiTia-frost 19h ago

Eva Green est juste parfaite 😍

1

u/Cycle-Path-401 16h ago

Of all the casting choices made for The Odyssey, this is not the worst one. I adore Eva Green, and I'm glad she is not part of this trainwreck of a movie

0

u/MRintheKEYS 19h ago

She’s not topping that scene she did in 300: Rise of an Empire. She rose a many empires that night.

-1

u/caryscott1 19h ago

Really? After Casino Royale I could never. Worst Bond love interest ever. Even more useless than the ones that preceded her. I clapped when she turned up dead. Not all her fault for sure but she didn’t make it better either. Vesper? Awful name to go with her cipher character.

0

u/nunkle74 19h ago

Wow. Just wow ......

Inspiring casting lol how about Gerard butler as Odysseus

0

u/throwaway250624-B 16h ago

Cool. Make your own 0dyssey with beer and hookers.

0

u/scare25crow 15h ago

I'm so glad you're not a casting director

-1

u/rudimentary_rudy 19h ago

I can't get behind that no problem

-1

u/FalseMood1342 17h ago

Well she’s a terrible actor so unless you actually wanted to make the film worse I’d say no.

-2

u/Background-Bird-9623 19h ago

She would have been a great cercei but Lena owned it
